i also dont need GS on white anymore with most setups, but i wld advocate it over AC V anytime for the first completions ! And switch to it if i struggle. Yeah I haven't used Geth Scanner for solos for a long time: its absolutely indispensable early on, but once you've played enough to have a good sense of where spawns are and what directions enemies come from depending on where you are/where they spawn, it becomes sort of redundant... at that point, gear bonus comes down entirely to whether you're using a grenade kit or not- if not Grenade Capacity, use Armored Compartments. I still use it on other maps where i struggle. Notably Glacier. But maybe i should try AC for a few runs.

I still can't solo gold because I'm an inept baby who gets too cocky too early on and then dies midway through wave 6. Tsk.

I was expecting something slightly different - Geth Trooper/Acolyte anyone? Seriously though, I'm not sure I would ever have succeeded doing a Gold Solo without watching your videos repeatedly back in the day. I still haven't succeeded with a Plat attempt but haven't tried the GI/Piranha approach. I like what I saw in your link and might give it a go, even though I have no Cyclonics left. In the 30-odd attempts I've had, my wipes haven't usually been down to lower Shields. More often it's just been my own stupidity or concentration failing in later waves and getting grabbed. I've never been what would be classed on BSN as a typical "GI" player, but I did start my first alt account just so I could have one Sniper build and one Shotgun (or Talon) build. It would make me laugh a little if my first (and definitely last) successful attempt turned out to be with BSN's favourite toaster, but I'm not counting any chickens just yet.

Why not Venom?GI/Venom is a brutal combo, better than GI/everything else. The phantoms hate that weapon.GI can kill the bosses pretty fast with it.BW is an option too.BW kills everything fast, but on lolconsle there is that auto aim problem,so you will kill a swamer or two.

I was primarily acknowledging Cain's video when I mentioned the Piranha, and will certainly give the Venom a try as the GI is one of the characters I can use it on without arthritis causing problems. Any character which uses active powers on the right trigger/button (PS3/Xbox dependent on which is which) is pretty much off-limits for me when it comes to the charged weapons. There is also the small matter of me not having any Incendiary ammo, so I might be more effective with the Piranha and AP IV, which I'm not short of. Respec required though, as I already had a wave 7 wipe with the BW, and it was a struggle to get that far. I only had 3 ranks in Fitness and wasn't using a Cyclonic, so caution was the order of the day. It may have been slightly easier if I'd been on Giant though. I think I'm going to switch to Giant in general as it's where I've been most successful with my Gold solos, and was sticking to White because I had one eye on the clock. As for killing swarmers, well, the chance would be a fine thing. The goo usually gets me first.

Since I joined BSN Prime to see what all this MP fuss was about, I got some great advice from the veterans early on or found it on the forum.
Did a lot of bronze solos with the Krogan Shaman - my goto char in the beginning. Backhanding mooks on bronze did not require a maxed manifest and he had warp to debuff the bosses. Then kinda left it at that until I started looking for a way to get the Lone Wolf banner. Behold, the answer was in the resource library - Reegar Kroguard vs. Geth on White. I hadn't even done a silver solo but with the ultimate cheese I made it fairly comfortably.
1st Plat solo was AIU/Crusader vs. Collectors on Giant. It took a LOT of patience/grinding but with the encouragement from the BSN'ers here, I eventually made it through wave 7, 8, 9, 10 and all the way back to the shuttle. I'm guessing it took about 20 attempts.
I've since been successful with OP kits but have one goal left: A Plat solo with the fat Turian soldier. After all the crap weapon challenges he has endured on laggy potato silver hosts, I promised he would get an entry in the PHOF if I ever got the skills to complete one...

