I certainly hope they don't go that direction with the next game. Our poor Lavellan, growing old and dying without ever getting closure. That would suck. He did say, "I'll never forget you." Like he'd never see her again. He doesn't expect to see her again, I think. But damn if she'll let him wallow alone in his misery until such time as he can bring down the veil. She'll remind him of her presence soon enough, eh!

CapricornSun That older Lavellan Artwork reminded me of this thought. What if Solas waited for his Veil tearing until all his friends/lovers were dead? He'd only be delaying like 80 years, a blip considering the 1000-4000 years old he's slept. I certainly hope they don't go that direction with the next game. Our poor Lavellan, growing old and dying without ever getting closure. That would suck. They're going to troll us about it for a bit then, most assuredly, they'll knit up the Lavellan/Solas relationship in the next game. I'll bet $20 on that. With one person. I ain't no Bill Gates.

CapricornSun That older Lavellan Artwork reminded me of this thought. What if Solas waited for his Veil tearing until all his friends/lovers were dead? He'd only be delaying like 80 years, a blip considering the 1000-4000 years old he's slept. I know we're talking about a guy who appears to have a plan to destroy (in one way or another) modern Thedas and all people in it, but I'd think less of Solas if he just waited with the end of the world after people he liked/loved died. The "uh, I won't do that because I don't want to see people I like/love to suffer.... the rest I don't care as much" would simply rub me the wrong way. Solas may find it easier to disassociate himself with people he didn't interact with, but it's fairly apparent that behind all that schooled cool veneer and millenia of loneliness and cracks from having to do all these things that go against his principles he still *cares*. ...Nevermind that I think that he won't wait anyway, simply because he can't. It's 'now or never' situation - this is why he awoke from Uthenera, even though he admitted that he was still weak at that point. This is also why he chose to give his Orb to Corypheus. It can certainly be said that it wasn't a part of elaborate plan that he concocted over centuries, simply because it's highly unlikely that he could have predicted what would transpire - the unleashing of Corypheus by Hawke or Cory later seizing power amongst influential supremacist movement working in secrecy in Tevinter. Heck, it's actually likely he had no inkling that Coryphus was anything but influential, power-crazy Tevinter noble when he led Venatori to his orb (he's very specific when he says that his agents interacted with Venatori agents and not with their leader). For me, this has always smelled of desperation. There's something coming that he either tries to prevent or something that will help him realize his plans.

Honestly, I feel like all of Trespasser was just retiring the inquisition and the mystery of Solas with a lot of great devoted dialogue to the Solas LAvellan relationship. I'm not even the BIGGEST Solas fan, but even I'd be miffed if there wasn't more.

No worries, I wasn't being mad at you or anything. I was writing that and thinking of the overly attached girlfriend actually I just can't jump on the band wagon of "Joining Solas in his task." That'd be a bit too much like Utha and the Architect to me. I can't either. I love the answer he gives when you propose it -- it has a lot of pathos and the voice acting is superb -- but there is no way my Inquisitor would ever say that. She's spent several years by that point working very hard to make the world a little better and safer for everyone. No way she'll throw all that away. And the way Solas talks about the consequences of taking the veil down just makes her blood run cold. She saw what happened to Arlathan, and she saw what the explosion at the conclave did. Which is why she sees only two alternatives. The first is to change his mind/offer a better solution for everyone. Or, if that fails, end his life. She feels it is her personal duty to see one of those two outcome come to pass. ... If she does end up having to kill him though, I'm not sure she'll survive it. Edit: Oh, dang. I don't have a ToP Solas. Hmmm... *Imagine sexy Solas picture here*

Solas Confessions
1. I actually found Solas really annoying during my first playthrough (yes, I was romancing him)
2. My Inquisitor never once thought Solas broke up with her over Vallaslin. WTF.
DAI Confessions
1. I really didn't try that hard to understood what Sera was saying
2. Whenever someone calls their Inquisitor 'Inky' I always picture a Dalish elf, who during their vallaslin ceremony, just had a whole bottle of ink poured over their head.
3. I guessed Blackwall's secret the first time I talked to him.
4. When Blackwall and Dorian bicker, I imagine their moustaches jumping off their faces and fighting each other.
5. I think Cassandra is too nice sometimes, and I don't like it.
6. I preferred Dagna in DAO. Also, doesn't 'Widdle' mean 'pee'?
7. I still don't understand how Tranquils can have a preference for anything
8. I seriously think DAI Cullen needs a tan

