If you enjoy the artist's style, the price is usually worth it. I dabble in art stuff and I know how much time, planning, blood, sweat and tears go into a creation - let alone a creation for someone else. If you are itching for a personal portrait from someone specific, it might be worth saving up for. Art is a passion, sadly passion can't put food on the table. Thing is, it's supposed to be a gift to me from someone, and I can't really decide how much money they should spend...

I thought that's when you were supposed to find the most expensive thing you could because hey, you're not paying for it, right? This could be why my friends don't ask me what I want as gifts ... hmm. Jokes aside, if you really like Nipuni then you could find out how much your friend is willing to spend and then make up the difference yourself? Provided she would agree to do the piece. It would still be a gift as you wouldn't have gotten the piece otherwise and you get something from an artist you really like.

Hey everyone, its been a little while. I'm lucky enough that today I'm going to Supernova, where the Gareth David-Lloyd will be attending. I'm pretty excited for it, gonna get my copy of Inquisition signed . If I hear something interesting, I'll definitely let you all know. He's having a QA today which I'll be sure to attend.

I'm not a regular here, but I noticed that the thread title seems to have changed: The Blanketfort (Salos Discussion Thread). I could have sworn his name was spelled correctly before.
Is that an in-joke or just a mistake?

I saw that on Instagram today! Gosh... I'm making a second (and planning a third) Solavellan PT XD
Say, does anyone knows if Solas was officially in Mythal's household (and bears Mythal's vallaslin) before he becomes the God of Rebellion Fen'Harel and removes the vallaslin? Or is it just a long shot guess?

But she asked him to come. He left a scar when he burned her off his face." It's generally assumed that 'her' means Mythal (and that 'burning her off his face' means removing her vallaslin) - especially given Solas's comments about her, as well as evidence in the lyrium mine in Trespasser (containing ancient elvhen statues of Mythal and Fen'Harel) that he was once either her servant, bodyguard, an equivalent of Left Hand/Right Hand or collaborator.

That's interesting... Wow I'm so behind on the theories XD. Thanks for mentionning that. but "He did not want a body", does that mean Solas was a Spirit or something? I used to read a fanfiction (Looking Glass by Feynites) where she clearly headcannon of younger Solas being born as Spirit first before taking a body, but at that time I always assume that's only a headcannon. If Solas was a spirit and then "get a body" somehow, that explains his affection for Spirits. He was one of them, and it won't be farfetch to guess if he consider his People are the spirit and not the Elves? Or actually all spirits were the souls of the old Elves...? I'm sorry I'm a bit "new" to the Solavellan blanketfort, can we also discuss the DA Retribution here...?

I used to read a fanfiction (Looking Glass by Feynites) where she clearly headcannon of younger Solas being born as Spirit first before taking a body, but at that time I always assume that's only a headcannon. We can't tell for sure... I mean, a portion of Cole's cryptic comments in Trespasser is 99,9% about Solas. They appear to be painting a certain picture, but since we don't know the full context all we can do is guess. One one hand there's a record in Vir Dirthara in Trespasser that supports the theory that Solas, as an elvhen, was a spirit once - the codex mentions spirits being 'brethren (of the air)' to elves and they are indeed 'those who never manifested outside the Fade '. On the other hand - Solas mentions growing up in a small village and getting himself lost in the land of dreams in his youth. Thing is, that even if he did, that's not excluding the above. The reality is that we simply do not really know the process of how elvhen, well... get formed or born or whatevs. Do they just manifest in a fully-formed body? Do spirits get tied to a fetus and then get born and have a childhood similar to ours, save perhaps some sort of awareness that they were spirits once? I genuinely have no clue ATM and I'm not sure anybody else does. So Feynite's idea about how Solas got born is located in a headcanon and speculation area, but it certainly wasn't pulled out of nowhere. I think it's very safe to say that ALL elvhen - and probably all elves - have some sort of close connection to spirits. Solas appears to be a special case even among ancient elves though, given that even Evanuris propaganda we can find in Vir Dirthara mentions that Solas " knows much of the People and their spirits" - he appears to be either a learned scholar or somebody with deep affinity to Fade and its denizens... quite likely both. I mean.. nevermind that it is implied that basically everybody has a spirit, be it elf or human or even dwarves (we see dwarven spirits in DAO). What's possible is that elves and elvhen may be closer to spirits than other races, for whatever reason (probably having something to do with the Veil). Haha - well it is currently the SALOS thread... So go ahead.

Back from Supernova, and something Gareth said about Solas was that he really hopes that the one thing that people take away from his character is his humanity and his flaws, which was something I was very happy to hear. And he said how because the process of voicing Solas took so long, like two years or so, he really got to know the character far more than any other. Oh and he thinks Solas blew the romance

His humanity and his flaw... That's a beautiful thing to say. Although my elvhen heart would broke even into the size less than an Angstrom, I would love to see Solas becoming a (hopefully redeemable) Big Baddie of the next game. Not only one that's a Baddie for the first 3h of the game and forgotten for the next 117h but for the whole lot of it. Or at least, his actions bring consequences that'll be the major issue of the next game. Just because it's a whole other depth to have the Big Bad Villain of the game to be someone we knew loving frilly Orlesian cakes and dislike tea, getting teased mercilessly by other companions, can play blind chess on the top of his head, as well as someone our Inquisitor may love, befriend, respect.
I personally find that the sympathetic villain is usually the most interesting of all. Not because they do terrible thing, but because I can understand fully why he does that, and I have seen the other side of him. He's not a Bad Guy because he is Evil. He becomes the antagonist in an attempt to save what he believes is his People. A notably worthy goal. It would destroy the world as a lot of non-People will know it, but delicious in term of story telling.

That Solas had a good thing going with Lavellan and threw it away foolishly, essentially.

Wow. Two years to do the voice work? I never realized it took so long. I do recall either Weekes or Gaider mentioning that Solas took them a while to write/pin everything about him down.... which is not surprising given how pivotal this character is to not just to Dragon Age as a story, but Thedas as a whole. Besides, we do know that Solas romance/races were added after they extended DAI's development for a year, so VA must've been brought back to record both the romance as well as racial variants for many dialogues and banters.

I wonder if Weekes actually try to do roleplay with other writer for Solas, like he does with Gaider for Bull & Dorian's romance?
About the 2 years, Solas speak in iambic pentameter no? That's possibly not the easiest to voice naturally.
