BG3 has lots of noncombat spells, and they said they would be adding the ability to cast them as options in dialogue. This is something I would like DA4 to have as well. It would be perfect for Tevinter!

If DA moves to a more action-oriented playstyle, the more autonomous the rest of the party has to be. But at the same time, a large part of having a D&D-style party in the first place is so that you can strategize and tightly coordinate your efforts. Exactly, this is what confuses me about the action style combat DAI went for because it makes so much of the four party system redundant. If the PC was the only one you could manage it would probably make the gameplay feel a lot different. People please DA2 was action-oriented and for me not playable. If they go anyware it should be back to DAO.

I been playing through origins an one of the things i miss from inquisition is just the simple fact of still being able to explore the world an finish side quests after main campaign is done, so hopefully the ability to do that is a thing in DA4 Why? you can play the game again. Why would you like to finish side quests after the main story. This is a story game, so please explain your thoughts. I can't follow you.

I had been going through the series again, which is what made me come to these (new) forums in the first place. DA:O is still a marvelous game, and DA2, despite its flaws, is a delightful game to play. My wish for DA4 is that it is NOTHING AT ALL like DA:I. I can't believe it. I had to stop playing. I beat it twice when it came out. I remember not liking the game as much as the previous entries, I don't remember absolutely detesting the game. I liked DAO and DAI. It was the opposite with DA2. It wasn't playable. I had to stop playing and i was so happy that i haven't buy it.

Random thought of how I'd like the story to go: Not at all. Well, that's not quite right. I actually enjoyed a lot of the "open" exploration in DA3, and just kind of randomly hanging out in Kirkwall was actually fun in DA2, too. In DA3, a big part of the problem is that even when open-world missions did integrate into the story (Emprise is an especially good example, though all of them had this to some degree), they didn't integrate into the plot. Yes, the Red Templars are bad, but why am I helping Fairbanks fight them when I'm supposed to be investigating the Grey Wardens, or whatever? That's a problem. To solve this, it'd be interesting if the DA4 story, the various "side" missions were the plot. Just like how in DA2, the first act is going around doing random things until you can afford to do the expedition. There's a lot of plot threads scattered about, but you're not on a deadline or side-tracking yourself from a more pressing mission, you're experiencing the world as it's laid out and then, in response to Hawke's actions, the threads come together. An entire game in the style of DA2 Act I would be quite satisfying. Not for me.

I recently thought of something over in the other Dragon Age 4 thread and realized I wanted to add it to the wishlist. Part of my problem with the outside-the-city areas in Dragon Age 2 was that they felt so... confined. It was like a set of corridors where your ability to move was very limited. It felt like you pressed into a series of corridors where you only move very limited. I had somewhat of a similar problem with the Brecilian Forest in Dragon Age: Origins. It's not something I mind in city landscapes: in fact, it can help provide quite the effective atmosphere. Out in the wild, though? No, it's just feels suffocating to me. It's why I liked the open areas of Inquisition and yes, Andromeda. You can argue whether they were too big for the content they contained but I loved that I wasn't forced to move in a small area or confined to corridors. I liked being able to cut across somewhere if I liked and feeling more free to move how I pleased. I really hope that the next game looks at Denerim and Kirkwall for inspiration on how to make its cities but at Inquisition and Andromeda on how to make its nature areas. They don't need to be as big as Inquisition's - Andromeda's was a good size - but I'd rather they be a bit bigger and more movement-friendly than Origins' and especially DA II's. No please not.

Oh my gosh! The chance to make Dorian the next Black Divine! I'd rather have Dorian become the Archon. Have Dorian ultimately end up achieving the grand ambition that his parents set for him, but subvert those expectations by using the power and influence to reform Tevinter society, as he pushes for his countrymen to focus on the future and new ideas, rather than clinging to the past and outdated notions. Would be a rather fitting culmination of his character arc. Am i wrong? At the End of DAI DLC Dorian is Archon, take his fathers place.

Why would you like to finish side quests after the main story. This is a story game, so please explain your thoughts. I can't follow you. I could see it as the following. The Big Bad sometimes makes the game feel like Only Top Priority choices should be made. You can literally ignore at least half? of the locations and still finish the game, if you only focus on the things that would help you defeat Cory. It can sometimes be narratively dissonant that #1 priority of the PC is the Great Evil, but you have time to help someone find their Druffalo. This is one of a few reasons why I drag the Hinterlands out before saying I finally have enough Influence to approach the Chantry at Val Royeux. This is the only part of the game where all you know is there is a Rift in the sky and you just need to close it, and not that an ancient Magister is using every moment of his undead life to end you. So doing anything that gets you enough clout to earn the right to parlay is warranted. Later on, this narrative freedom leaves the story-- until post game. Where they have nicely allowed you to do all the little things they created after youve saved everyone already.

