Being honest, I haven't see a single good or decent Shadow player like ever. Nearly everyone I run into plays her by spamming Electric Slash or uses her as a sniper infiltrator (but still somehow does poorly). But yeah, when I play her, I try to "role play" her if that makes any sense. I become the Shadow, I AM the Shadow. Wow, that sounded better in my head. There are quite a few characters that have a steep learning curve, which results in a lot of people playing them poorly (ACA, N7 Slayer, TME, N7 Fury and the like), and to me, Shadow is one of them. She definitely isn't that "press x to win" type of character, there are several tricks to her that are crucial for her survival, and there are quite a few things one has to get used to when learning to play her (you might be slaying Silver, but when you first come to Gold, you'll probably be dead most of the time, because the DR is increased, the shield recharge speed is slower, enemies hit harder etc). But yeah, I agree that sticking to spamming Electric Slash is just plain boring, although it might be effective in some cases since it goes through walls and can do some decent damage. Well it also doesn't help that she isn't really as powerful as other characters in her own class let alone in the game. Even if you play her as a sniper, she is not as good as the Geth Infiltrator, Asari Huntress, etc. I did a solo gold Collectors run with her and it took me nearly an hour because you have to be careful with her and she's just not that powerful (it would have been so much easier if I was the Huntress). And as a melee character she is really squishy, and I think even the QFI does more melee damage than her (but I could be wrong). And she is actually one of my favorite Platinum characters because she has pretty great utility overall. But I still get screwed over by Primes and Pyros from time to time even if I'd say my Shadow is pretty good. But every once in a while I get frustrated with SS because I sometimes get knocked out of it because a Phantom decides to swing her sword at me even though I have been cloaked for a while and she has no idea I am there. Or a grenade not intended for me blows up as soon as I teleport to a target. Well, its decent at thinning out groups and its okay if you use it once or twice. But when your ENTIRE gameplan revolves around it, and you annoy other players with it, you are more of a detriment than a help. I have it only specced to level 3 because I feel her other powers are more useful. But I keep it on her because it just doesn't feel like the Shadow without it, and I love doing tech bursts after a SS.

QMI with a Crusader, whoo boy that is a nasty combo. obbie1984 with armor spec in her melee tree, N7 Shadow does the most heavy melee damage to armor in the game.

Even if you play her as a sniper, she is not as good as the Geth Infiltrator, Asari Huntress, etc. I don't really understand why anyone would play her as a sniper, because although she has that boost to sniper rifles as her TC evolution, to me, there are much better snipers out there (if you're bad at sniping - SI or QFI, if good - GI; IIRC, with AHI, the Cloak bonus applies only to powers and not to weapon damage - might be wrong here though). a Phantom decides to swing her sword at me even though I have been cloaked for a while and she has no idea I am there I think Phantoms don't really care about TC, especially if you're soloing (in this case, all enemies don't really care about your TC, because they are cheaters) - they can see through it, if I'm not mistaken. I love doing tech bursts after a SS I like doing a cancelled ES after a SS - it doesn't drop your cloak, but it still detonates the combo. I still fail to time it right sometimes though. A well played Shadow with mele focused build can rock every dufficult. Her gameplay strategy should be as every drell, hit and run.She deals a ton of damage with SS and the right build and equipment. What was this nonsense about QFI.Guys,pls... I'm a noob, so if you wouldn't mind me asking, could you please share your Shadow build? I have a 64655 build right now, but I'm still wondering if there's a better way to build her.

Thanks a lot! I'll definitely try it out as soon as I get my Wraith to a decent level - right now it still is at I, so it's quite on the heavy side. And I definitely see why you wouldn't use her in team games - the chances are someone will mess your pace up, and while for a player like you it wouldn't be much of an issue, for a scrub like me it is straight up death sentence.

No matter of the skill level,if some random pug down the shield of your target it could result in a death. ...and that's exactly what happens almost all the time. Since a lot of players have their overloads/shield drains as go-to powers (aka I see a target - I press that button), and those who don't have these powers use Acolytes or Reegars or even Adas Washing Machines, anything harder than silver becomes very tricky.

I think Phantoms don't really care about TC, especially if you're soloing (in this case, all enemies don't really care about your TC, because they are cheaters) - they can see through it, if I'm not mistaken. I've solo'd Cerberus three times with her on gold. With the Piranha, Talon, and Acolyte/Hurricane. Despite not liking two weapons on the Shadow, the Hurricane/Acolyte was the easiest for dealing with Phantoms. I noticed an Acolyte shot then cloak and then SS would kill them very effectively. When I used Piranha or Talon (my preferred weapon on her) it was much harder because Phantoms were knocking me out of SS even when there is no way they could have seen me (I was cloaked for a good 5 seconds and was nowhere near my last known position and the Phantom wasn't anywhere near me). I actually think Dragoons are worse because even if you are cloaked, they seem to be able to follow you and they wildly fire and attack where ever they think you are. But both of these rarely, if ever happen if I am with at least one other person.

