Full version No, i fucking hate it!! Pure speculation, but: Bioware is known of placing narrative context in their visuals. This suggests to me the likelihood of end game choice: Inquisitor vs. Solas. On the right, Solas is badly hurt and looks to be dying/tortured. But the Inquisition crest is whole. On the left, Inquisition crest is being burned down, blight and Elgar'nan are nearby. Both Epler and Weekes mentioned how they approach writing story beats: they select a story they liked and "borrow" parts that work for their progect. Weekes mentioned Highlander being an inspiration for Solas character. look at that film plot (it's about the climax of an age-old war between immortal warriors, depicted through interwoven past and present-day storylines. Main hero is immortal being who falls in love with mortal woman (I watched it, it does have parallels between Solas and Lavellan). At the end of first film, the enemy captures protagonist mortal lover to lure him out. We do see Solas, in his Dread Wolf form, attacks Elgar'nan in blighted city in recent trailer.

I have considered it, and it would make perfect sense. A romanced Lavellan would be the perfect bludgeon to use against Solas. Not sure about non-romanced inky, but it might work.

Capturing romanced Inky will definitely add to the drama and would be aimed at hurting Solas personally. But I think Elgarnan will have a reason to capture any Inquisitor. No matter how you RP your hero, Thedas considers them religious figure, directly linked to andraste. Elgar'nan would want to get rid of any competition to reestablish his "divinity". Capturing and killing/ enslaving modern day figures who may hurt this claim is expected of him. Additionally, such act will create chaos - exactly what's needed to take over.

Elgarn'an And ghili is, effectively, remnants of the past. Some elves remember then, but only from the stories and distant past. Elves aren't the only race in modern Thedas. Both of those loonies will have to start almost from the scratch to amass new followers and bent others to their will. Getting rid of Maker, Stone, Andraste etc. is logical step. Like with Christianity and paganism -> it wasn't done subtly.

Look up twitter/reddit if you aren't averse to toxic takes. I like DA content, so my feed is filled with tweets on the subject. Just the other days I've seen takes like "solavellans are a bunch of white trade wifes", we are spoiling solas for others, we are too obnoxious to think romance with him will have extra content. we have the main character syndrome and wastly overestimate Lavellan's influence on Solas etc.etc. Dark Horse’s Thedas Map is out, with high res pictures of the map. I do not like how Dread Wolf is depicted. I worry for him being blighted/badly hurt/dying Pictures: calling you guys trad wives is a wild take. ***** Also that map is amazing really interesting design for the figure on the bottom left as well...can't find Solas though.

Inky is a reference to Andraste
Andraste is a reference to Mythal
Both Mythal and Andraste were betrayed and murdered for "power." Andraste by her husband, Maferath. Unsure of who betrayed Mythal, but lets assume it was one of the other Evanuris. Perhaps Elgar'nan.
Who betrays Inky in this situation?

Found something very thrilling. On tumblr, mythalism analyzed the end of Solas ritual by frame. Some interesting things were spotted. TLDR: pookie is sneaky bastard and is cooking something I think our man can free himself from the Fade and waits for the best moment. In fact post below made me think he intentionally trapped himself to escape Ghil and Elgarnan. In fact the more I think about it, why wouldn't those two killed Solas on the spot? Or exacted their revenge on him for all the ears being trapped. It's unlikely they did something to pull Solas into the Fade. But Solas, on the other hand, has good alibi. "Aw, jeez, I was pulled into the Fade and now I'm trapped. All I can do is share what I know. Those two is your responsibility now"
Guilt trip Rook into solving his mess. Use Veilguard team to get rid of/distract his enemies. Sounds like DAI, doesn't it? Here is the post I mentioned: " varric, with the dagger embedded in his chest, has some sort of energy pulsating out of him/the wound/the dagger as he lies on the ground: compare this with the same scene we see in the release date trailer of the same thing happening to ghilan'nain, its actually identical: there is also a familiar shade of green magic around the wound: ok now frame by frame breakdown of how solas gets sucked into the fade: ghilly and edgar's silhouettes go a little transparent for a second? as the camera zooms in, if you look very closely, solas lifts his right hand, and then gets pulled in then, rook gets thrown back into the wall, where they get the head injury that supplies the blood that solas later cites as the reason for the connection between them: it is not until later, once harding and neve have dragged rook and varric away from the ritual site and are about to step back into the eluvian, that we actually see any of rook's blood: once we finally get to chat with pookie while unconscious, he says a couple of things where the language stuck out to me: like, ok, pretty vague. "the magical energies pulled me here" is a crazy use of passive voice LMFAO but sure, pookie ok... sure but this is what really stands out to me: "i abhor the use of blood magic" and "had i the power to control you, i would already have used it". he does not say "no, not blood magic" or "i did not use blood magic" or any real negation. he instead does our favorite, classic fen'harel trickster lie by omission. he is banking on us drawing the conclusion that he didn't use blood magic because he said he abhors it. however!!! we know that he actually does things he abhors on a daily basis such as kill and betray his friends, break up with his girlfriend, and drink tea when necessary. its extra funny because rook literally reminds us of this in the same scene: anyway. i have no clue what hes up to but hes up to something. i love him, but i dont trust him, and i leave you with this: "

Also, for a careful planner he is, he does really well when he has to improvise, like in case of quickly figuring out that Inquisition has the best chance of dealing with chaos after the Temple of Sacred Ashes exploded.
With that said - I don't know if the 'energy flowing from Varric after he gets stabbed' will be a thing that'll be useful for Solas in way it's described in that theory, but I do think it's significant in one way or another.

"the magical energies pulled me here" is a crazy use of passive voice LMFAO but sure, pookie ok... sure but this is what really stands out to me: "i abhor the use of blood magic" and "had i the power to control you, i would already have used it". he does not say "no, not blood magic" or "i did not use blood magic" or any real negation. he instead does our favorite, classic fen'harel trickster lie by omission. he is banking on us drawing the conclusion that he didn't use blood magic because he said he abhors it. however!!! we know that he actually does things he abhors on a daily basis such as kill and betray his friends, break up with his girlfriend, and drink tea when necessary. its extra funny because rook literally reminds us of this in the same scene: anyway. i have no clue what hes up to but hes up to something. i love him, but i dont trust him, and i leave you with this: " I honestly hope they're right and Solas turns the tide in his favor in the final act. It wouldn't make sense to hype him up in Trespasser and then casually brush him off in the first 20 minutes of the game. By the way, I find it odd that the writers chose Ghilain'nain to be the other elven god who escapes besides Elgar'nan. Don't get me wrong, they made her look pretty cool. But if two Evanuris is all we're getting, aren't there better options? Maybe Dirthamen, god of knowledge and wisdom.