I don't feel that was real growth but more of an explanation as to why she is the way she is. I just felt like she really didn't change by how she reacts to Lavellan if she is romancing them after the Temple of Mythal. If anything, it felt like Sera regressed even more. Regressed? Even more? When she joined the Inquisition she could hardly speak with an elf, much less a Dalish one. She can end up befriending or even loving one. That's hardly 'regress'. Also - you have to keep in mind what you're working with. Some people need more time with change than others - doesn't mean that the change isn't in effect. Even the fact that Sera took Inky on that rooftop is a significant indicator of change. Don't forget that prior to that Sera won't even tell Inquisitor where she's from and evades pretty much all of questions about her past. She detests self-reflection and doesn't want to dwell on it, but she gives it a try with a person she trusts. For her it was important step - but you can't expect for her to change outright. Hence her reactions, like those after ToM. I can't say I hate that. It's more realistic that way. Inky will help their friends grow, but some of that change will take time. Fair enough. I was focusing more in change of perspective. I was wrong when I said she "regressed even more." What I meant was that, if Lavellan doesn't back down to Sera's demand, she seem to take a step back and revert back into her shell.

My DAI confessions... Hmmmm.
For my first 2 play throughs I really didn't like Solas. Even punched him.
I was very surprised when the feels hit me when I did my first Lavellan and Solas romance play through.
Now I am obsessed with Solas. There is no one more shocked at this fact than me.
I only found out on my 4th play through where the Ocularums skulls came from.
Was horrified.
Realised on my 4th play through that although I'd always done the quests to help the refugees, I never spoke to Corporal Vale to completely finish them and recruit him since there's no quest marker to do so. So in my other play throughs its as if my quizzy just walked on by whistling a happy tune whilst everyone starved and froze to death. Always wondered why Mother Giselle kept telling me the refugees were desperate. Just presumed she'd not got the Raven message yet about all my fabulously heroic deeds.
And last but not least... I think about Dragon Age way too much.
.... I'm sure there's more rattling around in my brain just can't think of any just yet.

In order to recruit Vale, you have to do the refugee quests (rams and supply caches), take out both mage and Templar camps in the Hinterlands, and bring the Redcliffe healer to the Crossroads. Then go talk to Vale.
Solas confession: I thought the trip to FadeHaven was part of the romance, until I got it again in my second PT when I romanced Cullen. Was actually kind of disappointed it wasn't romance-specific.

Speaking of people I missed recruiting, you can also go back to the Cult of the Breach or whatever its called in the Hinterlands and recruit the elf that gives you the potion to help his mother breathe. There's some Solas specific dialogue there as well if you bring him along. Confession: In my first playthrough when Solas breaks up with Lavellan, I wasn't so much sad or angry, but I was completely in disbelief and couldn't enter the rotunda for a while. I was just sort of standing in front of the door awkwardly everytime I walked past it. Varric was probably wondering what the hell was going on. The first time I went through it after that I didn't even look at Solas, I ran straight up the stairs to talk to Dorian.

Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesALTHOUGH... Bell @desert_Bell Too late. Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesCelene and Briala kiss. Celene takes off Orlesian mask. Is Solas underneath. Bell @desert_BellNow I can't stop imagining Solas in that blue dress. It's not pretty. Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes S: I cannot betray my love for another, no matter what you- Briala: I have so many questions about ancient elves! S: /sploosh Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesBriala moves to stroke Solas's cheek. He pauses, passes her something. "Please use this instead." Is Inquisitor's hand. Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesOkay, Bell, I was initially skeptical, but thank you so much for pointing this possibility out to me. Much to consider here. ❤️ Mike Laidlaw @mike_Laidlaw Patrick? Patrick was being... extra Patrick-y tonight. Enjoy. Or... something. Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesBriala moves to stroke Solas's cheek. He pauses, passes her something. "Please use this instead." Is Inquisitor's hand. This is where I died laughing.

For #6 .... I think you're thinking of the word "piddle"; usually "widdle" is adult-baby-talk for "little" "Widdle" and "Piddle" can be synonymous in the UK. Although both terms are only ever really used as adult-baby-talk for parents asking if their lil'luns need to go. Does make Sera's pet nickname for Dagna a little weird, when you think about it?
