Another angle of Solas with hair. I think it's growing on me I like the style immensely, it's the color that's taking me a bit to adjust to. Perhaps there will be mods to darken it a bit. Or maybe I'll get used to it and it will not matter. Quick... someone make a daimod for Inquisition! The color matches his freckles.

Oh yes, I do agree about the color! I always assumed (and judging from his own mural where he has hair) the color will be darker.
He is still hot, of course. But less than his present bald self, imo.
They nailed his younger look though with facial expressions and voice.

Look, that's is the closest to a smile we've seen from pookie in the past decade A rare gem. He also gave us another gift in that scene. Did anyone catch it? He was 'singing' again. God, I missed that so much.

I couldn't resist! Maybe small spoilers for Rook's first meeting with Solas, I guess? "I had a plan." This cracks me up. It's right up there with "we were on a break!". Also suggesting that Varric tends to be economic with the truth as well, so essentially pot calling the kettle black. It was also a bit unfair on Varric in this case because that is what the Inquisitor told him of their conversation with Solas. Also, if Varric had got it wrong, why didn't Solas tell him when he was standing right there in front of him. I had to admit I'd be tempted to sarcasm in that conversation even if that wasn't normally my Rook's style.

Happy ending vs drama aren't mutually excusive. I don't think any of us expected there NOT to be drama with Solavellan. Doesn't mean it can't have a chance (out of probably several different endings) to have a happy-ish or at least satisfactory outcome.

I've considered this, and the answer I came to was pretty simple. Varric didn't ask. At least not the right questions. He came right up assuming he knew what was happening, and making accusations about tearing down the veil. So that is what Solas responded to. Had Varric come and asked, "what are you doing?", Solas very well may have told him. That's how I see it, I guess. I'm sorry but that just doesn't wash. Solas isn't stupid. Why did he keep apologising to the Inquisitor for what he was going to do? Why did he say, enjoy the peace I gave you in the time you have left until my ritual completes? Why did he say the return of his people would mean the destruction of theirs? He knew what he said to them. Okay, so he left Varric a message in the Missing saying he was going to mitigate the damage or some such, so don't keep following me. Why, when Varric turned up uninvited (I assume) didn't Solas simply say: "Look Varric, I'm busy dealing with the god problem. We'll discuss it further when I've finished with them." Or "You've got it wrong, I'm not destroying the world." Or anything really. He muttered something about the world needed healing, which was true (because of the growing Blight problem even without the Evanuris) but he really needed to go a bit further. Anyway, as I say, Varric's information was based largely on what the Inquisitor told him. (Remember the amount of information he got from a hostile Inquisitor was even less because Solas told them less). He didn't lie to Rook, he just told him as he understood it based off what Solas had told them and the companions had learned elsewhere during Trespasser. Then Rook acted based off that information.

*le sigh* Twitter is becoming a toxic wasteland full of very weird people - now, some of those very weird people insist on dunking on Solavellans for the sole reason of potentially getting a romance conclusion (regardless of how it's going to be).
I've even encountered someone arguing that they've sacrificed all the other choices of other players in the game just to give Solavellans a romance conclusion, which is a level of brainrot that baffles even this veteran Twitter doomscroller.
Brainrot aside though... it does surprise me to how many people it seems to come as a surprise that DAVe is going to be a very Solas-centric game, and that this is not a recent development, but something reliant upon years of planning. We've had Trespasser. If there was any marketing material, it was usually Solas-centric, and all the things they revealed so far suggest a very Solas-centric game. Heck, the game itself was called "Dreadwolf" until they switched it very recently!
....Like, how is that a surprise to anyone, at this point???

Becoming a toxic wasteland? Yeah most places aren't taken the news about world states very well. Tumblr is probably most even-keeled about it that I've seen. At least the band aide was ripped off prior to release.

