It took me a few eps to get into the 100, but once it takes off it quickly out grows its teen/cw roots. I like the fact there are no 'heroes' as such, just lots of grey. I tried watching the first two seasons of the 100, but the show never hooked me in.
Also I pretty much hated Clarke's character from the moment she showed up.
It is an acquired taste I agree and I think my enjoyment of it ties into my love of screwed up, objectively unlikable protags and bad fictional relationships (I touched on this is the book thread). The fact you have what are essentially two sociopaths as the main leads is appealing to me

Please don't remind me thst I made the mistake of starting The 100. I've been watching the final season of 12 Monkeys. But at this point the story's gotten so convoluted I have no idea what's going on anymore. Same here. I'm just going through the motions at this point, for completionist points.

Currently watching House of Cards (UK). Ian Richardson as Francis Urquhart has to be one of the most iconic TV performances.

It is an acquired taste I agree and I think my enjoyment of it ties into my love of screwed up, objectively unlikable protags and bad fictional relationships (I touched on this is the book thread). The fact you have what are essentially two sociopaths as the main leads is appealing to me I don't mind shows with unlikable, sociopathic protagonists, but I enjoy them far more when they're intentionally written that way .
With the 100, it seems more like the writers realised halfway through S1/2 that rather than being the determined, moral and intelligent hero they intended Clarke to be, more often than not she came off as pushy, self-righteous and arrogant... so they shifted-gears and decided to embrace the idea of Clarke being a flawed anti-hero. (Star Trek Discovery has a similar problem with Burnham, employing the "main character is always right" button way too often in early episodes.)
I think that I might enjoy the 100 more if Clarke wasn't the primary POV character. I wouldn't change a thing about her character or that she's the de facto leader, but how much more interesting would the show be if we were following from the perspective of someone like Murphy instead?
Currently watching House of Cards (UK). Ian Richardson as Francis Urquhart has to be one of the most iconic TV performances. Ian Richardson was definitely fantastic in that role.

Just finished Arrow season 2.
This is a bit underwhelming then what I remember watching the first time but it is stil pretty excellent. The choreography in this show has always been like A+. And...despite how much this show's first two seasons was maybe not as good as I remember the first time watching it I am still REALLY looking forward to the third season, especially remembering and seeing all the arcs set up in just the first episode. Maybe I will catch more minor errors like I did with the first two seasons but I do remember this season being really, really, reealllly good...so I think I am in for a treat.
About the show in general: I do really appreciate how, at least through the first three seasons, we have gotten a character arc for Oliver and the Green Arrow. It would probably just be super easy to make it where Oliver grows up and stops learning new stuff, but each season does have a basic lie that he believes and then has to over come...and speaking about season 3 it is easy to see how the stuff set up in the first episode and his belief in the lie starts him down the path that nearly destroys him and causes so much tension from the final episodes of the season.

Watched the first of the CB Strike series. I mostly started because of Tom Burke and Holliday Granger, they have both been in shows I have very much enjoyed in the past, BBCs 'The Musketeers' and Showtiimes "The Borgias'. The acting is good as expected but the story itself was very predictable. I don't really mind my mystery stories being easy to figure out, so few are truly surprising, so I will continue watching as they come up.

Just started watching this week or so ago, it's been decent so far. Wasn't exactly pleased with new Luke Cage. I feel myself losing interest in all of them, hope they know to end the shows before the quality drops too much. Still looking for new shows to watch, got fed up with Succession 15-20 mins into the pilot. Shows I mainly track, currently, from season to season: The Blacklist Elementary The Expanse Game of Thrones Marvel Agents of SHIELD Pretty short list, need to grow it a bit further.

