Or not.
I would posit that any "new" species, originally from a system in Andromeda or a system in the Milky Way that shows up in a system, that has not encountered before ... could be looked upon as invaders in any star system in Andromeda. As large as the Andromeda and Milky Way galaxies are, the notion of some form of Galactic identity is stretching it. Given the number of star systems, most of Andromeda would be unknown to sapient, spacefaring species in the galaxy.
If the folks on the Ark ships really thought being from the Milky Way, vice some other part of Andromeda, was an issue, they could just claim, "We are from France* ... you know, that medium sized star system ... way ... over ... there ... which explains all our "strangeness," fellow Andromedan."
*that was a joke

Milkies: "Oh, we're not strangers! We're from the Andromeda galaxy ourselves. How do you do, fellow Andromedans?" Andromedans: "Where are you from?" Milkies: "Uhhhh, do you happen to have travelled to the solar system in other end of this galaxy?" Andromedans: "No." Milkies: "Oh well, we're from over there!" Andromedans: "All of you?" Milkies: "Yes... i-it's a very diverse system."

The fact remains, we are native to the Milky Way, and we are not native to Andromeda.
This make us, and all the other Milky Way species with us, invasive.
This may be a big deal, or it may not, depending on what we find there, and how the writers want it to play out.
But, in the end, we all Milky Way species.

So let me guess: 1. The mako is going to be unarmed. 2. "This is a story of exploration, not conquest." ("what a surprise, considering BW political leanings" - said absolutely no one, ever) 3. They have decided to take a step to the left with the Tempest. (if this isn't a Freudian slip I don't know what is ) Bottom line: The tempest is going to be unarmed. Confirmed here first. Be direct, man! lol