Well, I finally have a Plat Solo under my belt. I did take a photo to prove it but don't currently have an account for hosting it, though I will get around to it at some stage and edit this with a link. (Edit: as promised) It was nothing to shout about in skill terms, but my hands are still shaking from the tension of it all. I did it on my tiwyg23 account on PS3 as it's the one I've maxed and where I have the most consumables. I can honestly say I'll never put myself through that again. Not even on my Xbox a/c. I took on Cerberus on Giant as a Drell Assassin with Black Widow and Scorpion, no Grenade Build. Pink Trench coat, obviously. Full piercing on the BW and Disruptor ammo as it was all I have left that would be useful on both guns. Armoured Compartments (not needed as it turned out - I still had 5 missiles left), and deliberately low-level consumables like a Stabilization mod and a level II Pistol amp I think. I did it in 56:22, so as I said nothing to shout about, but at least I was under an hour. I had Devices, Devices and Pizzas. The Devices on w3 were really pretty kind to me, but on w6 they weren't. I finished with about 20 seconds to spare. My heart was really thumping from the point at which I made it through w7, which has been problematic for me, although moreso on White than Giant. I knew this could be the one, just as long as I could keep my concentration and get a decent Objective on w10. I expected to use a missile or two on w8 but managed to keep the Prime at bay and never really needed to. The first pizza on w10 was across the open map and cost me my last two gels but the second spawned close by and I only had to avoid a Banshee and run around the map once before completing the delivery. Then I used a couple of missiles for the cleanup, keeping most of them for Extraction but only using one in the end. On the non-objective waves I generally used the Scorpion when Phantoms were around and the BW for everything else. The Disruptor ammo genuinely helped me against the Dragoons on a few occasions. I got shield-gated once on Extraction by a gang of Goons and nearly freaked out as I was so close to success, and then more or less just ran around the map a couple of times, cloaking while in the open and hiding in soft cover during cooldowns. Not the most stylish Drell play perhaps, but certainly effective. I don't think this proves anything other than the fact that I have a great deal of patience, having had maybe 40 half-serious attempts before finally succeeding, and if indeed there was any actual skill being exhibited, it wasn't in the same league as those of you who do this kind of thing regularly. I think it was my 5th attempt on Giant, while all the others were on White, mostly against Reapers. I got grabbed so many times there it stopped being funny. Giant is definitely the place to go if you just want to get the damn thing done without regard for time. If I can do this, anybody can. Seriously. Now that it's done, I believe it is customary to thank some of the people who helped along the way. I've watched many more team videos than I have Plat Solos, but muahmuah , @thetechnoturian , caineghis2500 and @fmulder have all shown me how it's supposed to be done - with the latter two worthy of note because they know the true handicap of console auto-aiming - while DistigousForest , docsteely and my old friend mordokai have given tips and encouragement since I started this endeavour. It's about 5 years since I was capping the penultimate Device on W10 on White with most of my consumables intact when I lost connection to the server, and my hand lost connection with my controller at high speed. I vowed "never again" and thought I meant it. I really do mean it now. My primary emotion is one of relief, knowing I can now go back to playing team games again, where the real fun is - for me at least. No solo can compare with the fun I've had when playing team games with those console scrubs mentioned above, and many others too numerous to name without risking hurting someone's feelings by leaving them out. I remember all the BSNers I've played with, so if you're reading this and that includes you, you have my thanks for the fun we've shared. Time for bed now, and I will sleep well.

i never soloed Plat, the thought depresses me.
I soloed Gold maybe 10 times with various classes and all factions. Some of those Gold are pug game where nobody joined , i sometimes committed suicide at extraction from sheer loneliness.
My first ever was i think a Krosen or an infidrell , not sure. It was of course Reaper/Giant. My cheesiest ever was Vancouver Cerberus with a Falcon&Talon Destroyer .

I've watched many more team videos than I have Plat Solos, but muahmuah, @thetechnoturian, caineghis2500 and @fmulder have all shown me how it's supposed to be done - with the latter two worthy of note because they know the true handicap of console auto-aiming - while DistigousForest, docsteely and my old friend mordokai have given tips and encouragement since I started this endeavour. Good stuff. Also all of us scrub soloers almost fainted on extract and still do quite often . And drelling is not the easiest way cause survival is the thing on the first-times

Well, I finally have a Plat Solo under my belt. First one is memorable. I would have given double like on your post if I could. Quite a journey and you did it so congrats.

Well, I finally have a Plat Solo under my belt. Can't fathom why anyone would voluntarily choose Cerberus for their 1st solo. I'm guessing we have different preferences or it's simply a testament to your skill. A plat solo throws all the trolling BS - from on-host phantoms to stun locking toasters - against you, so no excuses necessary. Damn impressive to survive 11 waves with a Drell and to do it sub-60. Repeating myself here but it can't be under estimated: I totally agree with you that the advice and encouragement from those who have done it before you is a difference maker. Congrats on harvesting the fruits of your hard labor

I took on Cerberus on Giant as a Drell Assassin with Black Widow and Scorpion, no Grenade Build. Pink Trench coat, obviously. ... Nice, that was a good choice. Congrats on the plat solo!

