I would argue that the Falcon is almost as good as the Venom Off host, maybe, but on host the Venom is far superior. Better damage, plus that charge/uncharged double shot thing goodness. I'd say they apply ammo powers about the same. Phantoms are easier to kill with Venom, plus the ragdoll physics are wonderful. you're able to bank shots around corners Venom can do this as well, but it needs to be a charged shot.

That's funny because I love the GE in plat. There's a lot of tech users in plat on Xbox so his overload is great there. Though I drop the Falcon and take either the Saber, GPS, or Venom most often on him. Occasionally I'll take the Wraith and the Javelin is fun on him too. +1 for the GE with Javelin as I have talked about in this thread before like in this postI don't take it very often, but it's good fun when I do. lolConsole sniping can be a real PITA at times so shotguns are my weapon of choice.

you're able to bank shots around corners Venom can do this as well, but it needs to be a charged shot. Not to the same degree. But I concede that this use is extremely situational. I said almost as good as the Venom. It's obvious the Venom does more damage, but I'd still say the ammo power application is less finicky with the Falcon. Also, the falcon's RoF is well timed with how often you can stagger a Phantom. Slight hesitations between shots can keep them stunned. This does take time though.

Added bonus if you pretend it's like a bouncing betty . Ammo application probably appears less finicky with the Falcon because the Venom can have terrible shot registration off host and I've died several times from that crap.

No I get that. I feel that way about the Acolyte. Its not really a gun, just a tool. But what's not to appreciate about the Venom and Scorpion? One sends enemies flying in the sky and stun locks everything but bosses. This is satisfying in itself. And blowing enemies to chunks and stun locking them for days with the Scorpion is also fun. Though I do get what you mean because they don't sound very powerful and charge weapons aren't for everyone. I know I saw DistigiousForest using the Geth Engineer with the Falcon in one of my games. It looked fun, but I'm not a huge fan of Geth because of eye strain mode. But I will give this a shot next time. I also like the sound of Vorcha Engineer build as well. And it seems like he can handle bosses pretty well too. I think I will try Falcon/Hurricane with the Vorcha Engineer and the Fury next time I get on. The Engineer is my favourite Vorcha. I usually run an Incendiary Lancer on him, but any decent weapon works just fine, I use the Lancer because of ammo-independance, sure, with Bloodlust he can get to ammo boxes like a freak, but I'd rather keep Bloodlust stacks maxed and just hunt enemies. Hurricane is probably pretty good on him. As to Hunter Mode, with the exception of the Infiltrator, I'd say it's just fine to spec out of it if it makes you unable to play them (A less than optimal spec is better than a never used one). In fact, no-Hunter Mode Geth were some of my first Gold PUGging characters way back in the day. Nothing wrong with playing characters your own way. Maybe I am just not a fan of Vorcha or something, but I was a bit underwhelmed with the Engineer when I just tried him. I only marginally like the Vorcha Sentinel for Flamer/grenade combo. I think I am just not that big a fan of flamer in general. I don't like the Geth soldier either. And I'm sorry, if I'm not going to use eye strain mode, I see no point in using the Geth. I think it was Grunt who said she's just not an Asari Justicar without pull. That's the same to me with the Geth. Or building the shadow without all her powers. It just doesn't feel like she is herself. I deal with eye strain mode as best as I can, but I had laser eye surgery done and after a few wakes it bothers me so I turn it off. Its even worse when you are on hazard maps.

I don't know why it took me so long to try Fury/Wraith. But man is it effective as hell. I put the Crusader down for a minute to try this. I went into platinum with Wraith/Acolyte. It was super strong.
I also have tried every pistol minus the Scorpion on the Shadow. Is that gun any good for her? I like to run Talon alone on gold for her, but want to mix things up a bit. But I don't think the Scorpion is a solid boss killer. Unless I am missing something. I only have it at level 4 currently.

But I don't think the Scorpion is a solid boss killer Take a Hurricane with. Ammo capacity is kinda crappy on the Scorpion. I'd use it to stagger a group of mooks, then heavy melee said group.

