Hi all, I recently made a video showcasing the history of multiplayer in the Mass Effect series. I'm hoping to make more videos like this and would love to get some feedback from anyone willing to give it! Don't be afraid to be critical! Cheers! (I'm posting this in the ME3 MP forum as well, let me know if that's not ok!)

Good points. Andromeda story can't be compared to trilogy and that is normal because even if it was at same quality it would still be inferior, but it is good game set in ME universe. Animation bugs were bad, but they managed to fix them to a certain level. As far as MP goes, you said everything, although I didn't had any problems with UI personally, it could be done better. You forgot to mention FOV slider for PC version; that is by far biggest improvement in SP and MP both. Or I missed that part.

The worst part of the UI for me is how the buttons keep magically changing in the lobby.

ME3 dealt very claustrophobic when playing a huge character (Turian, geth prime etc). Ah well can't catch everything!

I enjoyed the video, great job. One thing I think you could have gone more into detail is the evolution of MEA (and ME3 as well) over time. MEA took a lot of tweaking to get where it is now. (I'm sure ME3 did, too, but I'm not remember it that way. I just remember how it is now and all the good stuff). There's also some "low hanging fruit" criticisms of MEA you glossed over which are particularly glaring considering they didn't have to build the game's content from scratch. Off host headshots, lack of enemy variety and immersion (they don't talk a whole lot), and lootpocalypse (Common S weapons, then variants, then mod variants.

Excellent, brought back a wave of nostalgia upon seeing those ME3 clips. I also wish Team Assault was released. That's I imaged MEMP to be like, using ME2's map layouts and having vehicles and the like but without that tunnel vision that FPS limits me to. Shame. Thanks for the vid!

That's a good point, I didn't touch a ton on how post launch went etc, except for a couple of mentions. That would've been a good addition! Solid criticisms I missed too, maybe I didn't notice them as much but would've been nice to have it in the video. Thanks for the feedback:)

Or so I hear

Don't forget that DAI is made in Frostbite as well. Except facial animation problem I didn't encountered any gameplay glitches and bugs, even quest ones. Facial animation disaster was probably result of something that broke and couldn't be entirely fixed without starting from scratch.

Inquisition didn't come with issues nearly as big as Andromeda but are built simarlaly and in the same new engine. It would be interesting to know the full story, hopefully we find out one day

New engine, they did have to build everything from scratch Yeah, it's not really clear what I meant (as hard as I tried). I completely agree that codingwise they had to build everything from scratch. But content wise (like missing AP amm, activated ability variety, ways for single-shot guns to get around shield gate outside of head shots). Whether they are missing from MEA due to engine coding or time restrictions is unclear, but I was referring to the fact that the concepts already existed and didn't need to be invented, they just had to be coded into MEA (if possible).

I've enjoyed both mp games a lot. A couple of observations.
The me3mp new content trailers were amazing and to this day illicit good feelings. Why BioWare cheaped out on the mp ones i'll never know. I also think they bailed on meamp far too fast content wise.
I'd love to have a talk with some of the designers because there were a few what i feel were large mistakes in the 1st one that they promptly repeated in the 2nd game.
Overall great mp games and hours of fun so I have to give them that. I even liked DAIMP. The number one thing these people have to realize from the get go is stability is by far the most important thing. By far.

I didn't actually play DAI yet, it's still on the list Is the MP any good? It's good. Same principles, just executed differently. In DAIMP different build is different build; unlike ME games, you can choose 4 of 12 active skills and put the rest in passives. SO you can play, Elementalis for example as pure fire DPS/controller, or you can mix all four elements and have totally diffrent experience. I sugest you to visit DAIMP forum and get the feel how game looks like. It is more punishing for new players than both ME games combined But if you play long enough and promote, you will become almost invincible.

The game gets easier if you decide you like it an play it a ton. It is really no different than any of the me mp games as far as skill, building and classes. The only thing different is that if you decide youy like the game and play if a lot you get rewarded more. It is not pvp so no there is not such thing as grind to win. If people enjoy the game play of games they play then and grind them yes, if you don't like the game you are not going to grind. Trying to complete a manifest in this game, now that is a massive grind with little reward.
