Do women actually like beards on their men?

I love short, well-kempt facial hair.

I hate large beards. There are some occasions where they look nice, like on older men when they don't look too messy, but half the time younger men who wear a beard and convince themselves they look like a manly lumberjacks, really just look like slobs.

I've been growing a beard since about May of this year. Not gonna lie, there are times where it gets in the way when trying to sleep. Like a scratchy, thick blanket that feels like steel wool. But I keep my beard around because it's less painful than ingrown hairs, less unsightly than keloids (google this, I dare you), and less expensive than buying a list of creams, pre-shaves, special shaving creams and aftershaves just so I can shave with a blade. I also find perma-stubble to be uncomfortable and makes my face look patchy and unkempt, which a full beard hides said patchiness.

I understand perfectly that a lot of women prefer short or no facial hair, and I don't blame them. I keep mine around for practical reasons, and try not to get food in it (soup is the worst), as opposed to making myself look manlier than I really am.

I'm trying to find a gif of the scene from LOTOR. Where gimli is eating the horse lords halls, then wipes his mouth with his beard. Anyone have any better luck finding it?

If a man has to have something, then I like stubbles on a man, anything more than that... is too much. A goatee for example is nice looking imo.

I occasionally go with a beard. It has been an on/off thing. Currently I'm clean shaven.
A beard is quite comfortable when you have to live rough for awhile in cold territories. It really makes a difference.

Though I've never had quite that massive beard that this thread seem to ask about, I have made an observation that made me wonder:
When I lost some of my eyesight on my left eye, the nurses were their usual cold and uncaring. I was clean shaven at the time.
When I lost half my left lung, the nurses really surprised me with how sweet, cute and nice they were to me. I had a healthy beard.

Other things were different, of course. Different social & political climate, different hospital. But I did wonder about the beard.
...Could be I'm just more handsome in a beard.


As for shaving: I mean really... The only thing you should use is either Gillette Fusion or Gillette Mach3. And only use real, genuine, hard shaving soap and a brush. Don't use them canned foam or jellies. They will only clog up your razor with glued together hair, and give you pimples by gluing your follicles shut. Only good alternative is no soap at all, just water. But that will be hard on your razor blades, thus expensive.

Trimmer is good for taking off a beard, so you can shave again.

Um yeah.... Duck Dynasty have never really been the epitome of handsomeness or cleanliness, ignorance and redneckness sure but mostly they look like posers like those doomsday preppers who like to act all badass and tough like they are the only ones who know what they are doing but faint when their gun "missfires" by the exhaust port of their gun magically moving in front of their thumb.



Here Tim is showing the important apocalypse survival technique of playing dead while his sons get the camera crew emergency medic and call the ambulance helicopter for a quick trip to the hospital for emergency surgery. Somehow I don't place his odds of surviving the apocalypse very high.

Mine takes like a week to grow and two weeks to get annoying.

That said, most chicks I've hooked up with insist that I keep the beard so it stays.

I don't like the big bushy types......currently rockin' the bottom styled beard!....

Maybe they simply prefer your beard covering up as much of your face as possible. 


That's another thing I do not like about beards, they hide your facial features, a lot of your facial expression and make you look indistinguishable from other bearded dudes.