But both of these rarely, if ever happen if I am with at least one other person. Oh, I also like the Talon on her the most, because it's technically a shotgun that is very lightweight and lets me slap both Power Mag and Melee Stunner on it, which boost both SS and ES. Too bad I have it only at V. The Piranha didn't really cut it for me, because you have to choose between ArPen and Smart Choke, and the latter is a must on this gun for me. The Wraith should be great, because it's a beautifully balanced gun AND it's a non-DLC weapon, which allows you to put both Omni-Blade and HVB without adding any weight. But again, the TrollStore blessed me with this weapon only once, and at lvl I it's still somewhat heavy. However, the Acocane combo is also very good, especially on higher difficulties, when you can charge your Acolyte, cloak, release the shot (which doesn't drop your cloak) and then use SS or ES. Phantoms are cheaters. They can see through your cloak, and if you're soloing, they'll simply go ahead and check your position. Dragoons are technically melee characters, which pretty much means they do not give a single damn about TC, too, so they'll go and find you. Both of these things are not so great, to put it mildly.

Other than that you can go with a Crusader if you have it, but seriously the Venom is glorious. It [Crusader] has innate piercing and the armor damage reduction is only 50 hp so you can use Disruptor or your favorite ammo. Since she's an infiltrator she doesn't care about weight, but if you go duration cloak I can see why that would be necessary. Also, you lose out on damage for both melee and SS by using the Talon instead of a shotgun w/ Omniblade fwiw. Here's the build I'm going back to minus the Talon: Shadow

I don't find the Talon/Shadow that effective on Platinum though. I take the Piranha there. When you get the Talon at level 10 you will appreciate it a lot more. Its pretty great on gold even without pistol damage increasing mods (though I take heavy barrel and power amplifier mods for it). As for the Piranha, I think armor penetration is not needed. Just use armor piercing rounds. I use her with the smart choke and omni blade and its served me well with AP rounds. And yeah, I am actually just going to goof around with the Shadow next time and just use the Acolyte with fire rounds as I can think of some fun stuff to do with her. And yeah, I noticed this. Cerberus in general can be annoying because of this. I thought the devices with the Shadow (I have her on 11 second cloak) would be easy. But nope, somehow Dragoons follow me exactly where I am yelling "SQUAD GET MOVING" and attacks me exactly where the objective.

There's a set number of Dragoons that spawn; 3 on wave 3 and 6 on wave 6 and I believe they get replaced with just Troopers. I usually set out to kill them first just to get them out of the way unless I can cap a device or other objective before the Dragoon rush gets to me. EDIT: Dragoon caps are for gold, plat has no cap on goons.

At the risk of losing my proud scrub status, I have to second the build suggestion by muahmuah. I don't solo much, and I rarely play Plat, but if I did a lot of either his recommenation is precisely what I would go for. Melee Shadow is probably a top 5 character for me. (I haven't tried DistigousForest's Venom/Talon suggestion, but I'd say it must be a riot - Venom takes care of the Phantoms that the 6b choice on Fitness leaves alive, very successfully I imagine. ) Now, just to confirm that I am indeed still a proud scrub, I'll admit that as things stand my build for her is already identical with one single difference: Duration Cloak. I play mostly off-host with pugs on Gold, and personally prefer a Piranha with AP rounds for that setting. As obbie1984 has noted, the Piranha works fine with Smart Choke and Omniblade, and not having points in ES means you're not missing out on your own Tech Bursts when using AP rounds. My rationale for Duration Cloak on the Shadow has been stated many times over the years, but I'll say it again: variety. It makes no sense on any other Infiltrator, with the tiniest sliver of a possible exception for the Huntress, who doesn't gain a weapon damage boost anyway, so if you're learning new difficulty levels it's just possible that Duration Cloak will keep you alive longer. But in the case of the Shadow it's not about that - it's purely mathematical. She can OHK all humanoid enemies on Gold anyway, so MOAR DAMAGE is irrelevant in 90% of cases, and emptying a mag (or 2 at most) of the Piranha will take care of the others. When you add the fact that you can cap any Device and revive any teammate without difficulty, to me it's an absolute no-brainer. But then I'm just a scrub.

My main is the Venom because Venom is love, Venom is life If weight matters take a Wraith. With the damage build I SS kills every mook/captain out right, it's more for the bosses like Scions and Brutes since duration cloak SS still takes out Phantoms. I just don't like how with duration cloak I can't Cloak>SS>Heavy melee a Brute, which I think you can with damage cloak. I'll have to spend a respec to see how I like it and see if what I said about Cloak>SS>HM is true. EDIT: I just looked at the SS Calculator and even damage cloak SS won't OHK a Possessed Captian without DoT.