At least the band aide was ripped off prior to release. Oh, it was toxic, but it wasn't necessarily a wasteland An the remaining fauna definitely got a hell of a lot worse. Anyway - I'm not losing much sleep over few choices, because the game's not out yet and we don't even know where all of this is heading, etc... It may even be that despite touting Inky's involvement as fairly significant we get very little in the end, while they somehow manage to cram every cameo in existence, and we'd be able to modify some worldstates through dialogue choices enough to satisfy those who want references and cameos (oh, who am I kidding??? I still remember how Inquisition got flack for apparently not doing enough, or doing things wrong). I mean, who knows at this point. The good thing is we don't have to wait very long to find out.

What gets me about all of this is that all DAI LI's got their closure in Trespasser... except Solas. The hell people are complaining about? Yea, I've pointed out to someone that Sollavelan is simply getting a conclusion they never got in the base game or Trespasser - unlike other LI - and the only response I got is that we did get an ending; it was just a sad ending, and apparently we should be content with what we got And honestly, even if we concede that point about getting a sad ending... I'm baffled by the insistence that the Veilguard story has been changed, or choices/other romances have been cut out from Veilguard to give Solavellan a conclusion. The only reason we get anything is because they've long been planning a conclusion of relationship of Solas and Inky in DA4 (regardless whether they're lovers, friends, or enemies). Solavellan is merely a flavor, entirely reliant on them retaining Solas and Inky - not the other way around (the sad thing is I saw Trick Weekes and Corinne Busche being smeared for being supposedly obsessive Solavellan fans who destroyed Gaider's story to give the Trick's darling a sappy ending... while completely ignoring the fact that Solas is actually David Gaider's character, co-written by Gaider in DAI, and that story of DAVe was initially supposed to be the 2nd half of Inquisition, so one that Gaider planned and approved of before leaving). Anyway, I think some people may be resentful that - whether it's just humorous trolling or not - romanced Lavellan may be the default worldstate (which we have no confirmation of) and somehow confuse it with level of importance to the story, rather than a bit of flavoring that makes the story a tiny bit spicier??? The other is that... well, some people don't like Solas, and made fun of Solavellans for being hopeful that Solavellan will be retained, even if only to add a bit more drama to Solas' personal story. So some of those silly comments may simply be resentment for being wrong about Solas, his role, or where the story may be heading.

Oh, who cares. Let them cry. If they're jealous (of what, a decade of torment??? ), then they can romance Solas too.

Am I the only finding it curious how it is always Solas' followers and allies who suffer the most from the consequences of his descions. Surely he isn't deliberately eliminating any loose ends and establishing himself as the only viable alternative to the Evanuris. For all his supposed good intentions he leaves behind quite the body count.

For all his supposed good intentions he leaves behind quite the body count. That's sort of what happens when one is fighting for freedom. I should know, I come from a place that is pretty famous for having a ton of uprisings and revolts over centuries of partitions (between 3 empires), occupation and even non-existence - and quite a lot of them had quite a body count. Some of them, with benefit of hindsight, should probably have not happened (they were just a waste of people and resources). Fighting for freedom with a much more powerful opponent(s) is not easy. At all.

The main question I was asked recently by someone who plays the games but doesn't hang out on the Internet is "Why did they change the name?" After all, the first ever trailer back in 2018 was subtitled "the Dread Wolf rises". In the 2020 trailer it concluded with a list of enemies we would encounter: "Demons, dragons, darkspawn, even the Dread Wolf!" with Solas looking suitably menacing. Then in 2023 we had the big announcement that the name of the game was Dreadwolf (big surprise - sarcasm). A really cool name though. At the beginning of this year my friend was still getting reminders with that name that the game would shortly be released. Then at the 11th hour then changed it to "The Veilguard". It does seem odd that they did this and if it was intended to deflect criticism that the plot was too Solascentric then it sure didn't work. (I know they said they wanted the focus to be on the team but I think most people who play Dragon Age games would expect that by this time. It was obvious that it was such a late decision or why give the team a name that is so similar to one of the factions? Has anyone who has played the game mentioned how often it actually refers to the team as the Veilguard in dialogue as opposed to just the ability screens, etc?)
