I admit I HAVE written smut at work before. But in the case of those two, their relationship I think has always struck me as being more intimate than sexual. Yet, it is part of my headcanon that they do the deed at least one before he breaks up with her (discovering Ameridan's fate gave her the kick in the tush needed to actually ask Solas for sex lol). I've been wanting to write it down for quite a while now, but my brain's just not cooperating. I've been sitting on the half-done thing for the last week now. I think it could go either way. That comment at the Winter Palace makes me think he's definitely rutted for the fun of it before. also this, which I've posted before. It amuses me so much. LOL, thanks for making me snicker out loud in the office. That was hilarious. As for Solas, I totally see how he could be quite physical and sexual. Things like what you mention from the Winter palace, or that early flirt in Haven (and those kisses!), definitely demonstrate that. But, for me at least, I felt he always pulled himself back during the relationship, and it ended up in my head that I imagined their relationship much more based on mutual understanding, discussion, and trust (ha!) than sex. Sex happened toward the end, because she asked mostly, and he gave in as he also thought they might well die like Ameridan and Telanna did, but it was never given much chance to flourish between them. Too many secrets. Too many regrets. Argh, the angst!

So, I've been thinking of a scene between my Anise Lavellan and Solas that is a Thedas Fade version of this clip from Fern Gully.
I'm so glad I could find it on youtube. Not all movie clips are on the internet.

phoray Being a sucker for musicals of all sort, I totally approve I love random musical numbers. I didn't know Leliana would bust out a song post Dalish until my third play through of Origins. I was like.... So glad I'd saved before conversation, because I then reloaded and listened/watched her two more times. And as much as I understand how awkward Until Dawn we come, or whatever that song was, in DAI, the first time it happened it was damn magical. I'm a 90s kid, I grew up on Disney. GIMME MORE. I mean, maryden is alright, but she's some nobody in the scheme of things.

phoray That first time with the Dawn will come scene, I got chills I'll admit. It was so unexpected. My poor Trevelyan was totally spooked, but I was eating that shit up! Then, when you get to the arrival at Skyhold, damn. That was some powerful visual storytelling (and the music soaring at the same time!) I'm on my I-don't-even-know-how-many playthrough now and it stills hit me every time, even if it's not as strong now.

The advisors have all the benefits of all those inner circle meeting tack ons for the romance. But it's taken me a lot to get into Solas at all. Had to read fanfiction, hang out on here, and spend hours upon hours crafting the background of a Lavellan for him.

Interesting theories abound! As for dragon intelligence, I know that the lore you receive in-game is that dragons are unreasoning beasts. But then there's Ataashi, a dragon who has been tortured for months by two-legged creatures and who thinks nothing of attacking you and/or your party while you are trying to rotate the rings and blow up the cart. As far as she is concerned, you are just more horrible two-legged torturers. But once you open the gates, she seems to have a moment where she looks at you and recognizes that you have just made it possible for her to escape. I think an actual unreasoning beast would be more likely to keep attacking its perceived tormentors until nothing's left standing. I kind of wonder whether she does that as a subtle hint to the player that what we thought we knew about dragons in Thedas might be wrong.
She then proceeds to purposefully stomp on a couple of the two-legged creatures that were responsible for her torture on her way out.

The Disciples of Andraste lived alongside the High Dragon and it's offspring with seemingly no trouble, so it seems that Dragons are intelligent enough to recognise certain individuals as allies.
It could be the cultists achieved this because they left offerings of food to appease it into not attacking. Or perhaps due to so many of the cultists having become Reavers, the Dragon may have sensed the dragon blood in them and perceived them as the same.
Yavana had some influence over the Dragons in the Silent Grove, but it could have been due something she learned from Flemeth, which was how the Inquisitor was capable of taming the Shrine Guardian if they drank from the Well.
But I do like the idea that Dragons are far smarter than people give them credit for, able to reason and distinguish between friend and foe. Saving Ataashi in Trespasser did feel sort of like an "Androcles and the Lion" type situation, where it recognised our having rescued it from suffering.