Brutes and Psions are included along with Atlases, Banshees and Primes for me (Edit: I just run away from Praetorians), in a special little category called "Score 200k points with the Piranha." It also includes Ravagers and Swarmers, obviously, because they absolutely never, ever, cause me any problems when I SS them. Over the years Phantoms have given me more bother than all the other enemies combined (even though I rarely host!), and as such I feel no shame in allowing myself the luxury of having one character which will instantly kill 'em all in every conceivable set of circumstances.

Kill them first if you're doing a solo. I actually noticed this recently. But I think in this particular run I was playing on Dagger. I know I had killed two Dragoons, and I'm assuming since its a relatively big map, the other didn't appear right away. But he did after I was nearly done with a device. He forced me off the objective, I cut his face off and then finished after that. But thanks, this is good to know.

I am aware of this, and I worded it poorly. I was trying to say in the objective waves for gold goons are capped at 3 and 6 (they are still capped in regular waves as well). There are no caps on goons in plat and there are no goons on objective waves, thank the lord. I can understand why people hate so much the goons on objective wave, but they are my favorite enemy in the game. They are agressive, expensive and fast. That means fast waves. If you learn all their tricks they are pretty easy. They are dangerous only if you don't watch your back. It's my opinion, tho, don't get mad at me guys and gals. Dragoons are also one of my favorite enemy in MP too for much of the same reasons. I also think they look cool and I love how aggressive because they get you out of coveer. Also they are hyper aggressive, but don't feel obnoxious like Phantoms (I don't think Phantoms are hard at all but, sometimes they just do some annoying crap that makes you hate them. Especially that damage reduction because I always host). I particularly love it when I am a Cerberus Defector character and I'm fighting Dragoons. Its one of my most favorite things in ME3 MP. I also love coloring my Cerberus Defector Adept the same color as the Dragoons in game and also using a hornet. I have actually freaked out some randoms because they thought I was an enemy Dragoon.

Venom is love, Venom is life. Here's the build I'm going back to minus the Talon: ShadowThanks for the build link! In fact, I haven't yet tried the Venom at all on anyone - it's just that a lot of people seem to be complaining about the fact that it makes the camera shake, so the snipers and other people going for headshots will hate me. And IIRC, her SS is glitched and benefits from both Power AND Melee mods (so by slapping Power Mag and Melee Stunner I would still get something), but please correct me if I got it all wrong. I haven't yet taken this girl to Platinum - she's way too squishy for a scrub like me, so I'd just spend all my time eating concrete and admiring that sexy ass of my Juggy friend, which is nice, but not really the way I'd like to play this game. And I completely forgot about those AP Rounds - probably because I tried this gun on Silver first, which most likely means I didn't use any consumables. Now that I think about it, this setup should be very, very good. But I did take her to Gold, and found that an Acolyte shot is very helpful when dealing with shielded mooks, because it allows you to one-shot them with your SS. What I like to do now is to find a group of mooks, pick a shielded one and an unshielded straggler, release my Acolyte shot and take out the former, then manually cancel the cloak and take out the latter - and then take cover for some 2 seconds until I can cloak again, rinse and repeat the whole process. It doesn't work on bosses though, so I take a Hurricane to deal with them. At the risk of losing my proud scrub status, I have to second the build suggestion by muahmuah. I don't solo much, and I rarely play Plat, but if I did a lot of either his recommenation is precisely what I would go for. Melee Shadow is probably a top 5 character for me. (I haven't tried DistigousForest's Venom/Talon suggestion, but I'd say it must be a riot - Venom takes care of the Phantoms that the 6b choice on Fitness leaves alive, very successfully I imagine. ) Oh, I am a noob, but not as bad as not to know who muahmuah is - I've watched a ton of his videos, and I really admire how great he is (although it's close to impossible for me to achieve that level of greatness because I'm bad with guns) I also find the Shadow very enjoyable - she's the character that lets you enjoy the game and not struggle - you can play a sync-killer, a space ninja, a medic - whatever you please, and she's equally good for all these purposes. She's probably one of those characters I really want to get good at playing. I have her TC specced for duration right now, and I can tell it's a must for me to stay alive. Also I love to revive people, so there's also that. And as you also say that the Piranha is great on this girl, I'll definitely try it out the next time I take this character to Gold.

And IIRC, her SS is glitched and benefits from both Power AND Melee mods (so by slapping Power Mag and Melee Stunner I would still get something), but please correct me if I got it all wrong. Yeah those mods boost both SS and melee, but I was saying you get more damage w/ a shotgun w/ Omni-blade instead of a pistol with the two mods. Don't worry about screen shake. Play your game and not others, although I'd still try to avoid Tech in an all Biotic lobby. But I did take her to Gold, and found that an Acolyte shot is very helpful when dealing with shielded mooks, because it allows you to one-shot them with your SS If you're specced for full melee and Power Amp, even with duration cloak, you should still OHK almost all shielded mooks with SS. If it doesn't die after a heavy melee fixes that. Her heavy melee also hits multiple targets so it can be a nice "oh shit" button.
