For me it’s his bottom lip throwing me off. It’s quite a bit thinner. Please don’t make me start an embarrassing petition, Bioware. Joking aside, I thought they showed an in-game model of his face? It looked wonderful to me. Or was that just a technical thing? You mean the one in the behind the scenes video where they made him go from growling to making kissy faces? lol

I know that there will likely still be tweaks even if so. Or it was a demo just to show off. I also saw the growling to kissy face as a spoiler from them about what’s gonna happen.

I wonder if absorbing Mythal's power restored Solas to his prime, or actually made him stronger than he ever was.

Honestly, the differences I can notice so far are the following:
- slightly wider cheekbones - slightly larger chin - squarer/sharper jaw
- smaller distance from top lip to nose - more slanted ears - Squarer shoulders - Slightly different eyebrow shape, slightly fuller/bushier, and more arched instead of being straight & thin
- fuller eyes (in the sense of more fat deposit), and less deep-seated - Way thinner bottom lip, now it's the top lip that's bigger, while it used to be the bottom one
- Softer nose tip - lower nostrils
- Less round head-shape (but the new one is more anatomically accurate though)
- Smoother skin texture - no freckles at all sobs
- slightly bigger distance between eyes and eyebrows - wider/bigger neck - straighter hooded eyes, while they before they looked more downturned
- cupid's bow used to be bigger
- thinner nose bridge base, which kinda makes him lose his peculiar DA:I elvhen look
Overall all of those changes are very subtle though, but all combined together, they give the impression that he looks a bit younger, that his face is shorter (it isn't though) and squarer. That and also the lighting of course. I'd say that the biggest changes to me would be the eyes. A lot of those subtle changes have made them more realistic, but have also changed their nature a bit, which I honestly don't mind. Again, 6 years a lot in the industry of video games, and I think part of Solas' 3D model in DA:I looking the way it does was also because BioWare's 3D modelers might have been limited by the technology not fully being able to create exactly what they had in mind back when, with utmost fidelity, while nowadays, they can get closer and closer to that ideal.
Here, a shitty gif where I put both faces on top of each other:
(Yeah, I was bored I guess)
His new face looks manlier with that stronger jaw. The nerdiness is all gone, which is kinda cool but not really him. Change isn't bad in and of itself, though. Returning characters always look different in a new game, and if we can accept Isabela then anything goes

Yeah I agree a bit here, I also particularly adored his nerdy face. Oh well, not like it'll stop me from wanting to kiss him nor punch him anyways. And we're are still far away from release date, any tweaks can and will happen, so I'm not minding it much thus far.

I think the fact people say his bottom lip looks thinner is because...he's pressing his mouth into a tight line? in DAI he was a lot more relaxed (mostly to throw us off...clever eh?) and in DA4 he's going to be a lot more...dunno, ruthless? is that a good word? also he looks like he's about to cry...someone give him a hug! (though chances are that might result in petrification )

Also, maybe, but I think his lip is also just a plain different shape there.
... And leave it to Solas to petrify someone in the process of hugging him and getting himself trapped. Cus planning.*

Remember he can apparently petrify the person but not their clothes (the Executor), so he'd find a way around it to leave himself in the clear.

Tense is a good word...I was too tired last night to think of the word I was looking for
I just hope that if you picked the 'redeem Solas' option, that we actually get the chance to redeem him and not make that choice void. He's one of my favorites coming out of Inquisition and I'd hate having to kill him...I'd be bawling for days

I just hope that if you picked the 'redeem Solas' option, that we actually get the chance to redeem him and not make that choice void. I tend to go back and forth on the redeem versus kill choice at the end of Trespasser because I do feel that my male Lavellan may have said one thing in the heat of the moment having been told his people are going to die, which he naturally thinks means the Dalish and the city elves, but that he may have felt differently once he had some time to consider the discussion. My female Lavellan who romanced Solas is determined to save him, even though Cole seemed the only member of the inner circle who approved. However, personally my biggest surprise from the trailer was my emotional reaction to it, particularly on seeing Solas. So I am hoping there is some way of "saving him from himself", although I do think it may not be as simple as that considering he has got Mythal inside his head now. May be that is why he looks so strained. Also, I saw an analysis that suggested that if the gods are really being unleashed then may be we will have to accept his help again.

