Now that we have the Keep . . . Your starting location depends on choices from the previous games.
Examples: DAO - recruited Sten, DA2 - earned the respect of the Arishok, DAI - sided with the Qunari ----> game starts you near Seheron DAO - side w/ Bhelen, DA2 - rival w/ Varric, DAI - finished Descent, discovering the secret of Lyrium ----> you start out in or near Kal Sharok (maybe as a dwarf , if they hopefully still have playable races DAO - side w/ templars DA2 - side w/ templars, DAI - Vivienne is new Divine----> you start out near the Black Divine's chantry maybe 4 or 5 alternate starts altogether. The main thing, they are contingent on your worldstate.
For most pt's, the starting location will be the same. All starts will have to come to beginning for main campaign, but that can be built into the reason you are where you are. Whatever flavor the choices from previous games give will influence the reason you're in these alternate locations. They should be quest related, if not immediately then at some point in the game so they don't have to build new locations. However, when you return for mission X, you will be acknowledged in some small (probable) or large (hopeful) way.

While I like the idea of starting locations, I wouldn't want them to be determined by our choices in the Keep. I like my heros to be different from each other in personality as well as choices; it would be disappointing to have to make my warden, Hawke, and inquisitor all have the same attitude towards certain issues just so that my character in the next game starts out where I want them to. I could see our starting location being determined by our race or class however. Dwarves starting in or near Kal Sharok, Qunari in Seheron, humans in Tevinter, and elves either in Tevinter or as part of the Qun.

copperI see your point. It's really an Origins type approach - where you start depends on selected race and class or status. Don't get me wrong, I love Origins and I wouldn't complain if DA4 repeated that start. I was looking at it like this: What's one big complaint people have? Our choices in previous games don't matter except to give some flavor (people have different opinions on how much flavor, but that's another argument). The Warden-Hawke-Inquisitor choices don't all have to be same (the templar-siding Warden and Champion are unlikely to put a mage on the throne, imo). Those are, obviously, just some examples to illustrate my point. If some of those choices really mattered at the start of the game . . . One decision per game shouldn't be enough to make your Warden-Hawke-Inquisitor too similar, btw. That's one thing I like about the Keep, I can have a world-state w/ decisions I would never make in actual gameplay. I mean, I felt so guilty and awful when I turned Dog away the first time that I couldn't bear not to accept him as a companion in Return to Ostagar. Never again *shudder*

Only if all the rocks start floating in the air and the Veil starts tearing open above Such a huge waste of magic. All he'd have had to do was drop us all to the ground while he flew off on a dragon and we'd have died. Then he's such a freaking weakling in battle, probably because he was too busy making an island of rock defy gravity in the back ground.

Man, this is why I kept telling Dumat not to waste powerful Blight magics on a preacher. The moment they learn a new magic trick, they’re guaranteed not to use it for anything cool. They’re too busy thinking about all the ways they can use it to make a hokey point in their next sermon.

Ah man, would have been so cool. Inky goes "what the Eff, this ain't safe" And they all hop on the dragon and fly off to throw fireballs at Cory. Cory realizes he can't smash us all, and jumps on his dragon as well. We do mounted Dragon battle for a bit while the floating isle crashes to the ground, probably killing tens of our ground troops, part of Sutherland's crew among them. Lace Harding is injured severely and it takes hours to dig her out later. But we don't know that, as our dragon sinks it's teeth into the other dragon and we begin to plummet. The dragons separate, we all decide mounted dragon battle isn't that great, and we come to a landing before the Dragon flies off once more.
We scrable through the mountain of debris to find cory and he flings giant boulders at us that we have to dodge. But incidentally, it also creates cover for us to hide from his magic attack beams....
yeah, I'll stop there. that ending fight could have been better.

I spent a little time in Assassin's Creed: Origins " Discovery Tour" last night, and I thought - This could be a great idea for Dragon Age. Perhaps something set in the Fade? Taking a cue from Solas, allow the PC to camp in various locations in the game, and a helpful spirit(s) could regale you with lore/secrets/etc. of the area while you slept... Wisps might show you secret locations in the area, spirits might reconstruct lost/damaged books and other lore in the game. You might also be able to ask them about the various creatures you've encountered, learn more of their strengths/weaknesses and view them up close in the "safety" of the Fade.

