Apologies if this has been brought up/discussed before.
Do Solas's eyes look a different colour in Trespasser, or is it just me?
Is that intentional do you think? Or is it just a lighting thing? (I have noticed that throughout the game sometimes Viv's eyes will look blue because of the lighting)

Hmm. I suppose Atisha is more of a halla. She has the pale skin and white hair like a halla, but her nickname has always been dove because of that. Her name also means peace, so dove is a great nickname for her. I shall assume by your profile picture that Atisha is a mage! Haha, that's an interesting mix. Now I'm wondering what that would look like. A wolf-otter or otter-wolf... like something from the Avatar universe xD Is your Lavellan playful and curious? Yes, she is quite playful and curious. Will she keep it, do you think, over the following months or years leading to and during DA4? I think my Lavellan has lost some of her optimism and her easy trust.

I think my Lavellan has lost some of her optimism and her easy trust. For my Lavellan, she certainly lost a bit of her playfulness ever since Solas left. Even more so after Trespasser. Though I think those events made her even stronger and more determined to show Solas that there has to be another way instead of having to destroy the world. (She still keeps her optimism to some extent. xD)

omg yesterday I played the mass effect 3 citadel dlc.. I am romancing garrus (he is so cute) and there was this one dancing scene. At that moment I was just thinking such a similar dancing scene would have been nice with solavellan - like in public. but I guess it's like solas says.. dancing with an apostate doesn't get u many favors lol. sry for mass effect related stuff, I am so stuck with this this series (guess I'll finish it this week). Wanna come back to DAI asap

*snip* I see a lot of awesome Dread Wolf, or white wolf, and halla fan art. I suppose the non-mage Lavellan's wolf tarot card doesn't lend for as much drama in art as the whole predator and prey thing. The lion loved the lamb... bleck now I'm thinking about my unfortunate tastes in literature as a teen. Anywho, I think the halla might fit my mage Lavellan's personality better than a wolf, though if it was me I would not want to be considered or correlated with a prey animal, even a beautiful and majestic one. Does the halla or does the wolf fit your Lavellan better? Whew, finally caught up on the thread after a week of being away in Nointernetland. Considering that I named my Lavellan "Faolchu Ban," which kind of means "white wolf", I definitely identify her with a wolf, not a halla. I never saw her as 'prey' for Solas. They were equals. like the leaders of a wolf pack.

I've never thought of Halla as prey anymore than I think of horses as prey. I know the game presents them no better than a deer, but lore wise, they are supposed to be smarter and more noble than horses. Smart plus hooves equals possibilities of danger to me.

I need to go to bed soon, but I'll just put this out there. My older Lavellan who is a mage is better depicted as a wolf then a halla, since she was more of trying to find a way to exploit the humans and keeping her real feelings under wraps most of the time. The Wicked Hearts quest where she let Celene die so she can prop up Briala short of cemented this in my mind.
As for my for Lavellan!Surana: the whole defiance of the halla really does fit her.

I think after Trespasser my Lavellan associates more with lynxes than with a halla. Lynxes are all about perception, unravelling secrets, hidden knowledge and wisdom, better fitting for a mage Lavellan IMO. She's trying to find out what Solas is up to and trying to discover anything she can about the Evanuris and what exactly happened with the fall of Arlathan. They also happen to be close competitors in nature, I think wolves as predators are the second only to bears and lynxes are third.