Tried it, didn't like it. I think having two weapons on the Shadow is something I don't like. Even though she is my favorite infiltrator, I only really like two weapons on her from what I've tried. The Talon and Piranha (Piranha only for platinum). I would like the Carnifex or Paladin, but they aren't great boss killers without pistols mods to me. And the Paladin's three rounds isn't too great for her and I only have it at level 4. Also tried the Havok with three different shotguns. The Claymore, Raider, and Piranha. I think I liked Claymore the most but I liked how much faster the recharge times are with the other two shotguns. I know you shouldn't be spamming Havok Strike with him, but Cryo blast is still sorta slow with Claymore. I also tried Destroyer without Devestator mode. He is actually still really strong, but I miss his DPS against bosses.

Yeah, it was me who said that about the Justicar, and I mean it, so I understand where you're coming from regarding the Geth, as I feel the same way - I've never specced out of Hunter Mode and I just can't imagine doing it. I do feel massive sympathy if this means not playing the Geth Engineer though, as he is something of a luxury toaster in my book. We differ on the Shadow, as I regard Electric Slash as an inappropriate power for the way I like to play her - Melee Piranha with Duration Cloak, all day, every day, against any faction on any difficulty setting. One of my favourite builds in the whole game. As for the Vorcha Engineer, I would recommend the CSMG with an extended mag and either the piercing barrel with elemental ammo or occasionally a Power Amp and AP/Drill rounds. I max SubNet, Incinerate and Passives, and the CSMG allows for a lot of headshots and Tech Bursts. I'm not a great fan of the Flamer characters either, but I do find the Vorcha Engineer can be a lot of fun. (Venom for the Sentinel and BPP for the Soldier btw - which makes all 3 of my little psychos feel very different)

(Venom for the Sentinel and BPP for the Soldier btw - which makes all 3 of my little psychos feel very different) And I believe you. I played her with pull and people were telling me its unneeded, but I just don't use the extra weapon damage for her and put pull on level 3. I still think she's strong this way. And of course, I play Geth Engineer with everything maxed except his sentry. I put a Geth Plasma shotgun on him (sometimes Javelin) and he is pretty awesome. But as I said, it just doesn't feel like a Geth without eye strain mode. But I assume Geth Trooper can be played very successfully without it. Really? I don't put a lot of points on electric slash (again only to level 3), but that power just looks so cool on her and it helps to thin out enemies and makes cryo ammo fun on her. I have tried the Shadow many different ways (melee, sniper, etc), but I think I really love her with the current build I have. She is probably my second or third favorite in the whole game after Fury bae and Cerberus smash bro. Ok, I will try the Vorcha Engineer this way when I play again later. I actually have subnet maxed, but not incinerate. I'll try your way. I don't recall what weapon I had on him, but I think it was the Punisher SMG. And my hatred for flamer originates from other players who love to obscure my vision with that obnoxious power. A few days ago, I had a vorcha soldier join my game and he kept following me around like a lost puppy flamering everything and was generally being annoying. He was even toasting abominations of both kinds near me when I can simply do heavy melee with the Shadow and kill them cleanly. Its always fun when you are playing really well and people like this start doing stuff like this. The sad part was, his DPS was actually really poor for whatever reason (only 20K by wave 9) and I refused to pick him up when he went down. Like I said, the Vorcha Sentinel is alright in my book.

Sorry for the double post, but another reason why I love electric slash on the Shadow is because she can do tech bursts enemies that survive which gives her some slight crowd control and area of effect damage. I have SS built with electric damage and while still cloaked after a SS, I do an electric slash and cancel the move with a dodge so I don't use the power, but still get a tech burst.
Also, one way I love killing possessed abominations is electric slash to remove the barrier and then cancel into heavy melee. Its totally all style, but I just love playing her this way. Its very useful when I am using the Talon and I don't have as much much melee damage when I am using the Piranha. I use this tactics on standard grunts too. I can't imagine her without electric slash.

It's just a personal thing for me - I don't like any of the Shockwave-type powers much, although I do enjoy the Smashguard but that's as much because of the novelty of using a Bonus Power spec. I do appreciate your 'totally all style' approach, but I've simply played with too many bad Shadows, hiding behind walls and spamming ES, to ever want to risk annoying someone else the way they've annoyed me over the years. I'm not suggesting you play like that at all, but for me, I've honestly never felt the need for anything more than my Piranha and Omniblade. I like the relatively simple approach of balancing the precision of SS/Melee with the brute force of the Piranha.

