There are reasons with SAM and such but I think the real reason is who the hell wants to write a bunch of alien mumbo jumbo. And who playing wants to listen to it? So they have them speak a little before we just get to English, German, etc. It would be funny if an alien talked in their native tongue and there was an awkward silence before Ryder/Shepards translator kicked in.
