I liked it a lot the 1:st time round, next time I will try to have a more professional Sara Ryder to see a different side of the game. Really like those little details. If you have the game I would give it a try perhaps you like it

it has its flaws like any other game duh! it a very good game. i really cannot understand the warm reception for Horizon zero dawn (mind you, i really liked it) while andromeda gets "mud on the fan" treatment. Sure horizon worked flawlessy on launch and andromeda dd not but then again Skyrim had/still has bugs. My point is that andromeda plays better and is more impactfull than horizon. quests, sotry mission, narrative is better in andromeda imo

Wow! Talk about speaking my truth. I’m currently playing through HZD and while it’s a good and well made game, I don’t see why it was up for GotY. I really did enjoy Andromeda more this HZD. I almost quit it until I decided to ease the difficult. That made the game far more tolerable to my pallet and eliminated my frustrations with the combat which is my biggest issue with the game.

Agree with this as well. It was enjoyable enough to get through the game once with it's DLC expansion, I doubt I'll revisit it, while I've fired up ME:A again recently. As for the OP question: yes, now is a great time. The cost of the game is ridiculously low and all the patches have been done since August of last year. It's as good as it's going to get.

I'll be honest, if you're a huge ME fan, this game will disappoint. The trilogy casts a large shadow over this game and it will likely impact your experience. That being said if you're able to go into this without any expectations then it can surprise you.

Yeah you almost have to think of MEA as a separate franchise with some ties to the Mass Effect universe. There is fun to be had in MEA but ultimately the overall experiences pales when compared to the MET if anything you have to resist comparing it to the MET when going in but that is hard to do.

Definitely get the MP Powers into SP mod, and the bug fixing mod. They're both by the same person and really improve the game.

It really isn't worth the time or money. But if you're bored then go ahead and play it but on PC with mods. Consider it a Mass effect OVA.

It really isn't worth the time or money. Sorry, but that's bollocks. You can get ME:A very cheaply second hand for consoles, and even very cheap for a key. You can get a game with a 30 hour storyline (that's a little uneven but is good if you don't overwhelm yourself with side quests) and great combat for slightly more than it costs an adult to go to the cinema to see a film. It's definitely worth the money. Time is another matter, but you could blast the main storyline in short order I expect. Just remember though, if you're going to play, Eos isn't the finest first open world, it's somewhat stale. The game gets better -after- it, though. So be patient and you'll likely enjoy it. Probably end up enjoying it more because so many have belittled it that you'll go in with no good expectations.

The point is that there are plenty of other games worth playing for free. If you need it to be ME related. Just replay the MET. Hell, read MET fan fiction. All a better use of free time.

I would say if they have it give it another shot most of the technical issues that were there when the game launched are gone. If they had issues with the story or gameplay mechanics and that then that's another matter

I think people would have been more forgiving of the game if it didn't have to try to live up to the Mass Effect name. I have said this before if all the ME references were removed from the game (meaning other MW races and references to the alliance etc...) and it had simply been a generic space exploration/colonization game called Andromeda it would not have gotten nearly as much flak as it got.

I think the main problem is people have tried to compare it with the trilogy too much which is wrong imo. It's not trying to be like the trilogy it never had that aim. It's trying to tell a completely different story with different characters that just happens to be in the ME universe at least that's how it looks to me. Thankfully in my case I prefer to judge each game I play on it's own merits which makes it easier for me to see past all that and continue to enjoy it.

I'll be honest, if you're a huge ME fan, this game will disappoint. The trilogy casts a large shadow over this game and it will likely impact your experience. That being said if you're able to go into this without any expectations then it can surprise you. I think this pretty much nails it! For me two things hit MEA hard; (1) the condition of the game on release, and (2) the high expectations of the ME community, comparing it to the trilogy. Both produced significant backlash that pushed allot of potential players away and definitely out of contention on any podium at award time. But I agree with a number of you, that it is a better game than most that made it there in the end. I believe, if I were a first time ME player picking up MEA today in its current condition, it would be a complete blast for any true RPG player. As for me, I really enjoyed the game (post-patch), as I just do not try to compare it to the trilogy and I have played through twice. I am certain I have another one or two plays before dust gathers on the disk. One of the things that I wonder is, if what we see in MEA's lack of depth is not a symptom of the greater gaming industry, where we see sacrifice in depth and detail, for our new 4K monsters? I am also playing Fallout 4 and as much as I love that game, the characters and story are not FO3 of NV. Are these signs of the future for role playing games? Graphics and multiplayer over story does not bode well for the future of true RPG. Just a thought.

Me, I prefer playing as a anti hero.

I remember playing it for about 30 minutes on day 1. The hype was real, as the Mass Effect trilogy include my favorite games of all time. I was so shocked and disappointed with the animations, voice acting, and general presentation that tearfully I refunded it that day. A while later, I was using greenmangaming.com to buy random loot packs, and I got ME:A out of one for like $5. My initial disappointment has kept me from even re-downloading it, but at almost 10 months after release, I would like to know if it's worth it to play it now. Like I said before, I'm huge into the ME trilogy; I thought the entire idea was awesome and the story enthralling, with a great cast of characters to interact with, characters that I actually cared about. That being said, is this even worth the time and bandwidth investment to redownload, or should I skip this altogether and just go back to the original trilogy? Thanks. Yep, just don't go in expecting MET and ignore most of the side crap. The combat is fun and accommodates any playstyle. Aside from the main story (which isn't very long so be careful not burn through it too fast,) focus on activating vaults to stabilize worlds and establish settlements, finding lost arks, and companion quests (Drack is awesome.) As far as crafting and upgrades mostly just focus on the Nomad (because otherwise it's damned near unusable.) It has a few remaining bugs, but nothing game killing. It's imperfect but I still consider it vastly superior to, well, any Bethesda game ever made (of course that ultimately depends what your after in a gaming experience).

If you enjoyed Dragon Age Inquistion you will love MEA as well Ummm, no. I loved DA:I. It has its issues and the main arc is pretty generic but the characters and many of the quests are superb. ME:A, on the other hand was just bland, formulaic pap. Not terrible, but nothing special
