Mine had originally June's vallaslin for aesthetic purposes, but I changed it to Dirthamen's since she's spy and she's secretive and seeks knowledge. So it's perfect for her

I chose Dirthamen, because accoring to the stories, he actually sounds like a cool guy. He was the 'god' of knowledge. He subdued Fade ravens (*gasp* Leliana is Dirthamen! ), spent time in a nice city in the mountains, created the first Varterral, and the person who took on the shape of the gods or something like that was his follower. 

Also, one of his symbols is bears. The scourge of all adventurers in Thedas who are low on potions.

Hehe! I've learned my lesson after having a hard time drawing my Mahariel's vallasin back when I played DA:O. She had Ghilan'nain's vallaslin. Though I guess it wasn't as difficult as the other DA:O vallaslins.

I hate Envy.

Re: vallaslin: Sylasie for me.  Full version.  It's the most hardcore of all of them.  Originally Revas had the full Mythal, though.

Are there any vallaslin from DAO that we can connect to a God? Some of them were really confusing.

You know the one I have picked mostly was Mythal's because it's cute...that's it.

Which I want to show my latest Inquisitor off with the vallaslin

I know there are people who disagree with me on this, but I think the the Ghilan'nain and Dirthamen labels on this are mixed up, or, at least, the new versions of the vallaslin in DA:I incorporates more elements of the one labeled Ghilan'nain (the torch and nose markings) into Dirthamen's new design, while the one marked Dirthamen has the halla head and horns that are in the new Ghilan'nain design, the second pair of horns removed, and the chin markings are inverted to curl inwards, while the cheek markings are transported completely to Dirthamen's pattern (which in the DA:I pattern has the curling halla horns removed, and converted to a halo of radiance around the torch).

I find it very curious that they completely pulled the torch motif out of Ghilan'nain's pattern and put it into Dirthamen's if it was indeed Ghilan'nain's.

My tinfoil headcanon for this is that Dirthamen and Ghilan'nain may have shared slaves, and so some of them had vallaslin which incorporated elements of both of their symbols, and the Dalish continued the tradition, while the vallaslin in DA:I shows their singular designs.

To confuse things more, if you look at Velanna's vallaslin
you'll see it has the torch and nose markings of the one above marked Ghilan'nain, but chin markings that resemble the new Dirthamen chin marks


while Merrill's as yet undefined vallaslin

has the halla skull and horns and cheek markings from the one marked Dirthamen, but not the arched pair of horns. This one resembles the DA:I Ghilan'nain much more if you look at the inverted chin markings on the DA:I pattern and flip the curls outward.


...I have clearly put way too much thought into this. Mostly because the single flame motif is important to Fen'Harel:



and I have suspicions about him and his involvement with Dirthamen (and Ghilly), because of how much those two got name-dropped in DA:I, Dirthamen in particular, and I feel like it's foreshadowing.

Could be totally off base, but there you go.

I agree it's a lot easier to headcanon that each clan has their own variations, because Bioware certainly hasn't been consistent with them.