But I build/play him a bit differently than what Grunt said (if you're looking for different options that may tickle your fancy); maxed Incinerate, Bloodlust maxed for movement/melee, Fitness goes 4b/6a, Adrenaline III, AT-12 Raider (Claymore works too), don't really bother with SubNet (either 3 or 0 ranks depending if I max passives)- he's super fast once you get a few BL stacks, so the general strategy is to get up close and blast stuff with Raider (finish with Incinerate/FE as necessary) while mixing in melee kills on mooks to get the 6a Fitness weapon damage boost. He's sort of meh DPS-wise compared to other kits, but with Incendiary cheese/FE's and point-blank Raider shots he can do some serious damage, and something about zipping all over the map meleeing stuff really gets you into the Vorcha-mindset (at least for me). I used to play him more as a straightforward powers/Tech-bursting kit, with a pistol/SMG/light shotgun for cooldowns, but he's sort of 2nd rate in that role compared to alot of other kits, and that always felt decidedly less Vorch-ey to me. He's actually one of the few kits I'll willingly use the Reegar on, because it fits this CQC style well and feels sort of fitting for a Vorcha seeing as its basically a type of flamethrower (but he still gets Raider about 95% of the time, Claymore/Reegar, even Wraith or Graal are just a change-of-pace option).

Its one of the most annoying things in this game next to flamer spam in your face. I have seen the types of Shadow players you are referring to. I ran into a Slayer who did this and I wanted to punch him in the face. And I know why you like Piranha with the Shadow. It is super effective. But I don't think two handed weapons suit the Shadow. She strikes me as a one handed weapon kind of girl. I don't know how to explain it, but the Shadow with just a pistol seems the most... "right" to me. It just looks weird if she's using a two handed weapon and sword on top of that. Yeah, I know I'm weird. But on platinum, I have to use the Piranha because Platinum is not kind to her. But do you still play MP on 360? I can show you how my Shadow rolls.

You're a Vorcha fan? I'm shocked. I have enough respec cards so I can try the Vorcha Engineer Grunt's and your way. I also think I had bloodlust set for regeneration and not movement and melee. That sounds like it might make him a bit different in how you approach things. I think I was generally playing with the powers/tech bursting everything with acolyte/SMG or shotgun like you mentioned. Perhaps that's why I am underwhelmed by him. I think I was using the Graal on him last time I played him after I tried the Falcon. I think the Reegar on him might make him boring because I feel the Reegar has this affect on most characters, but I'll still be willing to try it. I played the Vorcha Sentinel tonight with Bloopack SMG. And I still like this guy. I see people use him a lot, but one thing I don't get is why do people just hold down flamer and get run over by Brutes, get shot by Praetorians/Ravagers/Scions/Dragoons, etc? Like only 5 percent of flamer players will use a quick burst and then try to avoid incoming attacks. Also, why do I rarely see Vorcha Sentinels use his cluster grenades for fire explosions and damage? It was super effective at wiping out crowds instead of mindlessly holding down flamer.

I'm a big fan of the Vorcha Engie, although, and this may come as a surprise to some, I'm just a big fan of Vorcha in general. Also, why do I rarely see Vorcha Sentinels use his cluster grenades for fire explosions and damage? It was super effective at wiping out crowds instead of mindlessly holding down flamer. Yeah pugs are gonna be pugs, even in the rare event they play sweet kits instead of boring TGI/AIU/Melee Jugg they never know how to do it right anyways, and Vorcha pugs are often especially pitiful (mainly because silly pugs clearly think Bloodlust makes them tanky, so they show up on Gold or Platinum and try to stand out in the open and just lay on the Flamer, blinding everyone and dying constantly in the process). Cluster grenades are crazy good, and the Vorcha Sentinel has no reason not to take the rank 5 +2 grenade capacity evo so he's particularly suited to grenade-spamming everything into oblivion. Add in some incendiary cheese and a good priming gun (*cough*, Venom, *cough*) and just carpet-bomb everything that moves with fire and explosions- now that's some proper Vorcha-ing. But yeah the speed is sort of the key premise for playing the Engie this way, that plus Raider plus melee makes for a pretty fun, frenetic CQC playstyle that feels differentiated from the other Vorcha and other Engineers. Definitely lots of fun potential in SubNet+Graal/Arc Pistol/whatever and other builds, but like I said this way feels more Vorcha-ey to me (and I usually use the BatSent for the SubNet shenanigans anyways).

