I think it appeals to the fantasy of anyone who plays it, not just males, given females play the game and "get the guy" so to speak. Also yes I have met non-gamers and sci fi fans, my cousin is one. He personally thinks ME is silly and shitty franchise. I couldn't fathom why he believed this, well not until I played Andromeda.

Yeah I think it appeals to both considering you can play as both male and female in the game. In fact I tend to play more female Ryder's in the game than male ones. Mostly because I prefer the female VA (Frydda Wolff) and the fact the story I feel fits Sara more than it does Scott because of Sara's more scientific background.

Well good and fair match ups.

Both Garrus and Deadshot have military training as snipers but it will come down to 1 bullet in either brain pan. Due to his unorthodox nature, I will give it to Deadshot. Due to he is a split second faster and known for his trick shots.

Zaeed and Deathstroke are capable well trained mercs. Zaeed has a bit of a temper and in combat, losing your cool is never a good idea. Deathstroke for keeping his cool during Zaeed losing his temper. Fighting Fiercely is always a good thing but being an idiot due to you letting your temper getting the better of you is always a bad thing.