She then proceeds to purposefully stomp on a couple of the two-legged creatures that were responsible for her torture on her way out. Well, I don't think anyone can forget about both Mythal's and Corypheus' dragons. Cory's dragon could be theorized to have her intelligence boosted by the Blight) though it does seem to have an opposite effect most of the time) but Mythal's guardian seemed to be a smart beast that arrived when summoned and did what a person that commands it has asked of her. Anyway, it's been a while since I've had a wacky theory that eventually Thedas will turn out to be a little like LeGuin's Earthsea... ...where it turned out that people and dragons were one once, only in time either have forgotten it, with people choosing to be cooperating and industrious and dragons choosing freedom and power. In the end either tribes have stuck to permanent shape.
... in fact we already sort of have the hints of that, that with both Morrigan and Mythal (and it being kind of a big deal) turning to dragons and implications the dragon shape was at one time sacred/reserved to Evanuris' chosen at times of Elvenhan.

It... probably isn't helping that I'm at work right now *whistles* I wouldn't recommend it then. I remember when I was a teen in vocational college, the teacher checked my screen and I was totally writing Inu Yasha fan fiction smut, and she came over to tell me that wasn't appropriate for class time. I don't blush often, I'm not much of a blusher, but I sure turned red that time. I just died a little in embarrassment for your past self, Phoray. How did you ever overcome that? One doesn't need wings to fly in the Fade. The only way I get into this romance at all is by imagining a bunch of stuff that doesn't happen. In game scenes alone, I'm so meh. In general, I find all romance scenes pretty awkward, not just his (the bane of video games is that uncanny valley stuff), so I go on other things. His voice mostly, and his personality/writing of his character. Haha, nothing beats the dead eyed orgasm face from Origins. Ahh, memories. The dragon battles are one of the best things about Inquisition and yet story-wise, going out and slaughtering all the dragons in southern Thedas is terrible. This play-through of my canon Inwquisitor, I'm going to try and avoid the urge to get my adrenaline pumping and have a blast slaying dragons because it's out of character for my Lavellan to do so... they are the best fights though... I'm sorry Bull! Does anyone else have this dilemma?

I never kill the dragons that are out there minding their own business. The one where you have to bait the poor thing out in the middle of nowhere to slaughter it? No way, I feel too guilty about it. I usually find it reasonable for my Inquisitor to kill the dragons that have been attacking townspeople, though. The bones sure do make some great armor and weapons, but I tend to buy out the stock at the Black Emporium before killing one that's just been chilling on a rock for a while lol

The annoying part is that a lot of the best gear can only be obtained by killing dragons. First run I didn't want to harm any but I ended the game without getting Bull's personal quest due to my approval being too low. I wasn't sure how I was going to get over this and then I read that his approval really bumps up if you take him dragon hunting. So I started with the Crestwood dragon since that was threatening people. Then I discovered you only get the Inquisitor helmet by killing a dragon. So then I got curious as to just what things I was missing out on. I blame the developers in a way that they made dragons just another collection item that you could chalk up on your trophy list. In previous games there was always a reason why you had to kill a dragon that didn't make you feel an utter bastard for doing so.
What was annoying was that your decision on whether or not to save Atashi is not recorded in the Keep. I was rather hoping that in the future Atashi might help your new PC (or old one if they return) if you freed her but sadly it would appear that is not going to be the case.
High dragons have always appeared to have a degree of intelligence, more so than normal dragons, so it may be that the intelligence increases with size and age. We have yet to encounter a Great Dragon in game but the one in Silent Grove seemed capable of understanding the language that Yavana used. At the very least they are probably like halla, which the Dalish claim are never tamed but simply befriended and then willingly offer their assistance. In this instance I tend to agree with Morrigan, that humans have been too quick to destroy what they do not fully understand.

Well I do xD; The dragons usually lose with my Inner Completionist Usually just headcanon that the dragons were a threat or generally a nuisance for whatever reason.
