Not bad, not good. I sort of liked her, but I felt she missed something. I would have greatly preferred either some kind of conflict with Ryder about her position (after all, she sort of deserved to became the new Pathfinder) or at least some more internal one: if she had the strenght to became someone with the Commando, so in an alien culture, she should have felt she somehow deserved to get some recognization with her own people, and playng a little in the biotic situation and problmes both in human and Turian culture would have been appreciated. I find even quite sad that the human companion gave more alien culture refences than the aliens of the team themselves...yep, even Jaal. It was mostly about Jaal not understanding and learning about the milky way races than us learning about Angaran.

And it would have been nice if Ryder could ask if she will ever shutup about the crap. Of course the player doesn't have to talk to Harper. I know when I heard her talk about that stuff for the first time, I laughed because of what my Shepard did to those commandos in the trilogy. They're pathetic. That's an argument that annoys me, 'well if you don't like them just don't talk to them'. No, I want to talk to them and have a big old barney. I don't want them to flounce off in a huff (because deciding not to save the world because you don't like the boss is daft) and I don't want the game to think we like each other either. This is where DA2 wins hands down, you can properly dislike someone and they'll come back at you with a bunch of shit. Or punch you in the face. So yeah if you don't like Cora it'd be nice to tell her what you really think, and Suvi as well actually. And omg the things I'd say to Liam.... The "if you don't like the character, don't talk to him or her" syndrome. I agree, it would be good if the game provided the option for the NPC or Ryder tell the other their relationship is only professional because of a certain reason. Jaal do this, but the way he put seems childish. Regarding Liam, I think Bioware like to prank us, is the only explanation I can find. LOL Jacob v2.0 Liam, like someone in your team says, is a tool 1. But interesting enough he is the only one to tell Ryder to go to hell and f**k off. This happens if you decide to left Verand and the angara "detained" after his loyalty mission, basically punishing him through other people. The rest of the team? Hey Drack, I left your scouts to be exalted, didn't give Morda the drive core to power the krogan colony and also had the opportunity to share the water of Eladeen with everyone, but I decided to left all of it to a greedy angara to hold. But I love the krogan, is it ok, right? Yes Ryder, you have other priorities, it's ok, you are my best pal/gal and let's fly to the rainbow. On the subject that left people ankward or making jokes, her love scene with Ryder is very good, one of the best in the game actually. It's erotic and tastefull and at the same time the dialogs are credible and very sweet. 1I would like more situations like in the asari arc, if your Ryder is a biotic he or she suffer the effects of the mass effect field disrupting the engines. Heck, my first playthrough was an engineer and the first talk you have with Gil can be about how important the engineer section of the ship is. But after his reply Ryder act like don't knowing anything about... engineering.

I would have liked the option for Ryder to tell Cora the reason why Alec passed SAM to her/him rather than following the chain of command.

I thought the characters for MEA were the most poorly written characters of any ME game including those of the first two dragon age games. I'm sure that is the minority opinion, but I'm sticking to it.

She got a huge weight on her shoulders since she got to care about Ryder and about the Asari Ark too. She's connection to the Asari is unique and quite strong in the franchise. I was allways compared her with the Cerberus Cheerleader. Cora does not have deep background and relationships and family connections as Miranda does, aside from the Asari Commandos of course. She is more acceptable character as Miranda because she is a lot friendlier and i like her kindness. Also Cora's intim scene is among the best scenes in the entire franchise. Hands down. :-)
On the other hand her role as "pathfinding" is clearly a lot less as Miranda's role in the Trilogy. I can call her as "tool" and or "necessary" character in Mass Effect Andromeda. I don't think she could capable the role of the Pathfinder. I think she is far away. Other than her role and presence on the Periphona she is Ryder's girlfriend and absolutely nothing more.
So i think about her wirting as :
Good – Not top notch, but very compelling ... But i think she deserves a lot better and more.

Mediocre and largely because of asari spam. She was most interesting when being an active agent to discover, build, uncover, fight for (etc) things. MEA had her too calmed for what should have been a more dynamic relationship with Ryder.
I'd take her in a next game but give her more love, and not just in the butt modelling.

