I remember playing it for about 30 minutes on day 1. The hype was real, as the Mass Effect trilogy include my favorite games of all time. I was so shocked and disappointed with the animations, voice acting, and general presentation that tearfully I refunded it that day. A while later, I was using greenmangaming.com to buy random loot packs, and I got ME:A out of one for like $5. My initial disappointment has kept me from even re-downloading it, but at almost 10 months after release, I would like to know if it's worth it to play it now. Like I said before, I'm huge into the ME trilogy; I thought the entire idea was awesome and the story enthralling, with a great cast of characters to interact with, characters that I actually cared about. That being said, is this even worth the time and bandwidth investment to redownload, or should I skip this altogether and just go back to the original trilogy? Thanks.

I definitely recommend you play it. Especially since you said it was the animations that put you off since they did multiple patches that resolved those issues.

I mean, you might as well play it now and see what you think after the patches, they did help things that could be patched (not writing). I certainly don't like it as much as the trilogy but i dont regret playing it by any means.
You can always quit playing it again if its still not enjoyable.

Up to you. Personally, I would never play MEA again, even if I was bored out of my mind and MEA was the only game that I owned.

Play it. It's fun to play once. Just don't expect much in terms of replayability. It's certainly the weakest Mass Effect game in that department. Also, different strokes for different folks. You might like it, since the original bugs, glitches and animations are no longer an issue.

You might like it, since the original bugs, glitches and animations are no longer an issue. I actually think it’s the most replayable based solely on being able to put your own power combinations together. I thing ME2 is the least replayable since it shoehorns you into being paragon or renegade in order to get the “win” options and it has the least amount of power variety. The only thing that has any real variance is the suicide mission.

I think it's definitely worth a go! I would say that you should mod the game a bit though, get the frosty mod manager and then download these two mods: MEA Fixpack = Acts like an unofficial patch, fixing various issues. Multiplayer Powers in Singleplayer = Adds certain MP abilities (such as Warp) to the SP story, which further increases the customisation you can have. My recommendation for playing Mass Effect Andromeda, other than mods, is to take it easy. Don't collect every mission that is available straight away, grab a handful and do those and then do some more. One of the big issues for ME:A is getting swamped with missions to do, so that's one way of regulating a weak point of the game. Otherwise take your time, have fun, and don't let nostalgia over previous games ruin this one for you.

Well, it's not like anything's forcing you to take the win options. Just like the SM in that regard -- you can have a perfect mission if you like, but it's more interesting if you don't.

I know but the game incentivizes you to “take a side” and stick to it. That’s why 3’s system was better. You could make a decision based on situation and not on always up/always down.

I would like to know if it's worth it to play it now. beyond patch 1.05 it was solid. I did 4 playthroughs plus multiplayer (around 600 hours in total).

I still haven't decided either.
When MEA was released, I was thinking about upgrading my PC or maybe investing in a console. My PC could just barely handle the minimum requirements for the game. If I had made one of these choices prior to the release, I probably would have gotten the game on day 1 since MET are some of my favorite games of all time.
Instead, I saw the bugs, memes and reviews and my enthusiasm quickly cooled.
Although I understand these issues have been solved/patched, I'm still hesitant because of the story line reviews. My favorite part of the trilogy was the space opera - Shepard's interactions with the NPCs. If I want an action kick, I'll go for some ME3MP.

I say... play it at least once.
I'm just starting my second playthrough. I enjoyed the first one quite a bit. There are definitely things that could have been done better and some things I'd have changed, but it's a solid 6 or so out of 10 for me. (Whereas the trilogy games are all 8-10 out of 10's)
I quite enjoy the idea of going to andromeda and getting away from all the reaper stuff.

It's not the animations or bugs. It's a poorly written, boring mess. Not worth the bandwidth.

I prefer to replay this over 1 for a few reasons, but I think 3 will remain king for a while in terms of replayability to me. I think it has a lot to do with the DLC’s, of which I have the entire library, but I always thought it was the strongest of the lot.

ME3 offers a lot of replay value due to ems and having different characters alive or dead from the previous 2 games for the dialogue and scenes.

Since you own it, I would give it a shot. I did my 3rd full playthrough after patch 1.10 and the game is fine now. I still believe the the open world aspect hurts the narrative of the game and probably makes it hard for me to really judge the story against the prior games since you couldn't wander off and do other things. I don't replay Andromeda as much as the other games, but at the same time I think it takes me five to six times longer to finish Andromeda then the others.
Personally I normally go back and replay Mass Effect 3 the most because there isn't the annoyances I had with Andromeda which are common in a lot of games with open world aspects and can finish it quickly.

ME:A can be blitzed through relatively quickly, can't it? You have to play a much lower percentage of the content than you have to play in any of the trilogy games.