Awesome art posts, CapricornSun and Nightsymphony! I'm having issues liking posts for some reason-- hopefully that will resolve itself quickly! I see a lot of awesome Dread Wolf, or white wolf, and halla fan art. Oh jeez, I just saw this post. Anyway - I don't think either really fit. Halla? Too graceful, too pretty, too... hmm, what's the word I'm looking for - overwrought, maybe? It's a very noble looking creature. Very poised and elegant. It'd fit for someone with a personality like Vivienne's, I think. But I'd never use any of those words to describe my Lavellan. Wolf is a bit of a better fit. Scrappier. Pragmatic. But personally, I always associated my Lavellan with a bear. Very blunt and direct, to the point of being awkward. Predatory like a wolf, and just as intensely focused on survival above all else, but with a connotation of strength and endurance over swiftness and cunning. Wolves are also... angrier, I guess. Ferocious. I played my Lavellan as exceptionally stoic and impassive, though. Someone who gets angry very, very rarely. I headcanon her as lacking basic (Well, basic by human standards) skills like reading, writing, social etiquette, at least in the beginning. And as someone who listened way more than she spoke, only pipping up to ask questions or bark a curt order unless she knew her company fairly well. As such, I imagine a lot of people probably take her for an idiot - like how bears are often considered dumb muscle, despite being quite intelligent. And similarly, Lavellan's pretty sharp and calculating, but simply disinclined to share her thoughts aloud - even if she highly disagrees with what someone says or does. Granted, the game made it rather difficult to actually play her like that. The Solasmance in particular seems to assume Lavellan is some variety of teasing minx. Well, I guess she is sort of a trickster type, but not in a smug or teasing fashion. She's someone who never felt a need to gloat or get revenge or prove anything to anyone. Someone who'd devote herself with bone-deep determination and single-minded purpose, with every emotion, goal, and desire coming secondary to that purpose. Solas' line about distracting her from her duty hit pretty hard, since I imagine she felt quite guilty having the relationship and taking something for herself. After Trespasser, their relationship is mostly based on a sad, weary understanding, even as they fight. Both of them know what it's like, to live with duty coming before everything else. Anyway. Yes! There's your answer. I always preferred the bear for her.

Apologies if this has been brought up/discussed before. Do Solas's eyes look a different colour in Trespasser, or is it just me? Is that intentional do you think? Or is it just a lighting thing? (I have noticed that throughout the game sometimes Viv's eyes will look blue because of the lighting) I don't think Solas's eye color was changed intentionally. I would assume lighting and the fact that Solas looks changed overall is the reason you might notice an eye color difference. At the same though I haven't compared screenshots and I went from an Xbox 360 to a One for Trespasser, so everything looked different to me *snip* I see a lot of awesome Dread Wolf, or white wolf, and halla fan art. I suppose the non-mage Lavellan's wolf tarot card doesn't lend for as much drama in art as the whole predator and prey thing. The lion loved the lamb... bleck now I'm thinking about my unfortunate tastes in literature as a teen. Considering that I named my Lavellan "Faolchu Ban," which kind of means "white wolf", I definitely identify her with a wolf, not a halla. I never saw her as 'prey' for Solas. They were equals. like the leaders of a wolf pack. Nointernetland... that doesn't sound like a nice place. It sounds cold and lonely and unconnected. Welcome back to Internetland! I think it's mostly post-Trespasser fanfiction that sees Solas and Lavellan as having a predator and prey relationship. The whole not-god trying to end the wotld as we know it and the mere mortal love he left, trying to stop him, with power of love!-- lends itself to imaginations going wild I, too, see my own Lavellan as an equal to Solas when it comes to their relationship. I've never thought of Halla as prey anymore than I think of horses as prey. I know the game presents them no better than a deer, but lore wise, they are supposed to be smarter and more noble than horses. Smart plus hooves equals possibilities of danger to me. They certainly aren't prey on the level that rabbits are, but horses are technically, prey animals, but only insofar as an elephant is. They're considered prey because they aren't predators or scavengers, not because they are animals that are often hunted down and eaten themselves (though it does happen). I think too much emphasis and symbolism is given to predators and prey. Predators always think they're so great because they have power over prey, who they deem lesser, but a predator's survival is dependent on prey-- the bottom of the food chain. Without them, they die out. You know what type of animal is really great? Scavengers. They don't need nobody to survive (well, they do, but not in the same way)! Scavengers are the smartest of animals (with few exceptions), they can thrive in human settlements, and their populations rise up the quickest after disasters! I need to go to bed soon, but I'll just put this out there. It was, although ironically my canon Warden's a Surana who's basically the complete opposite of my Lavellan. She was very bubbly and energetic and emotional - someone who got really happy when she was happy and really sad when she was sad, etc. I always imagined her as some sort of chittery bird, or maybe a mouse. And yet in game she's like this utterly stoic woman with complete dead-eyed composure even when staring down a dragon. When you get that letter from your Warden in Inquisition, I just imagine her going through a hundred different rough drafts trying to find one that actually sounded composed and professional and not like the crazed ramblings of a woman with a bit of a panicky disposition, because the actual letter itself did not sound like her at all.

