I'm not so sure, given that it's only Crossroads that looked different for elves. I don't remember Vir Dirthara looking different, only Crossroads. And this is not Crossroads, but somewhere in the Fade where Solas is trapped (also, I have to wonder if those rules still apply, given all the changes to the world and/or characters)

I also think that the place being black and white sets up the mood - that of a battleground after an epic fight, now filled with destruction, ash and silence. TBH I don't think I want it colored.

Are they foiled completely, or is it just a minor setback?

I honestly have no idea where they are taking his story.  He appears to be out of the fade when in his wolf form, so who knows how long he's actually trapped there.

This makes me wonder if one of the themes of the game will be Solas's lone wolf act versus the togetherness of the Veilguard.

So I've been doodling around in DAI to try and pass the time, and I'm still in Haven. Occasionally, I have a chat with the kind but quiet and enigmatic elven dreamer and I must say, I'm having trouble reconciling the two images. Like, how can they be the same? How can he turn into that? Lol it does not compute.

I’ve always loved werewolves so him turning into a massive badass literal Dread Wolf just hits all the right notes, heh.

There is a possibility that is the case based off some of the earlier concept art they released, like this:

I always thought his DAI tarot card showing the wolf just related to his alter ego in legend and in the Fade but it could be it is an actual wolf that he has split his soul with, the same as Corypheus did with his dragon and likely the other Evanuris have done as well. If that is the case then it is an ancient elven, rather than a blight creature thing.   This seems likely since he was surprised that an ancient human Magister had discovered the secret of "effective immortality" from death.   The only thing is the wolf in the picture has normal eyes and the one in the trailer had six, just like we've seen in other artwork of the Dread Wolf, including the latest one.