On the issue of side quests after the main game...why not? It provides the player the greatest degree of narrative freedom and choice freedom and, especially in this age of potential live service, you might be able to go back and kill off a few of those side quests and activities you may have missed while waiting for the next expansion to drop. And while there is certainly good arguments against that prevailing wisdom I honestly feel...I guess especially now...games that just end is really off putting. *looks pointedly at Greedfall*...though of course there is the rare example of where you really can't continue on with your story after the ending...
Anyways I think a potential solution hit me to a problem I brought up when talking about DAIs combat...the whole thing about not having FTMs and proper gear at certain points which can turn the game into a slog. Now reading TVN I am pretty sure FTMs will return in the next game, or at the least something similar, so I think this could be the greatest way of doing it is...well FTMs at times were hit and miss, lets make them not so much hit or miss:
1. Like with the fade rifts (or something similar for 4) give it a way that you are guranteed at least 1 FTM at the proper level. This can be subject to RNG and honestly I feel like they did this in Jaws of Hakkon but in other words well...there will be a good reason to do those 'rifts' again and suddenly they would be a lot more worth doing if you are guranteed something that powerful.
2. Or give us specific places on the map/ quests/ activities which grant you specific FTMs. Take out the randomness of it and as a bonus this will highlight something else I was wanting, more random and varied quest rewards rather then a weapon that may be junk or just random gold.
Back to combat too I was rewatching my video going through Heidrun:
And this is probably the second best combat sequence in the entire game, but perhpas more importantly it touches on a lot of what I have been talking about and touches on a lot of the combat conversations going on around the boards:
-First I should say that the responsiveness of the controls and characters and their overall manueverability is on display. Kara was flipping and rolling all over the battlefield able to get out of harm's way and set up ambushes or the like. -Each party member has their own distinct combat role: Kara is a sniper, Sera is just pure ungodly DPS, Dorian is a DPS mage with some support and Cass is mostly a tank but she does have some lethality. -I was able to pause the game (either with the wheel or the tac cam) to issue orders to my people as needed to have them take potions or use spells/ abilities. -And i was able to use my own abilities to great effect staying at range and picking people off.
While I didn't time it to the second all of this combined led me to defeating the Darkspawn Emissary in one use of Dorian's Haste. Now keep in mind this is on Normal but some people mentioned the bullet spongyness of enemies even on the lower dififculties...so I would think about a minute.
Now this is also an excellent highlight of some of Inquisition's problems: -Namely it is too flashy to where it is hard to sometimes note everything that is going on the screen. -I really did miss some of my abilities from Odyssey when watching this, knocking those Darkspawn off those cliffs could've been fun.

Er, if you are so anti-sex/nudity in games, then what are you doing romancing Iron Bull (or watching someone else's game of romancing him)?
Also, not an issue if your Inq. is male since bare male chest no one apparently has issues with.
I was just using that romance as an example since I've seen that image posted in the forums before and it's been used to discuss this before. I have issue with bare male chests as well. I'm sorry if I step too close to you. How do you live? In summer I see bare male chests every day. Or is it a question of where you live? I can't understand it. I know people who are prudish, but a bare chest isn't a problem for them. Yes, Jaals sex scene could be shown in a better way, but coras sex scene is good.
Maybe a romance in a bollywood way would be perfekt for you (the old bollywood).

It would be cool if we have had romances like in thai lakorn or chinese movies. So a bit different to Hollywood. Solas was different, but the rest is only words and doing things. I know facial expressions isn't easy, but with new technology maybe it could work.

Very primitive request here: add spears.
And with that I do not mean Britney, I mean pole arms. Pointy sticks. Ease of use, speed, lethality against various armors, ease of construction, range, excellent effect if used in formations made this weapon basically the king of the medieval battlefield. It makes no sense whatsoever to make a fantasy game without including this weapon.

Let us talk about the dialog wheel. My wish: get rid of the symbols and show us exactly the same sentence our character will say. For better undestanding show us what our character think. An exemple: Origin city elve, we are told that today is our big day (or something like that) one answer is something like i don't know which day is today. There could also standing: I don't want to marry (as thoughts). That would make it easier to choose. If this are to many words get rid of the wheel.

I agree with most of what you said, except this. I like to know ahead of time who they are and what they like. I gotta brace myself for disappointment when Calpernia my fave turns out to be heterosexual. Yeah I'm the same. I want to know who is romancable and what kind of romances they have, for example if they are non-sexual or at least have a non-sexual option that is respected. So count me in. I love the keep and i used all 10 slots they given us. i like to plan ahead with which world status i want to play first. And that is a question of romance.
I don't want to know anythink about the story, but i want to speculate about places, time and headquarter. But the most important is combat, because with the wrong combat i can't play the game. example DA2 and the witcher.

Ideally, I'd like to have both but if we cannot have both then I'd like to have tone. In DAO, I encountered problems due to the lack of icons: - My character would sometimes say things that I thought they meant one way, but that the NPC's reaction informed me was meant another. - I triggered a romance with Leliana because the flirt lines were not indicated and had to reload. - I had to reload multiple times because the game did not indicate which dialogue options were questions and which would continue the conversation.

I believe it is also in the booklet, if I remember right, what each icon means (including the Perks and racial/class options)

What i mean was: What say a friendly reply? it says nothing about what it is about. I can say a lot in a friendly way and yet that's not what I want to say. Sorry my english isn't perfekt. So i hope you understand now. I want to know the outcome, before i choice. So i need more than friendly, humorous or harsh. Does that answere say i don't like something or does it say i have had a bad time. It is hard to explain.

I am curious. The symbols tell me the emotional intent of the line, which I think is more important than the specific words. As for understanding what they mean, I think most of them are extremely obvious. Hearts are romantic/flirty, fists are aggressive/angry, clasped hands are diplomatic/friendly. These are basic symbols that are common in the real world. Knowing the intended tone of a line is more important to me than knowing all the words of the line. It doesn't matter if the game shows me an entire romantic speech if it neglects to tell me that the tone of the whole thing was "sarcastic" and not genuine.

I want unique monster encounters
I want the harvester to return and the lyrium introduced in that dlc. I just realized that barricade helped the same dace in that dlc
Dragons seem to be resistant to red lyrium-I’m hoping our hero gets injected with something that makes them resistant

I think I'd prefer to have the wheel, with symbols and paraphrases, with a mouse over/keybind option for me to hit to see the entirety of the text of that line, if I wish. Give me everything, Bioware.
