Are you mad? That could overload the primary-through-tertiary EPS conduits on decks 24 to 26, disrupting the ship's primary structural integrity field generators! You'll be lucky if the shearing forces don't tear us stem from stern!

Old news. Everything points to the Tempest isn't going to be a stealth warship like the Normandy.

"This is story of exploration, not a conquest" Wait, what? Where are my conquistadors? On a serious note, it seems that Tempest is Council project, which also suggests same for Arks. That's tolerable amount of "humanity #1" for me. As for different species onboard not willing to kill each other on sight, it's only natural because they are surrounded and outnumbered by more alien aliens.

I love this whole conversation so much. Of course, it'll all be sorted by someone (probably LaForge) being ordered to "compensate". Which makes me wonder why compensate isn't just the default setting on everything

BTW I didn't pay attention to second question there on first read. "Andromeda is many light years away from Earth - even with benefit of ancient technology" Another convenient prothean device confirmed? Or is it just author's assumptions?

Possibly just author assumption, or he's taking Sovereign literally and considering everything to be reaper tech. Which isn't really that far fetched. Sovereign: Your civilization is based on the technology of the mass relays, our technology. By using it, your society develops along the paths we desire.

Bottom line: The tempest is going to be unarmed. Confirmed here first. It's still not confirmed. After all BW promised us some space battles and it would be some weird battles if only options to fight are to run away or ram enemies with your ship.

So let me guess: 1. The mako is going to be unarmed. 2. "This is a story of exploration, not conquest." ("what a surprise, considering BW political leanings" - said absolutely no one, ever) 3. They have decided to take a step to the left with the Tempest. (if this isn't a Freudian slip I don't know what is ) Bottom line: The tempest is going to be unarmed. Confirmed here first. Maybe the Mako will have a complex communication array to send sternly worded communications to enemies who are shooting at you. Yeah while I can fully accept it being a story about exploration, If you are exploring an alien new territory there's no reason for a less well armed or stealthy ship. Worries me if they are going to downplay the fact we're the alien invader and there should be a fair amount of conflict due to that.

IMHO, I think it's better to let out the conquest aspect, at least for the first game. That gives me an idea: Maybe the game ends with MilkyWayers or Humanity declaring war against Andromeda/Khet or viceversa. So you have to decide if the Tempest (you and your crew) not go to war because that war is unjust (Paragon Samara-sque) so you and your crew become an outcast among everyone involved with the war but a ray of hope with the people who want peace in the first place... Or you not go to war because you went rogue and you became a smuggler in the middle of the war because fuck the galaxies, I love my crew, we will do whatever it takes in order to survive the shit (Renegade, Firefly-esque way) Or maybe there is a third way: you oblige and the Tempest promises their participation in war for one of the two factions.

I don't believe they're gonna do another "low action" story like DAI. In other words, have us go up against the khet or the remnants, have a war break out, and then cut it off right after that. That's all well and good that we might see plenty of action against wildlife and each other, but until we actually see some "meat" we won't be pleased. I think that this story is gonna go over years and years, much the same way that DA2 did, and take us about halfway through the war. It's gonna take us to the tipping point of the war.
I'm actually thinking about something else, which I just reminded myself of, what with fighting each other. How many colonists believe that should go back to the MW, and how hard are they willing to fight for it? BioWare knows that them moving to Andromeda is akin to them punting the endings of ME3. This may be their way of "dividing" the player base, and ultimately, answering all of those questions once and for all.

Say what you will, but I still think that the arks are gonna be our citadels, if not our capitols. So, no, they can't just go.
Also, from their perspective, even the most astute Prothean researcher would realize that the longest the reapers took to wipe out the Protheans was 300-ish years. The only thing that they didn't know about was the catalyst. We have no way of knowing whether it enters sleep mode or keeps its conscience active.
So assuming that 300 years there, 300 years back. Seems plausible to me.

This may be their way of "dividing" the player base, and ultimately, answering all of those questions once and for all. That would be great! Also, it's pretty sad that even the faction who wants to go back to MW finally can go back... well, they spent like 500 years going to Andromeda, so it will be another 500 years going back to MW. That's one thousand years. Must be so hard to realize that doesn't matter what you do, you will never go home because even if you can, that place won't be the home you remembered anymore...
