Hey, Neverlandhunter . Thank you, it's good to see you too! Since you mentioned Kala S, I suppose it's relevant that I let anyone here who enjoyed my YouTube videos know that I recently deleted that page and the videos too. I really regret that I had to do it, but I had a pretty scary experience on Facebook where someone started talking to me but was pretending to be someone else. It wasn't related to the Solas fandom AT ALL, but it freaked me out a lot so I wanted to erase most of my online presence in fear of my privacy and identity. I still have them saved on my harddrive, so if anyone in the future wants me to reupload them for any reason--I'd gladly do so on a new YouTube account Oh, that's why I couldn't find any of your videos! This was recent? Anyway, that's really awful and I'm sorry that happened to you. I'd love to see your channel or channel 2.0 up again, no pressure though! Yes, it actually happened just in the past couple days. In fact, ironically I suppose, it's why I came back to BSN in the first place when I was going through the forums and social media I'd go on. So, I could say there was a silver lining to all of that because I would have really hated to never have found out about this refuge and never see any of you again! Going on a tangent here lol, but I definitely had a hard lesson on privacy issues on the internet though. I was pretty careless in the past about it, even this username--kalasaurus--has my real name in it (which I don't want to drop here, just yet anyway). But yeah, I had *a lot* of videos so it may take some time. There may be a chance that a few will be missing, but I will try my best soon to recreate a channel 2.0 I hope to also get a better desktop computer soon too so I can experience Andromeda and make even more fan videos! My gaming laptop is on its last leg

Random, but I just remembered when this thread on the old BSN was called Elven Glory! and smiled. This is all news to me so I'm still going through the stages of nostalgia and grief for the old BSN

Random, but I just remembered when this thread on the old BSN was called Elven Glory! and smiled. This is all news to me so I'm still going through the stages of nostalgia and grief for the old BSN It really does suck. Most of us have had three months to get over it, since the initial announcement until today's final deletion. The loss of a great many members is crap, and I hope we can recover as many as possible in the months to come. This "refreshed" community has a much healthier vibe, though, so that much is good. Both the tone of the conversations here and the moderation is far better than it was on the old BSN. Once the sting of the loss fades, I think you'll find this new BSN as good as the old, and better in some ways. It really did bum me out for a while, though. On a DAI-specific note, I have created a Female Lavellan Sword-and-Board Warrior, tonight. I already have a very enjoyable Human Male 2-H Champion and perfectly serviceable Human Female KE in progress. (I really need to finish my human playthroughs!) I can't seem to lay off the elves. I blame Solas, great elvhen lore and the beautiful elves that just pop out of the CC everytime I select "New Game". I really need to take pics of my sliders, since I'm fond of this elf, and just save her for a later playthrough. If I'm going to keep hammering away at DAI, I need to finish my Human Champion.

Yes, in my brief time here I have definitely noticed the healthier vibe. I was around during the whole ME3 ending fiasco so I definitely get what you mean. Finding this place has definitely taken the edge off a lot of that sting, though, and for that I'm really grateful! I too can't stop making Lavellans--the Character Creator and the wealth of mods at my disposal were half the fun of DA:I! I actually had sliders uploaded for this Lavellan in my avatar on imgur, but that account and images were lost too during my frantic internet disappearing act lol. I suppose I can always retake sliders in the near future and reupload those too. I didn't have the heart to cut ties completely with BSN, though. And I do look forward to the upcoming release of Andromeda. Part of the gaming experience for me (particularly Bioware games) was discussing my playthroughs during and after them, sharing screenshots, and just talking about the games along with their depth of intriguing characters, plot, and lore. It adds to the fun for me, and I am glad I still have the opportunity to do so in the future.

I would not want the Veil coming down to be end of the series. It would be too much like ME's RBG ending, with no follow-up to anything, and just leave us hanging for no reason. They seem to like doing that to us though, because drama (and fan tears). Following ME they could just blow up Thedas with the fall of the veil and start the next game in the series with us as survivors on a ship at sea heading towards the unknown. That is a terrible idea. They'd better not do that. Don't give them ideas. Truly, they seem to have their act together far better than the ME team ever did. I'm hoping MEA is the start of a new day for ME, in terms of the team actually having a plan. With the Inquisition making tentative contact with "those from across the sea", we've now been teased that those story possibilities beyond Thedas aren't out of the question. We have strange notes about "Scaled Ones battling Moon Men". We have all of the well known cultures' major questions still left to answer. The realist in me says that DA4, or the game after, will be the final game. The Veil will come down, the world will survive, adapt and forever change. All the big questions will be answered. Realistically, though, they could string this along for years. They have done such a good job with the gradual revelation of major plot points and lore that they could still be sitting on a dozen games' worth of stories. I'm sure they have more to share than we'll ever actually play. That is kind of sad, in a way, but it is preferable to the well running dry or stale.

BioWare's corporate doublespeak that was supposed to explain why they'd elected to shutdown the forums never actually touched upon this truth-- the forums are for us, for the fans. We come here to talk about the games, share experiences, and the like. If devs join in, that's awesome, but we don't have to have them. We lost the "official support", but we also lost the oppressive moderation and the negative cloud when we came here, so we're doing okay. This site is already consistently showing up on the first page of Google results when I do Mass Effect and Dragon Age searches. That will continue to improve as we cultivate our online visibility, especially now that the old #1 result is gone forever. That's terrible that you've had this experience with this online creep. I've stayed on my wife for years about keeping a minimalist online presence, and she's usually listened. Only recently has she really come to understand, though. There are a lot of crazy, creepy, and/or shady people in the world. I hope you're in the clear, now. I'll bet a lot of people are lamenting the disappearance of Meera's sliders!

