Neverwinter Nights

The Diamond edition works badly on certain machine. It crashes a lots on my PC for example. The release notes talks about fixing crashes and ATI/AMD issues for examples (also lots of other  bugs).

Version 1.69 of the game was never released in other supported languages than English and the Linux/Mac version do not exist anymore (Beamdog is finishing the translations and bringing back Linux/Mac support)
The multiplayer server doesn't work since Gamespy shut it down (Beamdog removed all that code and replaced it with a new master server system).
It is currently impossible to improve the graphics pass a certain point because of how fixed the engine is (Beamdog is opening that up).
The UI was changed so it upscale
Improved server performances
etc

All that to eventually make new content and make it easier for modders/persistant world.

Fair to that then, but it's not a product for me ultimately.at least, not now.

Yeah. Sure. Slap some saturation\sharpen filters all over the screen, scale up the low-res fonts and call it 'the enchantment enhancement'. 8\

The only thing NwN really needs is a decent scalable UI (but that's where the mods step in).

Maybe I'm saying this because I'm one of those lucky people who had no issues while running NwN Diamond on their modern PCs (win 8+ GoG version + bigger fonts = awesome 1080 experience).

I'm hyped for the Enhanced Edition.

This is the first EE from Beamdog I actually want.

I bought BG:EE, even though I thought it made the game worse (it was clearly aimed at people who prefer BG2, and I am not on of them), but I would still be playing NWN if I could get it to run (I get a CTD of I try to adjust the resolution from the default).

I just hope they fix some of the problems added to NWN by later patches. I've already mentioned Friendly Fire on the Beamdog forums as something that needs attention.

Beamdog has no plans to alter the graphics in the core game (though they may in subsequent expansions) in order to maintain compatibility with the original game's modules (and because it would be too expensive).

I applaud them for this. For years I have pointed to NWN as the last BioWare game that actually improved based on changes to its graphics. All the graphical advancements since, in my opinion, have been a waste if resources.

NWN was also the last BioWare game with a decent UI.

NWN's graphics were as good as they needed to be. Any advancement beyond that is unnecessary.

I thought it was the ugliest game ever made, and for a while it had me convinced that the move to 3D graphics was an unmitigated disaster. DAO and ME2 in their respective series is where I went: "no more improvements is fine with me" graphically.

Inquisition gave me a smaller knee-jerk reaction of the: "you call this an improvement? Are you f***g kidding me?" as NWN1, but I am okay with Andromeda's iteration of Frostbite so I think I am getting mellow with age.

If they would have refurbished the graphics, I would have actually considered the expansions, I think. The OC is a dud.

A pity that. Not the modern res part, but that the upgrade is limited. if they could have at least pulled a conversion to NWN2 like TUTU did for BG1 it could have revitalized it...

I enjoyed all three. But that's partially because I enjoy the game system, and partially because I enjoyed replaying it as different classes and making different choices. Looking back I realize the plots weren't really stellar, and that there was railroading to be had in all of them, and some linearness to the other two.

I think the OC was more a demo of what one could create with the modules, rather than a story in its own right.  Something to show prospective mod makers which is what I think Neverwinter Nights was originally aimed at)

SoU and HoU were "real" stories.

As far as teh artwork goes, as long as the portraits look good, I'm fine.
