Now imagine their reaction when they find out that their daughter is dating the Dread Wolf and by "fair bit" older is over 1000 years. My Lavellan's dad who's a city elf reaction. "I thought he was a dog." Oh, when I wrote the "fair bit" older I did mean that they would be told of him being the Dread Wolf. My Lavellan is around the same age as Cassandra, probably 37-38 so he didn't seem that much older at first, but then again he looks pretty good for a two thousand year old

I believe it was said somewhere that Elvhen is a pretty messy conlang, developed to sound very lyrical and not to make a lot of sense or, you know, actually function. To the point where people in-universe recognize Elvhen as a clunky, nonsensical language that's basically impossible to translate without first knowing what's being said (Which kinda defeats the purpose of reading it to begin with.). Gotta wonder why people even try. I'm pretty sure the writers are just sort of making it up as they go - I'd be surprised if they have a fully fleshed out dictionary, much less a functioning grammar system. Which, hey, that's kind of understandable. Fabricating a fully functional language is hard - it's why a lot of fiction goes with cypher languages, which is just English (Or whatever the work's native tongue is) with the words swapped out - and doesn't have a whole lot of payoff in the end. There's not a lot of incentive to make it a usable language, although I do wish the writers would put out translations of what they had a character say (Even if said translation contradicts what we already know.) Basically it's welcome to the Elvhen language: where the grammar's made up and the definitions don't matter. I like that this can all be explained in-universe now that we've seen the Vir Dirthara and veilfire runes. Maybe the reason there's so much nuance and double meaning and so much seemingly missing from the language is cus it's not supposed to rely on the written or spoken word alone. Maybe there is supposed to be a telepathic or empathic component to the spoken word that modern elves (much less anyone else) aren't capable of producing anymore. And all the written stuff in ruins and old manuscripts used to be like the library books or mosaics of solas' sanctuary and the magic powering the effect was broken by the veil for most of it. Maybe that's also why elven is proving so hard to recover as a language. 2/3 of it requires you to be a mindreader. Thus the devs really do get a lot more freedom as long as the words sound like they belong and the concepts they're being used to mean can be at least loosely tied together. (Translations would still be nice though. >_> ) On another note, that riff off Who's line made me laugh. GJ, ellawyn. XD Impressive ! Lyrics are Dragon Age, instrumental some other song. From what I understand, that whole song, music included, is the songwriters creation acttually. It was a really cool tribute that poppped up a few months after the game.

Too bad the Inky doesn't get the option of ripping into them right then and there. My current Inquisitors are working their asses off trying unite all people and races against a serous threat, and to have two of her closest dropping comments like these. Feel like writing a short where the Inquisitor promptly turns around, heads back to the nearest camp and kicks those two out of the party, grounding them until after the party at Halamshiral.

So, I just remembered that Leliana mentions searching for the place were Solas supposedly grew up, only to find ancient ruins. Now, considering there are theories suggesting Solas was a spirit called by Mythal, wouldn't this mean that either Solas lied about "growing up" somewhere or that he was never a spirit as is being theorized? What do you think? I'm not sure if I remember all this right, so please correct me if I'm wrong!

Yes, what I mean is that he couldn't really have been a spirit called by Mythal and a boy growing up with a family at the same time, could he? I'm going to assume that if Solas was a spirit that took a mortal body it happened similar to how Cole did it, and Cole is at least 15. So what I'm asking is whether Solas outright lied about growing up there or if this indicated that he was never a spirit taking mortal form as some theories suggests.

PErhaps the village was that; when the Veil went up, it collapsed into ruin fast. If reality was the brick, and the fade the mortar

Idk it makes the whole golden city stuff even cooler and special and amazing ? #thebestreasons A lot of the infrastructure is supported in Tevinter by magic. Tevinter built their cities on the ruins of elven ones, as I've heard. Tevinter pretty much copied everything from the elves, it's been implied. Although Tevinter found the elves post Veil, I still think they would have taken inspiration from what the elves told them of their old empire. But until we have more information, we can think anything we want to think, so I'm not hell bent on making you believe my version of ancient elven architecture.

Feel like writing a short where the Inquisitor promptly turns around, heads back to the nearest camp and kicks those two out of the party, grounding them until after the party at Halamshiral. But... it is a human mess? Like I'm not commenting on most of the banter, just that one line. It wasn't Solas who made the "human mess" comment - or even, technically, the human mess. Solas might carry some blame for the Breach in the way that you might be responsible if you sell a gun to a murderer - but the murderer's still the one who pulled the trigger. They deserve way more blame than you. I'll never understand why people discount Corypheus' agency in causing the Breach. Yeah, Solas was hideously irresponsible, and he deserves some flak for that. But the whole blowing up the temple/killing hundreds of people including the Divine/causing demon-spewing rifts in reality was all Cory's doing. He could've been referring to where he was born as a spirit, and just said "boy" because "I began life as a young spirit of Pride" would involve several long and lengthy explanations that people probably wouldn't believe anyway. Regardless, it's a weird thing to lie about, so I think he's telling some version of the truth.

It's called a joke. There might be an element of bitterness or what else, but you can hear it from the tone of their voice that they've been mostly joking - and in case Cassandra is in the party, tease her a little bit.