I wouldn't say that they didn't take into account that the BSN served as gathering site for fans, but I think that the community flourishing on this forum has proven everyone that official BSN... really isn't needed. Personally, having experience I've had with managing online forums, I think that if we come to a conclusion that it's time to pull the plug (for whatever reason)... then it's time to pull the plug. People were given time to rally and gather in other spots on the web, and it seems to me that we're doing fine here so far - and hopefully we'll keep doing fine, while BW will focus on other forms of online communication they think works better for them.

There are a lot of crazy, creepy, and/or shady people in the world. I hope you're in the clear, now. I'll bet a lot of people are lamenting the disappearance of Meera's sliders! Indeed, I thought their line of reasoning about doing it for the fans was a bit odd--especially since opting for social media to communicate/discuss the games isn't an option or desire for many. Myself included now after my social media blackout! I stayed on tumblr because the modding and fanart communities are great there, but beyond reblogging some cool art/mods/screenshots and sharing some of my characters, I really would rather not make a larger presence there by actively communicating with devs or other fans. That and the communication format both on tumblr and other social media (Facebook/reddit/twitter) is nowhere near ideal to engage with a community if I were to have a question/concern/complaint/or even just wanted to ramble on about Solas! And at least here if I for some reason wanted to go off the grid, I could, and not worry about stray creeps lurking in the shadows like they do in social media. Oh, and I'm glad to hear that this site is appearing on Google. I'm sure there are many like me who take occasional breaks from BSN when they aren't playing the games, but still enjoy to come back to engage with the community when they either go back for a playthrough or to join in the hype of a new game (Andromeda!!!!). I think I'm in the clear now, though. I just have to be more careful, particularly on Facebook since their inane real-name policy won't grant me real anonymity. I deactivated my account (but kept messenger active because it makes it easier to communicate with family and friends). I probably will go back on in a few months but will in *no* way talk to/add people unless I actually know them and am 100% sure they're legit. Really scary stuff! And I'm not letting Meera get away! I worked too hard on this elf, dammit!

I hope that in the end the good outweighed the bad! Also, Garrus... I'm curious, which ending did you pick? Myself I totally destroyed the Reapers and got the Shepard gasp-scene, so I felt it was bittersweet.

Hopefully with MEA more people will find us here. It does help we've got BSN in our name. (what ever happened to that other BSN replacement?)

Meh. They fed us a line of PR BS in their reasoning, instead of just saying that they no longer wanted to support an official forum. Conal at least admitted it was in no way a financial decision, but that wasn't part of the official statement. We can each separately speculate as to their true motivations, if we wish. (No official pit of vipers, as it became after DA2 and ME3?) Ultimately, the important thing is that you're correct-- the community can continue without their official support. They did give us time to regroup, and tolerate our usage of their BSN namesake for our new home. I'm not mad at them, but their announcement was silly and disingenuous.

The fact that I'm posting in the Straight Male Romance Was Shafted thread really makes me feel like this place is home, you know? Things really haven't changed. I'm getting all nostalgic here. I saw that thread, and think I might've posted a similar thought to this one therein. I remember thinking the OP may have created it simply for nostalgia.

wew, bioware forum finally offline, Original Blanketfort finally vanished into the ether. It's alright, you can always take a bit of a nap to get your energy back, and then wake up and destroy this mockery of the original BSN and bring back the glory of the previous one!

I'm not sure why they should write they no longer want to support an official forum, when switching it off sort of speaks for itself . For me that's sort of redundant. I also don't personally see a problem with their official message - they've open the forum for fans to interact with the devs; than no longer happened (or was too scarce to be of any worth to much anybody), so they got rid of the forum and moved somewhere else. And judging from Gaider's comment on twitter that decision was long overdue on their part - they seem to have waited to turn off the forum during the dry season for BW games. But that's all said and done - the BSN is dead, long live the (unofficial) BSN.

I am finally back playing DA:I again.. that calms me down ... Yesterday I finished ME3 - my first playthrough for the whole series .. and .. cried like a baby for several hours. But today it's better.. just doing some shit in DAI, hearing nice banter... no deaths ... *sigh* *tearing up again* Aww, I feel kinda bad for encouraging you to play it now! I hope that in the end the good outweighed the bad! Also, Garrus... I'm curious, which ending did you pick? Myself I totally destroyed the Reapers and got the Shepard gasp-scene, so I felt it was bittersweet. Noh it's fine I really enjoyed the whole series especially ME2 with the lovely Garrus romance he is so cute. Of course the good outweighed the bad but still it hurts. I accidentally chose the wrong "way", I was so paralyzed because of the end that I didn't get what I should do and went straight to "synthesis".. I wanted to reload again but it was too late -.- I wanted to destroy the reaper. I also played some multiplayer to get my military strengh over 5000 ... god damn it. I watched the other videos online.. I mean they are not so different ... the end is a little bit disappointing. Fuck I want turian-human babys or Shakarian with a lot of krogan babys Element Zero I don't know what I like more. DA and ME are different and also very alike in some ways. I was a Paragon and no u can ask me if you want to I am not tearing up again or at least I hope so xD yesterday I cried enough my bf said he has never seen me like that before. not even after the trespasser dlc. Solas thank u it will be alright.. somehow xD