Well, I finally have a Plat Solo under my belt. Can't fathom why anyone would voluntarily choose Cerberus for their 1st solo. I'm guessing we have different preferences or it's simply a testament to your skill. Thanks for the kind words from you and everyone else. I wouldn't have chosen Cerberus for my first solo either, until I'd had around 30 wipes against Reapers, mostly on w7 on White. I think my Irishness attracts Banshees or something. For real. I frequently managed 5WS and usually had most of my consumables left, but never got close to wave 10 credits, so I was getting pretty fed up. Geth were never a viable alternative option, as wave 2 alone freaks me out even with 3 teammates, and Collectors would be a crazy choice on PS3, and additionally the thought of facing wave 10 alone really didn't appeal to me. The positive thing with Cerberus is the Atlases - they're slow and pretty dumb compared to Banshees. I tried a couple of runs with just the BW, but the Phantoms were too much for me. The Scorpion made all the difference though. I made it to wave 8 with my first half-serious DAI attempt, and I just knew he was going to be the guy to do it for me. I get too bored with the TGI/Harrier and lose concentration, and although I did do pretty well with the Valkyrie/Venom, GI/Venom and Piranha, GE/GPS and Wraith, Huntress/Talon, SI/BW, VorSent/Venom and BatSol/Raider (the only non-dodging character who didn't get gutted early), I didn't feel the same level of confidence with any of them. I was absolutely horrendous with some of my favourite kits - QFE/Claymore, Krentinel/Claymore and Venom, HE/Indra for example, and my Vanguards are all specced for melee, which really isn't the way to approach a first Plat Solo. I also tried an AIU/Reegar combo for probably the first time, but again her full melee spec wasn't ideal. It seemed like a powerful setup though - I can imagine it being quite popular....

Well, I finally have a Plat Solo under my belt. I did take a photo to prove it but don't currently have an account for hosting it, though I will get around to it at some stage and edit this with a link. It was nothing to shout about in skill terms, but my hands are still shaking from the tension of it all. Well, ain't that something I always knew you could do it... perhaps more so than yourself, but that is per usual.
Congratulations, old buddy. You are now a certified scrub I guess... we both are
I won't post any cheesy words of encouragement, neither flashy gifs or anything similar. I don't think you need them(or, indeed, want them), but I will repeat what I always said. I knew you could do it. And I'm truly, truly happy for you
Now get your ass back on the field soldier! There are fantums to be murdered and goons to be meleed... just because you're suddenly capable, doesn't mean you get to be lazy
Speaking of which, if you ever get around, I would really appreciate you answering that long-as-hell-PM you've got lying around. Big bro advice and all that

Style is of very little importance in the first platinum solo extraction or even the first few. You did great man and got a very hard earned platinum solo under your belt. The first is always special and is definitely something to celebrate. I think this does show some skill too so give yourself more credit. You've applied the knowledge you gained from all of your team games and managed to complete the solo. That to me is skill. Congrats man. A very hard earned solo indeed

1st Bronze Solo - NovaGuard while in Beta version 1st Silver Solo - NovaGuard or Asari Adept I can't remember, but probably Nova in Beta version 1st Gold Solo - Fem Human Infiltrator with Valiant I that I got from doing weekend objectives. Cerberus on FB White 1st Platinum solo - Fem Human Infitrator with Valiant VIII vs Rippaz on Giant. Still roleplaying FemShep. Took a long time. Something like 70+ minutes. Valiant just doesn't have the punch to kill enemies quickly.

Congrats on the first plat solo Feels great to get it done and with a good time too! I've been trying to sub-40 and the closest I've gotten was with the Fury (3x devices) and Valkyrie and Banshee hugs are a big reason why I fail too This happens too many damn times to count. Get to extraction and get goon rushed and die, I've failed a few with 10s left I can't imagine a disconnect though, definitely losing a controller for, fuck that noise.

