ME1: Vanguard, Sentinel ME2: Adept and Vanguard or Infiltrator
ME3: Infiltrator, Vanguard Overall: As of now Vanguard and Infiltrator, with Infiltrator being the class I think improved the most uniformly over the course of the trilogy.
Edit: Somewhat tentative; have never beaten 2 as an Engineer and am still experimenting with some builds of other classes
I used to dislike (note here looking back at this: Even back in the day, Vanguard was one of my favorite classes, but I had a period where I hated on it for the following reasons, and because I didn't really have an in-depth understanding of the gameplay mechanics at the time) Vanguard because it seemed like the rule-of-cool, overly showy class to me; the addition of Nova didn't do it any favors in that regard, either. Playing now on Insanity, I've come to appreciate the class more. It requires strategy and is interesting in that it's the most "reactive" of all the classes in its skillset. When I was younger, I had trouble getting into the Adept in 2 and 3. More recently, I've given it a chance in both. As I've come to discover, the ME2 Adept is easily one of my favorite classes in the series. It makes biotics seem so much more tactical than in 1 and 3. There are also a lot of ledges and holes on the maps in 2 that makes playing with biotics fun. 3's Adept was definitely a downgrade, but it's still a fun class to play. From what I've seen, the ME2 Engineer is better. I plan to try it out.
So far across the trilogy, it's looking like: Vanguard
Infiltrator
Adept/Sentinel/Soldier (?) Engineer

Reporting back in after playing a bit more ME:LE. I edited the above post quite a bit over the course of a couple months. For each game, my ranking is roughly: ME1- (most tentative at the moment) Vanguard/Sentinel Soldier
Infiltrator Adept Engineer
ME2- Adept Infiltrator Vanguard
Sentinel Soldier Engineer
ME3- Infiltrator/Vanguard
Engineer/Soldier Adept Sentinel Overall: Vanguard Infiltrator
Adept/Sentinel/Soldier (?) Engineer
I still need to play as an Engineer in ME1 and 2, and want to try a build of the ME3 Engineer I haven't yet which uses Energy Drain instead of Overload and avoids putting too many points into Fitness. Will probably also use Garrus for APA. I anticipate that Engineer will end up either above or below Sentinel after being averaged out over the series.

You can't beat soldier imo.. the way I see it, if I want to use a biotic or tech power, then I just choose my squad accordingly I command them to do it. But I can't command my squad to use a gun for me.

I am planning on replaying the trilogy as a Soldier again but this time with The Spacer and War Hero background and romance Ashley who has grown on me. I feel as a soldier from a military family and a war hero it would make Ashley's father proud to have Shepard as a son in law.

All clandestine and specialized, bet you think you're better than us.

To be an effective Adept, you need to remove the first layer of armor/shields/barriers first before you start throwing them off ledges or detonating warp bombs. Choosing the right squad for the mission really makes a difference. Adepts can't just go charging into the middle of the scrum, one must use cover and use powers wisely

The ME2 version of Singularity -- despite my initial skepticism -- has become one of my favorite abilities to use.

ah yes singularity. It's a fun power. Here's something folks might not have known. If playing as a biotic in ME3, use the power on the keystone cops on Mars when facing the turret. Spam singularity towards the windows of the office. After a bit of time, they will be killed. It's funny listening to them moan/groan and grunt while flying in the sir. Oh yeah. TAKING CASUALTIES. It's even more fun when using it as the tram from the end approaches. It's a good power.

and want to try a build of the ME3 Engineer I haven't yet which uses Energy Drain instead of Overload Have you tried dominate as a bonus power for the engineer yet (once unlocked through Leviathan)? With dominate/sabotage to turn an enemy temporarily to your side, plus your drone and sentry turret in the mix, your enemies will be quite distracted while you destroy them.

Same here, it just had so much utility. Singularity was heat seeking; Could effect enemies behind cover; It could hold shielded and armored enemies; When combined with throw or shockwave, it could launch ragdolled enemies farther; It insta-killed husks; and finally you could launch it before the battle was even triggered. It's just a ton of fun and one of the most strategic tools in your arsenal

If you've played enough times like I have, you tend to do stuff to see what might happen. Singularity is a good power for a biotic, but my favorite is reave, at least in ME3. If you want a power that gives a good laugh it is lash. It turns enemies into ragdolls. If you ever get the power, play Omega to get it, use it on the ponytail during the Thessia mission. Lots of fun.

In 3 it's functionally just a better Warp (aside from DPS for biotic combos) because of the Area evolution.

I've played around with Dominate on an Infiltrator before, but not an Engineer. I find that the Drone and Sentry Turret often fail to distract anyone. Depends on the enemy. The drone will make many enemies turn around to fight the drone if you cast it behind them, letting you shoot them in the back, or giving you a few seconds free from fire to reposition or whatever. It doesn't work on banshees, but it does work on atlas mechs and lower enemies. Then place the turret at a choke point and use dominate on an enemy at the back of their lines, and they'll be busy with someone other than you for a little while so you can destroy them in peace. If you keep your cooldown bonus near 200%, then you can re-cast those distractor powers as needed every couple of seconds, and still be able to use your other powers to prime or detonate combos

Yea hVanguard can be hard t oplay in ME2 aswhils tBiotic charge is powerful it does also leave you vulnerable. Adepts aren' ttoo bad though as Singularity can be useful as a trap combine that with eithe ra shockwav or a warp blast and you can d osom esreious damage Same with Pull and warp really. Especially if you'er also using warp ammo. I think i treally depensd on what tactics you use though. Been enjoying life as a Vanguard Ryder atm. Been a lot of fun so far. MEA Vanguards and biotic charging is dope. I d ofind Vanguard a far more viable option in MEA htan in the trilogy though. Nothing's out of your reach wit hthe jetpacks and stuff there playing Vanguard.

It can ragdoll almost anyone with shields or barrier - sending them flying off the map or stunning them OR use it as combo denotator that has a recharge speed as fast as Throw (~3 seconds)!