Here's my spec(s) on the Engie, it's a fun kit that many people don't use. No he doesn't have Flamer, but Sub-net is a fun power and Incinerate is great too. Power Build this would be my build for gold, plat I would use a Talon and APIV or maybe a Venom. Here's my Melee build. Just run around with the Graal to stun things, then slice them to bits! Cluster grenades are crazy good, and the Vorcha Sentinel has no reason not to take the rank 5 +2 grenade capacity evo so he's particularly suited to grenade-spamming everything into oblivion I've seen too many PUGs that skip Clusters and it drives me bonkers. He can detonate everything its' crazy to me that they's spec out of them and probably put those points in fitness lol. Here's my take on the VSent. When I was a Scrubby McNoob I used to use Incendiary Reegar with both piercing mods...on gold :dirty:

And yeah, skipping/not using cluster grenades is just complete and utter madness, but then again, pugs are gonna be pugs

Cluster grenades are crazy good, ---snip--- I so agree with you here. I also hate this flambéing to that extent, that when using this vorcha, and suddenly experiencing some lag, the damn flamer just refuses to turn off after my much intended short burst! (+ wanting to throw the grenades) So I end up with the flamer just going and going, what feels like an eternity at that point. Leaving me feeling absolutely embarrassed for this, as I feel that I'm now looking like one of Those who would do that intentionally. *Backing away and sideways to escape, flamering now up, down and center, maniacally pressing the button to shut it off, shut it offfff* Aaaaaagh! :wtf:

The Vorcha Engineer, my favourite pyromaniac, and he doesn't even have a flamer a couple of themed challenges have made me a firm believer in using the Kishock on him. Here's a build I like to run. Everything he does adds ticking damage, so he is basically the king of DoT, especially if you want to go a little heavy handed and use inc. ammo on him. I like having regen on vorchas, it allows them a little leeway in sticking their necks out of cover and staying aggressive - a necessity IMO - but that extra burst of speed from rank 6 of bloodlust is too good to pass up. Since the Kishock can be hip-fired at no penalty, he can close range as well, and add a little melee into the mix. Subnet is, at least on-host, an underappreciated power IMO, especially on the Vorcha Engie, capable of cc'ing groups of mooks (the BatSent, who can tank for days, has perhaps less use for it) - plus, thrown on the ground it can defang phantoms I have a lot of fun with him on gold, though I would not want to take this build pugging off-host. Edit: Arktinen, I think you can get the flamer to stop by dodging. At least, that's what I do when I get hit with a seeker swarm, and suddenly I cannot turn that damn thing off manually anymore!

Ah, will have to try that next time! I'm suspecting that the problem could be related to my controller scrubbage, but also it is worse in some matches (regardless of enemy or them even noticing me), and also then started checking if there was other signs of lag in those games. Could be a bad combo of those two, but will definitely try that tactic. I'm just not that used to playing dodgy characters ( ) that I'd try 'n' dodge automatically. I get out of Dodge. (...I should go).

I just wanted to quote this to emphasize the Bloodlust spec here. I can't see any reason to skip the movement at rank 6, on any vorcha, with any spec. It's just too damned awesome. That little extra regen wont help you nearly as much. I might vary rank 5 depending on how I intend to play them, but rank 4 and 6 are set for me (I don't melee enough to dedicate more than Martial Artist and Rank 6 of bloodlust to it, but I like having the option there). I also have to agree with the sheer utility of SubNet on him (and agree that it is slightly less useful to the BatSent, but that still makes it a good power). Vorcha Engineer has arguably more CC than any other Vorcha, and is definitely up there by even Engineer standards. And if you couldn't tell by now, I value CC (DPS is important, too, but dead people aren't much use).

I think we all have this with characters we like right? I mean, I hate seeing people spam 15 arc grenades with the Demogirl into a spawn (especially when its a Praetorian/Banshee that has already bubbled up), or they only use the Harrier with her all the time, or Shadows/Slayers that spam slashes behind cover and never move (seriously, I have seen several Slayers who don't even use Phase Disruptor. What the hell is up with that), Fury's that blindly run into groups and die, Juggernauts that stand in the open and melee everything even if you just went down 34 times with this strategy, brainless shockwave/flamer spammers, etc.
I almost always get annoyed by some random almost every time I play these day.