Being inspired by GruntKitterhand 's success (Congrats! ), I decided it was time for another attempt on that Plat solo on friday. I chose White and Cerberus and picked my Fury with her Venom IX. Never thought I'd try that for a Plat solo, until DistigousForest mentioned it in another thread. Once I tried Reapers, but they annoyed me to hell by wave 1 or 2 (too many Ravagers, Brutes and enemies in general) so I quit and went back to Cerberus. I had several attempts with this combination before, quite some ending in wave 1 after being sync killed, or already loosing all my gels Then there were a couple of mid-game failures that just happened thanks to my scrubbiness. I had two attempts when I got all the way to wave 10, once failing thanks to targets and once failing post-objective thanks to a Banshee warp ball following me around corners and half the map. This was the very first attempt with the Fury/Venom And this was the post-objective fail The post-objective fail hurt a 'bit' as I still had a rocket and it looked like a pretty decent time, I guess. I just wanted to play it safely and then got hit by that warp ball. Anyways, on Friday I read GruntKitterhand's post and thought I'd give it another shot. Loaded my usual setup and while I listened to some music first, I already noticed something was off. When the song was over, it turned out that my game sound were completely off. Nonetheless, I continued playing trying to get as far as possible. Then wave 3 arrived and I got devices. I really wanted to continue first, but without sounds and then enemies appearing out of nothing, my motivation was rapidly gone and I quit again. I didn't feel like continuing first, but since there weren't many people on my FL around anyway, I did give it another shot. Good thing I did. Picking my gear, I noticed I only had 2 or 3 shotgun amps and cyclonics left and thought, well you better succeed at this before you're out of them. Following muahmuah ' and DistigousForest's suggestions, I took Warp ammo but I didn't take AC5, but Geth Scanner as I feel safer with the scanner. Objectives were Escort, Escort and Targets, so until wave 10 I was pretty lucky. The escorts weren't much of a big problem, as they didn't go through spawns. I had to run a circle on wave 3 and might've lost a gel I think, but apart from that, really lucky. I had 3 nukes on wave 10 and originally wanted to keep one for cleanup, but since I was out of gels and ops by the time the third target was marked, I nuked it and then had nothing left except 4 TCPs. An Atlas is slow to kill (at least for me) with all his shields but I got it done and the objective was done, what a relief, though still not relaxing, my heart was now thumping. I just didn't want to fail again on wave 10. I had to take a quick pause in a corner so I could breath calmly Maybe exaggerating a bit here. Anyways, I had to continue as there were still some enemies left, Banshees and Phantoms (I think) weren't a big problem, as the Venom Fury kills them easily. But there were two Atlases left and it took some time to kill them. But, at some point I got the message 'Only one enemy unit left' (or something like that). And then I managed to destroy this one as well As for the non-objective waves, I can' remember much, but I started to love wave 7 and dragoons. I was happy for every dragoon I saw as they were dead in a second and the next one won't take too long to come to you. That might sound stupid, but I can't change that Atlases on the other hand were really annoying and Primes, for once, didn't make me rage. Also I was pretty lucky at times, because I wasn't killed by a surprising turret or phantom when I pulled back a couple of times with less than a full bar of health. I don't mind though, as I also have been unlucky from time to time. Anyways, for extraction I took position in the corner of win, hoping I could soort of hold it with my 0 gels, ops and rockets. I mean, I still had 4 TCPs!! It worked fine for about half a minute, maybe a bit more. Then the Atlas arrived and since I can't take it down quick enough, I pulled back. I now took position on the very end of the map. Luckily no enemy was coming close to me, so I could stay there for another 45 seconds. With about 30 seconds to go, I went to the LZ, as enemies were slowly closing in. There were only two or three dragoons to take care of and then I finally saw the Mission Successful screen after 38:46 minutes. And now some people I'd like to say thank you to: DistigousForest , for giving me the idea of Venom Fury on White Cerberus, a couple of suggestions and wishing me luck muahmuah , for helpful advice, like not taking headshot bonus for the Venom GruntKitterhand , for motivating to give it a shot, even if not intended and also fraggle and Sonashii for being kind enough to believe in me Some sort of impressions: This Atlas was kind enough to not leave the box, though he still almost managed to kill me I think this was post-objective on wave 6, the Atlas closer to me blocked the other one and they both didn't move anymore Luckily, extraction was rather relaxing And the final screen I'm very happy, I managed to do this with the Fury and actually enjoyed the game a lot! While I'm certain that I won't do one plat solo after another (or rather one attempt after another), maybe I'll try to do some more with different classes in the future. For now though, I think I want to get my first flawless gold solo, and I feel like it should involve Turians.
