I do use the attack cancel when playing Zither, because I "think" it helps with the mana regen passive (the one where you gain mana by doing basic attacks). It seems to fill up the mana faster, but I admit I haven't done enough testing. I agree with this. Zither's attack cancel can be the fastest among the mages. Attack cancelling works with warriors too, but I don't think it affects rogues, even though it's habit for me now It really is up to the player how they want to use it, I just think I'm able to attack faster as Terell has pointed out. I usually cancel after the 3rd staff attack.

Well, that was a fun couple of Perilous runs. The last, against Venatori, I used the Sentinel Templar build and Belinda did marvelously. LiiTs worked wonderfully against warriors, but I believe I'm trading in Combat Roll for Spell Purge. Barrier types are a pain in the ass.

So since this is the Damp Pug thread, I probably should post something related to "pugs" (not related to my signature ). Last night I went into a pug occupied by just the host of the room. I have played with this silent, yet well played individual before. They were playing as a Lego, and I a low level Seabass on Peri FC. Not many pugs in either peri or NM at the time, so I was happy to finally find one. Anywho, after the first zone, we were joined by an Ele player that I didn't recognize (also doing a fine job), and my friend Laf. So we now had a full house playing. All was going well. Since I was low level, I didn't have all the skills that I have normally been playing with - as of late - but I had enough to balance support + damage xp. This set up I have been using a lot lately, has been a great XP generator for me and the teams I often play with, and it is generally quite fun. When fully loaded, it is Athlok Burst, Rings, Shield, and Leap. I can run into the thick of things, throw down a speed ring and barrier, then do a round of AB. I can easily switch things up, depending on the group I am playing with, and rack up a good amount of XP for the team. Since it is a mix of support and damage, I give up a bit of "Bang!" by using the Heart of Pride. Keeps everything sped up, even if I have to go out of the ring rotation for various reasons. Since I was lower level though, I didn't have my full set up. BB and basic attack were my main damagers since no AB. But no big deal, it's only Peri. (I have a point as to why I bring this all up, I promise ) By the middle of the fourth zone, I guess the Ele disappeared from the group. Not sure if he got disconnected or he left due to RL stuff. I didn't even see him leave. So the fifth zone comes up, and the dragon had previously been called. Now due to my level of promotes, the fast casting time, and barrier, I can take a direct hit from the dragon and it does nothing to me. I am standing in the middle of the field throwing down rings right before the dragon lands. At that point, a voice comes over the mic and says that someone was being silly. You see, we had a late joiner show up, after the Ele disappeared. Had not really notice at first. My friend Laf had thought the person was referring to him jumping into the rings and using the speed boost to do some super fast "cat scratch fever" with his Reaver. So he said, he was just having fun with the rings. The person then said "no, I was speaking of coldwetnose". I spoke into the mic, and ask to what they were referring to. They then berated me for standing in the middle of a "fire-fight" when I was also doing barrier. That I should stay out of the way, because what I was doing was stupid. I challenged them with the fact that I was providing rings for everyone to access and not having a problem with adding barrier. They began to argue, and when I tried to respond they said in a nutshell I didn't know what I was doing/must be a steam user/and should "take a douche". You can probably imagine how I reacted, basically indicating how ridiculous this convo was, and after this zone was complete I would be leaving. Once the dragon was killed, which was pretty fast, and the XP menu came up, I could still hear this person ranting. I repeatedly said "Goodbye!", as I left the room. I made a private room, and my friend (along with 3y3vr3 and another friend), joined up. Turns out, they proceeded to tell my one friend who had been in the room when all of this was being said (after I left, and right before he left), that I was a "C" word. Now as a general rule, I really do try not to let this sort of stuff get under my skin, and honestly, even though I have had the unfortunate experience of playing with this person in the past (where they have told us to sit back and let them clear everything, or started ranting at another player), I myself have never really had undue crap spewed on me by a fellow PC DAMP player. Generally I have very good pugs, even when some people are playing a bit over their head. It has still been fun, and rewarding. But I admit, this got to me. I even debated whether or not to post about it. It is however, in keeping with the theme of the thread. So here is me tossing caution to the wind, and posting this. As for wondering why I didn't just mute the person in question. Which is a reasonable question. Two things: one I didn't expect to be ranted at and hadn't realize they were even in the last zone with us. Second, once the whole thing started I got flustered, and totally forgot I could even do that. DOH! Even when my friend suggested it, right near the end, I had a hard time getting my mind in the right place to call up the team screen to Mute said person. Thankfully, I had a couple of very nice runs with 3v3vr3, Laf, and Chad, before calling it a night. You guys are awesome! Happy gaming, everyone!

Now as a general rule, I really do try not to let this sort of stuff get under my skin... Ah, him. I'm not sure how it couldn't get under your skin. Still, it sounds as if you handled it by leaving the room. It's the only solution to situations like that.

