That comment about Solas and the Harrowing just reminded me of something I am hoping someone can help elaborate. Is Sera a Mage or secretly learned the elven language despite her dislike of them? Cole says her ears always point to the Fade, she had a weird moment that with Solas asking her to describe what she saw and when Solas spoke in elven to her she knew what he was saying or seemed to at least. Solas and Cole both seemed to push her a lot to the Fade, Elves and Magic and we know both are anything but normal beings. There's a somewhat popular theory that Sera is Andruil in the same way that Flemeth is Mythal, and Sera either doesn't know or refuses to admit it. Some of the stuff you mention here, as well as other weird stuff like Sera's worst nightmare being "The Nothing" are mostly what it's based on. I personally don't buy it, partially because there are only so many times a character can turn out to be an elven god before it starts getting stupid, partially because Andruil was at least sexually interested in men (Whereas Sera's a lesbian.) and, if the stories are anywhere near true, she attempted to rape Solas at one point - I can't imagine he'd be cool with someone like that running around willy-nilly. Not to mention there's the issue of how Andruil would've got out to begin with, if Solas trapped her and the rest of the Evanuris somewhere. But I do think something's up with Sera. I can come up a few theories as to what, but none of them are very good.

The Sera being Andruil is one of most nonsensical theories I heard. Seriously there is so much evidence for this as Orsino being Falon'din. I think Solas was talking to her about elfy things because he couldn't stand her not identify herself as elf. Lavellan must somewhat accept their heritage as dalish, but Sera is actively against everything that make her an elf. Solas feels that he must fix it, hence their banter. As for her ears pointing to fade, her feelings when she looks through breach it's simply part of being elven. I bet our elven inquisitors feel the same but just accept it.
Speaking about how spirits and Fade was shown to us players I completely agree. The DAI completely changed my view on them and many other things.

I've nothing intresting to add other than comment how lovely that is . I hope Cole comes back around for DA4, him and Inky (possibly) are the only friends Solas has left. I wanted to write somethin about "Aah I want Cole back too and have him appear when we get to the Solas-redeeming-scene to help us and he actually helps a TON and he's a sweet rool and fmlzkhgqlzkjlgqkhz what would we do without you" And then I didn't because "gee people must be tired of speaking about characters from da4 lol" But heh you did so I guess it's ok now I really wanted to say it I luv cole ♥ That comment about Solas and the Harrowing just reminded me of something I am hoping someone can help elaborate. I want to know what's with this exactly ! Looks more deep than just "veil, you know, that's all" --------------------------- Thnxxxx all of youuuu ♥

I almost exclusively lurk here, so just giving a shout out of appreciation to the people who migrated over and still make those list posts of fan art! The Solas thread is pretty much the only way I get my Solas fix (especially with school starting back up again on Monday) and I love being able to check for art here every now and again.

I will if I ever find it. Twitter does have an advanced search and I've been trying that but I'm just not getting results. But BioWare said Twitter is so much better! They said!! Another thing that is wrong with twitter, is that I feel a bit like a crazy-fangirl stalker when I follow PW... I mean he posts about his family life too, and it seems like you are intruding or something Authors answering questions on their official forum would be so much better I just like the phrase "sod off with Solas." Yeah, I know it means running away, but it also sounds like the name of Solas' new show on late night public access TV, Sod off! with Solas. Solas sits at a table in a dark room, like Charlie Rose. Except instead of talking to guests he just b!tches about everything. *gasp* omg I want that show so much!

