Tell me about your favourite speech on Mass Effect

Can’t see a poll on Tapatalk but I like Hackett’s speech before Earth in ME3.

I voted for Shepard on the SR1. I think that might have been the moment where Mass Effect moved from "this is a pretty good game" to "wow, I could really get into this world and its characters." I was doing the Paragon FemShep version, and it confirmed for me that this could be more than just another space adventure and that this was also a story about humanity finding its place in the galaxy. I imagine future historians of the 2180s would have cause to quote the "For too long, our species has stood apart from the others..." part.

Please. This is the best speech in Mass Effect.

I agree with Rob, I roll my eyes and tune out for all of them.

Take it easy we are all mortals here. I can deal with reapers... but the biotic god ?? I know my limits !

Kirrahe. But that's probably less to do with his speaking skills than the mission that came after it. I just thought it was cool how you had to respond to the salarian squad's radio reports for Kirrahe to survive. It made the whole thing really seem like we were working together as a team.

I would have voted for the Sovereign speech except he turned out to be one more lying poser with a very definite beginning and not even remotely beyond our comprehension. Powerful, sure, but not at all what he claimed to be.

I will be the first to say that I reject the synthesis ending as my canon and go with destroy. However, EDI does give a very touching, powerful and hope filled speech. I loved where she went with it. "Reclaiming our worlds... and the stars... to surpass a level of existence I cannot even imagine..." That truly made my hair stand on end. It was perfect. BUT, it also was not perfect. Shepard was not there and that quickly made the magic in the speech dissipate.

That said, Shepard's speech on the SR1 was a huge turning point for me. I was suicidal at the time and it awoke something in me. Sheploo and his speeches continued to give me not just life, but a passion needed to want to cling onto said life. Sheploo, to me, is the most awe-inspiring, defining character I have ever come across and I will never forget him. He is my hero in many ways, fictional or not. I don't care. I am also gay, and the things Sheploo said to Kaidan when they finally got together in ME3 really fuelled a burning love and passion inside me that I have never felt before. Because of him I turned my life around- I got fit, made life-long friends, found love with men and explored our culturally diverse world.

So, uh, I'm going with Shepard's speech on the SR1.