Hahaha, yeah, going back to Origins after having played DA2 and Inquisition was funny. I'm glad that the camera focused on the back of the Warden's head for the most part there are still moments though. The Origin love scenes, hahahaha! My Tabris probably had Nathaniel write it (I headcanon my Warden Wardening with Zevran and her Awakening crew + Shale.) She was attempting a letter, but as Zevran's suggestions became increasingly unhelpful she crumbled the letter up and threw it at Zevran. Nathaniel just sighed at the two of them and told Tabris that she'll never send out a letter if she wastes the last of their paper (he then eyes a crumpled pile) and Tabris crosses her arms and snarks at him to do it then. After Nathaniel begins the letter, Zevran begins his unhelpful suggestions again, and Tabris joins in. Nathaniel sighs again. Awesome art posts, CapricornSun and Nightsymphony! Ooh, I never noticed anything like that with the halla. I'm not a big deer, deer-like animals, fan myself. The small ones are cute, but meh, to the others. But creepy children laughter will definitely put halla even lower on the list.

Lol the 'creepy children laughter'. How worse would it be if the reason for that is that Ghilan'nain used children as the source material for Hallas? Hey has to come from somewhere right? (This may or may not be in a story I'm writing )

I have to thank YouTube and its recommendations, because I've never seen these videos before! Dragon Age: Inquisition- Funny Moments. They're long videos, but worth the watch if you have the time and haven't seen them before. JJDani's editing is perfect

Hi guys! I doubt you'll remember me; I was around before Inquisition was even out. I'm just dropping by to say hi and possibly take refuge in the blanketfort

Apologies if this has been brought up/discussed before. Do Solas's eyes look a different colour in Trespasser, or is it just me? Is that intentional do you think? Or is it just a lighting thing? (I have noticed that throughout the game sometimes Viv's eyes will look blue because of the lighting) I played on a PC the whole way through, and his eyes always looked storm-grey to me. The lighting changes them slightly, as it appears to change eye colour in reality, but they're always storm-grey for me.

The reason their color "changes" is merely because a lot of people confuse reflected light from the surroundings to be a color of things that the reflected light... well, reflects on. I mean, look at these screenshots: Now, don't look at Solas's eye color, but the color on his skin - on 2nd picture it looks darker and grayer than it does on 1st. On 3rd picture he looks orange. On 4th picture he's blueish-green! Yet nobody in their right mind would say that Solas is a chameleon No, what changes color is environment and lightning around him, which affects color of his skin - and the color of his eyes. Which are grey. And grey eyes especially have a tendency to 'absorb' some of the color of surrounding, which sometimes make it difficult for people to tell what exactly eye color they have. In neutral lighting however and in case of datamaning raw files his eyes have consistently been just your typical grey. What's more, he uses the same eye texture they gave to Leliana and Josephine, among others.

I just watched a Trespasser video, Solas romance of course. I don't know why I did that to myself. The music and everything just...sigh. Now I need to find something funny before I go to bed.

Hi guys! I doubt you'll remember me; I was around before Inquisition was even out. I'm just dropping by to say hi and possibly take refuge in the blanketfort Hi, Meadknight! No, I don't remember you! but I didn't live in the Blanketfort pre-Inquisition (I was an observer and sometimes timid responder of the top secret Solas spoiler and theory thread. Ah, yes, I miss that crazy community and its fascinating, if completely unrealistic, theories that this certain bald elf mage was actually Fen'Harel from the Elvhen pantheon. Ha. As if BioWare would make a god one of your companions! Ridiculous! But we all had a good time with our theories!) So my remembering ability doesn't count for much in this situation! But yes, come, take refuge in our fort of blankets and fan tears! We here are the Solas addiction feeders romance/friendship recovery unit!