Speaking about how spirits and Fade was shown to us players I completely agree. The DAI completely changed my view on them and many other things. This brings up an excellent point. This was the first time that we LITERALLY saw the Fade for what it really is. We were physically there, not just exploring it in our dreams. It isn't that the Fade is different than it was in DAO or DA2. It is only that we didn't truly know its nature then. We also actually met elven "gods" in this game, rather than just hearing stories about them. We actually walked the halls of the old temples and met ancient elf sentinels. They pulled back the curtain and showed us the wizard; now we have to decide what we want do with the knowledge. I just really enjoy thinking about how politics, religion, and prejudices in Dragon Age are a reflection of the mental imprisonment of mankind generally speaking. I really wish we stepped in more nicer (neutral) part of the Fade or went on dream trip with Solas (well the Fade tongue scene did that, but not exactly). I would like Solas to have bigger reason to bring down the Veil than "hur dur you are non-persons, back in my times everything was better". Yes, and DAI being the third game in series really allowed people to make opinions before and challenge them now. For example my canon warden is an elf, really into her people history, believes in the Creators and so on. My Lavellan on the beginning of DAI was similar but at the end her word view was entirely shattered. I wish we could have more emotional responses to the revelation. Well the Alix delivery of the line in which Lavellan asks Flemythal why she isn't with the Dalish was so good, but later we can't even talk with our friends that we literally spoken with our goddess. Take that Sera! The DAI was one of greatest commentary on religion and beliefs in the gaming world. I just love how they handle the subject.

As I mentioned many pages back, I do have a transcript of much of the Solas and romanced Lavellan content that I put together as a reference for the fanfic that is living in my head and seems mostly happy to stay there (I've tried to write it and have not completely given up trying, but I have the worst case of writer's block EVER.) I've spent the past few nights cleaning it up and combing YouTube to fill out some of the options I'd previously missed - all for you, Lethallins and Lethallans. ;D I've saved it as a pdf with bookmarks so you can jump to the section you're most interested in. You can access it here: www.mediafire.com/download/ngy7mnfdj52wo6t/Solas_Conversation_and_Cutscene_transcripts_-_copy_for_sharing.pdfPlease let me know if you are having trouble accessing it. Thank you! Solas - Not sure if this is something worthy of adding to a general index of Solas resources for the thread. You decide!

I never got that extra dialogue about Sera, when you ask Solas about elves. Perhaps because usually I exhaust his dialogue before we even head to Hinterlands. It's so insightful! Thank you again.

Jisandra seven Zettabytes What bothers me about Solas is he seems filled with regret and even laughs forcefully as he talks bad about the Evanuris. He is not passionate about what he did and if they are the friends (or maybe its the Forgotten Ones?) who Cole is talking about, then Solas has feelings for them like you would a horrible family you still love. His whole attitude makes no sense. At least Flemeth boomed in anger about it. Codex excerpt from Origins: Our gods saw him as a brother, and they trusted him when he said that they must keep to the heavens while he arranged a truce. And the Forgotten Ones trusted him also when he said he would arrange for the defeat of our gods, if only the Forgotten Ones would return to the abyss for a time.
It's Dalish legend and should be taken with a bajillion pinches of salt, but if Solas trapped both factions, then it seems the friends he is missing have an equal shot of being the Evanuris or the Forgotten Ones. Would it be as disconcerting if Solas felt regretful about the Forgotten Ones? We don't have nearly as much stuff to hold against them as we do the Evanuris...yet. I don't see what's so wrong with Solas loving his "horrible family" if Cole is referring to the Evanuris. Also, perhaps red lyrium changed the Evanuris, and that's what prompted the need to seal them away (in addition to the fact they were contaminants). There is fair evidence to support Andruil having been tainted by the red lyrium. If it was the lyrium that caused the change, then I could easily see Solas regretting his trapping them. Yeah that's what I was thinking. People have argued that he has no love for the Evanuris but to me I saw a man who despises himself for what he did and felt disdain towards the ones that made him do it, but not hate. That makes me think the taint spread and corrupted them, making them horrible and beyond sense. I would never say they were good "Gods" with their gold, slaves and power cravings, but I think the taint made them even worse. And it their lust for power (As Solas said) they killed Mythal because they were being stopped from getting the lyrium. Almost like a withdrawl or something. This will make redeeming him even harder possibly. He will put his people before even Lavellen. I really do wonder what the writers will come up with that lets us save him from himself. Solas is also afraid of dying alone. I think that means he does not want to be the last of the "Gods" and die on a world that is not real to him.