Detective Conan I started with the manga back in '94 and bought every book. Then RL came in and I kept in touch sporadically. Now, it's pretty hard to catch up on the books, I'm so behind though I bought whatever movies there are. The tv eps is even harder since the series has been running since '94; there're so many. So now I'm doing catch up, whatever I can find on YT. Some of the cases are pretty straight forward; you can spot the method and perp straight off. But the others are more complex; besides my brain don't work that fast and my store of knowledge isn't that deep. When it comes to deciphering puzzles regards the Japanese language, that's neigh on impossible since I've zero insight on their dialects The artwork has improved greatly in the series; sharper / refined and detailed. I really love the eps when the group visit other parts of Japan because it's so informative and well drawn. And there's plenty of info shed on the culture, etc. Had to rotflol at one ep where Ran ended up yelling at Shinichi over her underclothes (in public, over the mobile). Her intention was to ask him a question about their relationship and he thought she wanted an explanation to something he said; about not running, when they were at the aquarium. Talk about x wires.

On episode 6 and it's dragging. There's just no one I give a fuck about. Username checks out On topic: Anybody watching, "I'm Dying Up Here?". It is a Showtime program, and is about the lives of stand-up comedians in the 70s. The set dressing and wardrobe costuming is amazing - sometimes I feel like I am getting to watch my grandma in her prime, the woman I only saw in pictures when I was a baby. It is surreal in that regard, but the writing is very good and the comedians are funny.

Just finished "watching" the 12 Monkeys finale, and don't really know how it ended. Can't be bothered to do the research to find out either. I'm just glad the torture is over. Shame cos it had promise.

Handmaid's Tale season 2 is messing with me. One episode to go, but the last couple have made my wife cry. I just had something in my eye at the same time.
So far, to me, it is just a fraction better than the first season. The characters are all progressing and we're seeing more of the world reacting to Gilead.
One disappointing thing of note; the showrunner has suggested that it might go for 10 seasons...I will not be down with that. It's brilliantly done, but it's just too damned depressing.

Ok, I just saw a promo for the Magnum PI reboot. No mustache. Title character has his race changed. Instead of Vietnam vets, I guess we'll have Desert Storm/Shield. Why do we need or want this? Why couldn't they have gone derivative instead?

I've been watching The Office on Netflix after not paying attention when it was actually on. It's a pretty good show, though I'm in Season 6 now and I feel like it's starting to wear itself out a little. But it's a good antidote if you start thinking your job sucks - just remind yourself that it's better than working for Michael Scott at Dunder-Mifflin. I've watched the first few episodes of "Babylon Berlin." I'm not hooked on it yet, but it seems kind of interesting. I decided to give it a look partly out of sociological curiosity, since it begins in 1929 when the Nazis were on the scene but other parties still held more clout in the Reichstag. I just finished streaming episode 16 and the very last part completely caught me off guard. I wasn't hooked at first either, but eventually, it became a must-watch for me. It doesn't help that the English over German dubbing is awkward at times, but that certainly beats English subtitles. There are a number of subplots going on to keep track of and it helps to brush up on the background history a bit. The series was released originally as two 8 episode seasons but Netflix presented them as one long one. There will be another season. Something to look forward to when Netflix eventually gets it. ‘Babylon Berlin,’ Mainland Europe’s Most Expensive Show, Set for Third Seasonvariety.com/2018/tv/news/babylon-berlin-season-three-sky-ard-beta-tom-tykwer-volker-bruch-1202818468/

There is always a massive disconnect from the emotion of the scene and the emotion of voice actor. The only show that the dubbing seems to work in that I have seen is "The Rain", but that is because it honestly sounds like they got the same Danish actors to just repeat the lines in english. I am over the moon that Babylon Berlin is getting a 3rd season.

I didn't see Dark mentioned in this thread but I might've missed it, I just finished it and was blown away. A lot of people seem to compare it to stranger things but aside from missing kids I don't think they're much alike, it's also a much better show imo. I don't watch a lot of TV but I thought this was good enough to mention and I'm looking forward to the second season.

I'm not sure but I think it might have English dubbing if you don't like subtitles. I didn't bother to check because I'm trying to learn German but I'll find out later. My only complaint with this show was the ending but I won't give spoilers.
EDIT: I checked and for sure it has English dubbing.