These songs from DA:II, referenced in some way.
Especially since I'm 99% sure they are Elvish and Tevene respectively.

Some kind of acknowledgement that elves can see better at night than humans similar to how it is with cats, since that's now canon.] Really? When was this confirmed?

Really? When was this confirmed? Stolen Throne, Loghain organized a group of elven guerilla fighters who fought specifically at night ot have the upper hand against the Orlesian humans. Some folks like to say Loghain isn't racist because he worked closely with and recieved admiration from this group for acknowledging them as people who could fight the occupation. I think that gives him too much credit, I think Loghain would have used Darkspawn if he could and so his use of them proves nothing.

Maybe in DA4 we can finally have unlimited inventory Dragon Quest 8 had it on the PS2, LOL! Kotor also had this. Admittedly, my inventory was usually a huge mess towards the end of that game, but at least I didn't have to keep worrying about picking up items because my inventory was getting full. Or start on a quest only to realize I had a full inventory, have to reload, and sell a bunch of items before venturing on the quest. Or go back to a chest to store items so I'll have room for more. Or waste points on expanding inventory, or money on backpacks, or any other solution games have implemented to get around the problem. Does anyone actually enjoy all of that inventory management nonsense? It is already unrealistic how much you can carry, so they might as well go with unlimited inventory and save us all many tedious hours.

This is silly, but I'd like to see old companions that weren't romanced have relationships of their own. For some of these characters, it's implied they haven't had a relationship in 10 or so years. Ferelden needs repopulated after the blight.

He does what he does to isolate the Inquisitor as much as possible since he has nothing left but the dragon more or less. Imo.

Some kind of acknowledgement that elves can see better at night than humans similar to how it is with cats, since that's now canon. Yes! Elven tapetum lucidum at work in game. I am all for this. Dwarves also have developed superior night vision from living underground, according to World of Thedas. (Although they aren't explicitly stated to have tapetum lucidum, like the Elves) Playing as a Dwarf/Elf and being able to see more in darkened areas would be a nice little feature and lore-nod. Bioware took the time to make the Crossroads appear more vibrant and colourful for an Elven Inquisitor, referencing that particular detail from Masked Empire. What if they made something like this a minor gameplay mechanic? When entering caves, underground ruins or sections of the Deep Roads (for the first time), it's helpful to bring a Elf/Dwarf companion with you, because they're the only ones able to see well enough to locate and light the torches/sconces on the walls. For them, the area would appear only dimly lit, but for Humans and Qunari, it'd be pitch-black. (To avoid annoying players, any torches would remain lit afterwards, so you'd not have to bring them every time you return to the area)

I spent a little time in Assassin's Creed: Origins " Discovery Tour" last night, and I thought - This could be a great idea for Dragon Age. Perhaps something set in the Fade? Taking a cue from Solas, allow the PC to camp in various locations in the game, and a helpful spirit(s) could regale you with lore/secrets/etc. of the area while you slept...Wisps might show you secret locations in the area, spirits might reconstruct lost/damaged books and other lore in the game. You might also be able to ask them about the various creatures you've encountered, learn more of the strengths/weaknesses and view them up close in the "safety" of the Fade. I did not know how much I wanted something like this in Dragon Age until now. And what if the helpful "spirit" we meet in the Fade actually turned out to be Solas in disguise, spying on the player character? He does have a reputation for trickery and a history of coming to people in humble guises and offering them knowledge and advice.

While maybe not for everyone, I thought this was a interesting feature they're going to incorporate into Assassin's Creed: Origins later this month. Something to look at for future BW games? Animus Control PanelFor the first time in an Assassin’s Creed game, players will be able to tweak some game parameters to create their own game experience, thanks to the Animus Control Panel for PC. The Animus Control Panel will be deployed on PC later this month. Ever fancied having three animal companions? The Animus Control Panel is your go-to. - 75 parameters within 11 categories - Three pre-created presets available - Presets created by players can be shared on a dedicated forum - The Animus Control Panel is embedded in Uplay Library’s page ubistatic19-a.akamaihd.net/resource/en-us/game/news/assassins-creed/ac-origins/april-update-img_321479.jpgWe will share more information about the Animus Control Panel and its dedicated forum closer to its release.