Solas trolling Sera about spirits is still some of my favorite banter. I wonder if people would have still liked that theory if Sera was a rogue who used daggers instead. If their only 'proof' is that she's different and she's good with a bow, yeah, no. But who knows what these writers have up their sleeves.

I think I probably would imagine Andruil as being a bit like her. Like, I could imagine maybe Andruil's "hares" who helped Ghilan'nain were actually elves, her friends or followers, like Sera's jennies. But that doesn't mean they are the same person. Anyway, I tend to lean more towards the theory she's a mage who suppressed her power at any early age.

I am beginning to think Sandal has a bit of Mythal in him. He saw her one night and he can turn things to stone like Solas did with her power in Trespasser. Not to mention he was in the Crossroads through most of Inquisition.

Anyway, I tend to lean more towards the theory she's a mage who suppressed her power at any early age. Solas and codexes paint Andruil as power hungry moron. Say what you want about Sera's level of intelligence, but one of her redeeming qualities is that she is absolutely NOT power hungry. As lilyenachaos said if she was dagger oriented no one would even think about her as incarnation of elven goddess. As for "hares" it could be. But the position of anti establishment rebels is already occupied by Solas and his freed slaves. From his banter with Sera we can assume that his organization could have started as troublemakers before it had fully blown. And could you tell me how Andruil reincarnated herself as Sera? We know that Mythal is the only Evanuris that wasn't locked, because at the time of Veil creation she was already dead. Solas wouldn't let Andruil flee here prison, and we know that he hadn't any sentiment for her (the banter at mosaics). If we look from the meta point of view Sera being Andruil is even more improbable. She is one of the most optional companions. You can throw her out at every moment (I was tempted many times), you can entirely skip quest which leads to her recruitment and has next no no influence in the story (besides being the romance or friend). Some fortunate players didn't even meet her. And there can't be another "Solas" in our DAI companions (even if she doesn't know), because it would wound hid uniqueness. I don't understand why people can't just like (or not) her as what she simply is. She is very specific, sometimes rude and too close-minded, but she has good heart and is interesting without being another ancient elven god or mage. She is just pearson of her own. @ladyamell - As for Sandal being partly Mythal, I disagree. He states that he sees a "old woman" in his dreams (dwarf who dreams? Yay Sandal is unique). He can be unique on his own too And we was in the Vir Dirthara, which is even more strange. Maybe he is love child of Flemythal and some dwarf? EDIT: I'm sill convinced that Solas was absolutely no warm feelings for other Evanuris than Mythal. He feels remorse because he put the Elvhenan civilisation to end as well he sripped elved from their natural magic. Them being corrupted to the point of killing Myhal is cheap. It stripes them from any shade of gray. But who knows maybe Weekes could make it good. And Solas is definitely redeemable, he wants to be proven wrong! TEAM OPTIMISM people!

I have a feeling Sandal is strongly connected to what a dwarf used to be and Mythal knows this, since she was obviously worshiped in the Deep Roads and Sandal was found near elven artifacts. The Deep Roads even hosted elves in Uthenera. Heck it could be the opposite of what I said. She might have taken some of Sandal's power and then Solas ended up with it. Jisandra I suspect her because it happens again in DAI in Val Royeux except this time the woman is screaming in the man's dream and this is right after Solas takes her power.

Jisandra, I didn't mean she is like Sera in the sense of being power hungry. I mean, all of the Evanuris, except for maybe Mythal, are described that way. But that doesn't mean they necessarily all started out that way, back when they first fought the war and became heroes for the elves. It could have been a long process that they became corrupt over time, or who knows they could have gone mad from red lyrium or something. Not doubting Solas that there was something seriously wrong with them at the time he rebelled, but we don't know the full story yet. I meant more that I see her having some similar personality traits and attributes, that's all. At least, in the way the Dalish myths described her, which were more positive, even if not completely true. As for reincarnation. I do think such a thing could be possible in Thedas, and it seems to be supported in the way that spirits can return. But even if Sera had been Andruil or someone else in a past life, she would still be Sera now, and still mortal. But just because it's possible doesn't mean they are related at all. But I do see where fans see the similarities, is all I'm saying.