Sadly I'd say mediocre. Cora is one of my favourite characters but, as with Vetra, I feel like she just didn't get enough time. Her LM is really a main mission for the asari ark, so she loses out there, and if you don't pay much attention to her ppl will be left thinking that all she ever goes on about is the bloody asari commandos. I can't help but think how expanded her character could have been if it were DAI. MEA itself is like 2/3-3/4 a game, stretched out for potential gametime to a full game (grind/exploration), and with the DLC cut that could have made it seem to eventually be 3/4-1 full game. This includes characters. That asari stuff is okay, but eh... it feels more like a first 1/3-1/2 of the game thing. Sure whatever, bring something more interesting for the later parts, like connection to Cerberus (not saying membership) or the quirks of her particularly powerful biotics or her developing philosophy about the Initiative and her part in it.. something. Instead we got mostly asari spam. DLC could have partially 'saved' this (as Trespasser arguably did for at least a few characters), but MEA didn't get any.

I guess it elevates her LM into something that's truely important for the game's plot yes, but I think she should've had another mission as well as the asari ark. It would have given her a little more screen time, and it could also have been something non Asari related as the whole commando thing gets old after a while. interesting thought but that would have given her two missions. Though I do also agree Vetra was really short changed. I think most of the companion related/'Loyalty' missions were short enough and lacked enough refinement that as they were, I'd have happily taken two for each companion and trade off a bunch of boring Nomad roaming and broken sidemissions.

Most of the dialogue lines for Cora or any other MEA character are, well, not the best let's say. I am just finishing replaying MET (again) and I can easily see difference in quality of writing, on every level. But this is a common problem these days, not only in gaming industry. Same problem with movies and tv series, so hard to keep the quality for long term. This year almost everything I've been waiting for regarding movies/tv series/games was a smaller or bigger disappointment. Agents of SHIELD has not been disappointing me for the most part. Not saying its not often popcorn comic silly material, but I am constantly surprised with how much it draws me in more.

There were many things that disappointed me about ME:A, but Cora reigns supreme. Her surname initially had me excited, but that turned out to be the gaming equivalent of clickbait. True. They could have done so much more with Cora if her last name were not a coincidence and she really was TIM's daughter. However, I don't know if it's clickbait. I just recently started playing SWTOR and I see the same names (in different context) I recognized from ME and DA. BioWare just doesn't seem to have a lot of originality, which is why James Vega was originally James Sanders but unrelated to Kahlee. Think of how much effort it must have taken for them to change his name. Sadly, you may be right. But its stupid. There's a difference between a (possible) call-out (like a KOTOR game having a ship Harbinger and Mass Effect then having Harbinger Reaper), and putting in a clear lead to something that would be meaningful. 'Harper' for a last name would be this. Of course we're going to think TIM. And no, your character probably isn't going to be so awesome and compelling that we're not going to be disappointed with your game if there's no connection to Jack Harper. Jeez Bioware.

I thought Cora got more interesting after she had her "Asari know everything/are the best" bubble broken after her LM.
Choosing Harper for her last name seems a bit silly, if they never planned to make it a TIM connection. Then again, maybe that's something that would have come up in a 'Benefactor' DLC.

I did like how Andromeda did give us a lot of little things to do with companions. It wasn't just a one and done like with ME in the past...harkened back to DA 2. Only bizarre exception to this was Vetra.

Ultimately, I'd accept MEA as an 'optional prelude' game to something much greater, as long as Bioware bothers to positively follow up on ideas/theories/prospects, instead of leaving them to languish.

I'd say subpar but this chick has the personality of my balls after a morning jog. They had three chances to make her decen but fucked them all up.
1. Last name Harper. Could've been related to TIM as his secret weapon to ensure humanity ran the new galaxy. Instead she's less relevant than the guy behind the guy who held that Alliance rep at gunpoint in Mass Effect over the L2 implant reparations.
2. Competing for that #1 spot. She's snubbed by papa Ryder via nepotism. She should be pissed off not ready to kill herself. Fuck that, I want some real conflict on this ship. No one cares about two beta males soyboys slapfighting over wires on a goddamned ship. She should be trying to outdo Ryder at every turn and push them to be that much better via competition.
3. The straightwoman. She's the normal who's there to keep people in line yet she's so boring that watching her plants grow is more entertaining than her personality. Why couldn;t she be like pre Loyalty Mission Miranda?
The not-so-pychotic biotic, much like most of the other squadmates is 2-dimensional asari nut riding suckup with no edge:
WHEN IS WAS AN ASARI COMMANDO/MUH PROMOTION WHEN IS WAS AN ASARI COMMANDO/MUH PROMOTION WHEN IS WAS AN ASARI COMMANDO/MUH PROMOTION WHEN IS WAS AN ASARI COMMANDO/MUH PROMOTION WHEN IS WAS AN ASARI COMMANDO/MUH PROMOTION