This may be an idiot question, but what does "attack cancel" even do? Sometimes I hit shift accidental when playing a mage (I'm too used to pause the game with Ctrl because of SP ) and then I don't attack. At all. On mage's basic attack you don't want to attack cancel because you last hit in the sequence is a more damaging hit that hit mobs from the side also. You could cancel the wait after the last hit (the one where you slam the butt of the staff on the ground), that would speed up the sequence by a little. On bow, it doesn't do much. On dagger, if you how a dual blade equip, it help as the dual blade animation is slow, but for normal dagger, it doesn't help much. But it really really helps in 1 handed and 2 handed weapons. It pretty much ignore you weapon's delay. You can pick a really really slow weapon but using it at the speed of fastest weapon therefore double your DPS. And if you are using something that has guard on hit like the magehunter shield... you are now doubling your guard generation on hit because you are hitting twice as much. You could also use it to take out the wait between special abilities. For example, duelist's bolt. There is usually a small wait between the time you could fire the bolt. But if you hit the sprint button in between, you could fire bolts like it is a semi-auto 9mm. The same with Virtuoso basic attack because his basic is not like normal mages.. it's more like bolting. The same with dragon rage but with dragon rage, the 3rd hit is more damaging so you want to do it after the 3rd one and you could take away the wait. It helps with most abilities that does not have a cooldown.

Hehe for the longest time my Virtuoso was holding on to the Renewal Ammy. He was my last agent that didn't L2PI. But then one time. just one time.. I was soloing thru Perilous. Everything was really really easy with Knight Music and Power Chord until I got to the "get the artifact" map. As usually I just ran to the place and started getting it. Between the little dino and DS assassins.. I couldn't get the thing in time! I was so mad and that was it... all PI all the time. Opening Set will have to do.

We won't let that one, as loud as they are, ruin it for the rest of us.

I took my Lego out for practice in Routine (I just started playing as SS) and Terrell_Campbe11 joined! We had a fun couple of runs wiping the floor with Red Templars. Made a few rookie mistakes, but I think I'm ready to take my SS into Threatening. Hopefully my warriors and DD rogues will join my mages and archers in Peri soon!
Now I have to go to work. Boo.

As everyone else already mentioned, I am nearly positive I know who this is. I think everyone who has played on PC for a while has a story about this person berating, scolding, or criticizing them in some way for how they play. A year ago, I was told I was on his list to make miserable in any game he saw me in . I think he has since forgotten about that though. It always makes for a tense game whenever this person joins because I'm always on edge about what he is going to criticize. I've been criticized for killing too close next to him, for aggroing enemies towards him, for not reviving a new player who was also in the lobby who is sitting in front of a group of spearmen without going to safety (mind you he rarely revives anyone), for being in a match with another player who could solo it, for not killing enough despair demons, for not killing all the bolters fast enough, for accidentally launching the catapult onto him on top of the tower...okay that last one I probably deserved . And then other times, he greets me and says I am a good player... . It's honestly so weird and confusing at times. Lately, he seems to be avoiding me since I have seen him join the lobby for a moment and then back out without joining. But, try not to take it personally. Because it really isn't personal; it's him vs everyone it seems.

Happy to be there to make you feel better As for this person, got to admit he does have some insight about playing dps classes yet absolutely has no idea of how to support. The other day in a perilous pug he was playing a pact-belt keeper who would run ahead aggroing every mob in the zone and fully ignored other 2 new players who desperately needed barrier. I was assassin then but was forced to face tank qunari shock troopers chasing after the poor pugs. It was so ironic a keeper was fighting recklessly on front line while Argent was taking care of teammates at the back No need to say I left afterwards. Can't stand being with him in 2 games in a row. In fact I know very few people who can......

How can you die in perilous as a level 17 with over 320 CON in a full team! He ran ahead to the end of the map and died while the rest of us were clearing the treasure room. I think the whole time he was yelling that there is no need for more than 1 person getting the treasure room. Apparently it is saver to be in the treasure room with the arcane horror than to be around you. If he joined the PUG I was in, I leave after the match. It's just not worth playing with him.

I want to add something. When attacking archers with melee weapons (daggers, 1h/2H weapons) and not using attack cancel they react to it usually starting to move away from you after your seconds hit. You can see the same with Dragon Rage, they step away from you after the second hit and the the third big hit of DR is hitting the air

I want to add something. When attacking archers with melee weapons (daggers, 1h/2H weapons) and not using attack cancel they react to it usually starting to move away from you after your seconds hit. You can see the same with Dragon Rage, they step away from you after the second hit and the the third big hit of DR is hitting the air They need to be alive after two swings to be able to do that...

I...I'm frozen... Went to peri with my Keeper and when I looted a pot I froze. All the people who join my Lobby left after they saw that I wasn't moving instead of pulling me to the next zone. Edit: This is how it looked. Couldn't move and neither use a skill.

Something similar rarely happens when I use crushing leap with the Avvar. You get completely frozen. Sometimes you can escape it by using a health or other potion.

Should've tried that, hit every other key (V, WASD, R, skills) but forgot to try the potion keys

You at least had the courtesy to say 'goodbye' to this "person", if one would even call him that. There's only one that fits that bill for me and reason enough for me to leave when they join. Incidents like this is also reason enough for players, good players, to leave DAMP and it's a shame. We won't let that one, as loud as they are, ruin it for the rest of us. There is only one person I avoid in PUG too and I think we are talking about the same person. I have not met anyone "new" who is like that though. Most people are not mean or bully. AH, I think this must be the person who joined in a game I played last night with a friend in the US. Apparently he was having a good rant, but due to the different communication systems in use, all I could hear were indistinct sounds relayed second-hand. What a shame. Unrelated question. Is the abbreviation TX one that was used by Texas Instruments for some of their products? The company with a very interesting approach to quality control?