It makes me wonder if the turning to stone ability is titan magic, and that could possibly be why Mythal knew it. I have a feeling Sandal is strongly connected to what a dwarf used to be and Mythal knows this, since she was obviously worshiped in the Deep Roads and Sandal was found near elven artifacts. The Deep Roads even hosted elves in Uthenera. What if Sandal is forsaken Sha-brytol? Myhal wasn't worshiped in Deep Roads. Her statues (and Fen'Harel's) in that lyrium mine in Trespasser, for me is just statement that it was her establishment. I don't know what to make of those coffins. Cole clearly states that something sleeps there, but maybe we are wrong to assume those are elves? I honestly don't have any theory. SWEET MYHAL I KNOW! The ancient egyptian tombs were frequently robbed already in antiquity. The priests from the late New Kingdom (the era of egyptian history before they have fallen to Alexander the Great) were aware of that and they simply relocated most of their revered god-kings from the past to plain cave, stealing their riches (gotta be practical), but securing their never ending sleep. What if elves, post Veil did the same? They started to age and saw their revered elders' tombs/sleeping rooms desecrated by greedy humans and wanted to relocate them? Why no to the old, forgotten mining outpost (there weren't any darkspawn, and it was completely forsaken)? They could have limited access to crossroads, but Qunari easily recovered key to the mine eluvian so it couldn't be so difficult. I'm so sad now that we eventually killed them by flooding the place... @ladyamell - I didn't state is well. Of course Sandal sees Mythal is his dreams, but I don't think HE is Mythal. Sah291 - I still can't see any similarities. Andruil seems power hungry and likes to hunt even in Dalish myths (she punishes Dread Wolf for hunting the halla, because only she can do it, want to humiliate him by serving her in bed), Sera doesn't. The only traits they share are being elven woman and using bow. And I wouldn't cling to Andruil being a bow woman, remember that Fen'harel used bow in the "Slow arrow" story too, and now we can easily say that isn't his weapon of choice. And mostly Andruil is still in her Fade prison and we don't have any evidence that she is not.

Wasn't any other choice of course, but geez. And nothing was ever really mentioned about it.

Jisandra oh no I'm sorry. I must have typed that wrong lol whenever I say Mythal has a piece of herself in people I don't mean they become her, just that they gain her power she herself said she loves to nudge or shove history along so I think she keeps adding her power to those who would fall so the story can keep going. She's sneaky, conniving and a bit too good at justice, wisdom and manipulation. Yeah and maybe next time we see Valta she won't be the same either. I hope not. I liked her! Ah I must have read the codex wrong. Maybe the elf was assuming she was worshiped or I am thinking of something in Witch Hunt... hmmm... Yeah that does sound like a very big possibility! And I agree it was sad to see them drown in the water like that, unaware that it was over. Reminds me of the Prothean on Ilos. Goodness! What if they were planning to return like the Prothean!

I'm so sad now that we eventually killed them by flooding the place... I would be disappointed if we won't see Valta again. There were no variables to her fate, and everything ended in mild cliffhanger. But I don't think she would be changed, I think she would be ambassador to Titan. And I liked her too. I don't think that all titan era dwarves were like sha-brytol. Of course elven codex states that, but is could be simply a propaganda to dehumanize the enemies. I wouldn't take ancient elven sleepers as threat. In the mine were only a couple of dozens of them, and we easily killed many more sentinels. They have no magic, they aren't ageless, they don't have numbers. You may not be wrong about the meine being the place of worship, though. In my country there is salt mine where is underground church, all sculpted from salt (it looks AWESOME). The miners used to go there to pray for luck. I could easily see elves working underground, with very unstable substance that is lyrium to pray frequently to their queen-goddess, to save their lives.