I mean, I'm still hoping some of the gods aren't as evil as he makes them out to be, but hey...if they all decide to go 'coo coo' it'd be nice to have someone on our side who knows how to deal with such beings.

He had so little to say about them, really - just what he tells us in the Temple of Mythal when we're checking out a few depictions of the Evanuris and in Trespasser. We got corroborating evidence of their horribleness from the Vir Dirthara, which has those memories in book form, and those were not from Solas. Then we've been getting a bit more about Ghilan'nain in particular in Tevinter Nights. I think most of the gods are going to turn out to be horrible to our modern-day sensibilities.

And even we are to meet the evanuris in DA4, odds are pretty good that they will be driven insane. Either by the trauma of Solas's imprisonment, the shock of entering modern Thedas, or because of the corruption many theorize they had before Solas sealed them off. Still, I partially agree with Nemesis that seeing them as not-so-evil would be appreciated. Maybe not in the 'they-were-clearly-heroes!' way, but maybe more in the fashion controversial leader figures like Celene or Clarel have been portrayed. Wanting good for 'thier people' (be it the nobility or elves as general whole), but using questionable methods. Or deliberately choosing to enable/reinforce the oppression of another group just so the empire as a whole can continue standing. I imagine before the raising of the veil, the Evanuris were a hodgepodge of dragon age leader types. We have Mythal as a Celene, Elgar'nan would have been glory-hound Gaspard, Falon'Din a lets-simplify-things Drakon, Sylaise would have been an ambitious Vivienne, etc. With Fen'Harel being a Briala at first but eventually evolving into a Fiona after Mythal was killed. They weren't exactly good, but solid arguments could be made that they were exactly evil either. Although that may not be the case for some of them (like I expect to be the case for Falon'Din and Andruil).

Yeah...I've yet to read Tevinter Nights...though I've gathered most of the information it revealed. He had so little to say about them, really - just what he tells us in the Temple of Mythal when we're checking out a few depictions of the Evanuris and in Trespasser. Although that may not be the case for some of them (like I expect to be the case for Falon'Din and Andruil). I'm kinda sorta holding out hopes for June...mostly because he's the god we know least about aside from being called the god of craft by the Dalish and receiving a gift from Sylaise for a favor he did her. I kinda wonder what that favor might've been
what I find funny in that codex is the following "Architects of the Grand Sonallium (a gift from Blessed Sylaise to Clever June as thanks for a great favor) in friendly debate over the color of the palace's roof trim." and in the previous line it says: The well-dressed elves' shouting grows so loud, it can be heard over the magic. One leaps at another, howling and pulling out a knife burning with prismatic flame.
friendly debate indeed

That's architects for you. However, it does make you wonder. If these guys who are followers of the same god solve their disputes in this way, what are they going to be like with followers of a rival god? Or perhaps that is when such antics aren't allowed because of it causing trouble between their deities, whereas it is considered okay within house. I'm kinda sorta holding out hopes for June. There was also that big hint in the Temple of Mythal codex about him that he is clearly something more than god of crafting, without revealing what. In some legends he is the youngest brother of the family but in the Core Rule Book it also suggests he could have been Sylaise's husband, plus he is said to have crafted himself. Which does fit with the idea of the Evanuris having been spirits that then took mortal bodies. I kinda wonder what that favor might've been I shall be very disappointed if we discover this was not connected with the events that led up to Mythal's death. Could it have been something to do with creating the ultimate weapon? Mind you, I suppose the story could have been simply to illustrate how magic was performed in ancient times.
