There, she finds a crashed Kett escape pod, and a small contingent of elite Kett who are in the process of some sort of construction endeavor – tearing apart the facility to build… something. Before Ryder has too long to think on it, however, she is spotted by the Kett, who immediately engage!
0001BACA [BUG] With the battle over, only the kett leader remains alive (though barely). Ryder's squad moves out to secure the area, leaving her alone with the dying Kett. There, the kett confesses to have followed Ryder through the Scourge during their initial visit to Aya after escaping the Archon. When questioned as to whether or not the kett remember being angara, the dying soldier says “yes,” before bleeding out. Ryder interfaces with the facility to shut down/repair the damage the kett had done, which stops the Remnant attacks on the surface. However, Ryder now knows the true cause of the incidents. With this knowledge in hand, she must now report her findings to Paaran and Evfra.

Paaran is grateful for Ryder’s help, and even Evfra grudgingly expresses admiration. When asked how the kett found Aya, Ryder faces a choice: admit the enemy followed the Tempest to the planet and accept indirect culpability for the crisis, or lie and say the kett was a former angara who retained memories of Aya’s existence. Regardless of Ryder’s choice, thanks to her daring rescue of Moshae Sjefa and many successes on Aya, the MWS have taken a huge step forward in relations with Aya!

Using her scanner, Ryder notices some Remnant pipes behind the walls of the cave, following them leads to a previously-hidden interface node. Interfacing reveals an entrance to a Remnant structure. Looking around, Ryder soon realizes that this new area is actually an part of the same Remnant underground she explored during the context quest. This new shortcut opens the way for the finale of the "Angaran Smithsonian" hub artifact collection plot [specifics TBD] which involves bringing the Museum Curator down here to find one final Remnant Relic.
