I'm still wondering if there might be a secret party member whose existence is too much of a spoiler. Seven companions seems like such a strange number.

Possibly - but DA2 had 7 possible companions (excluding the DLC Sebastian). It's just that two of them were mutually exclusive; i.e. the siblings. Maybe we'll get a situation like that. Otherwise...yeah...a confusing choice with the limited info that we have.

Looking at the vallaslin in this image:
Neither Bellara's nor Davrins tattoos look quite like any of the previous vallaslin (no surprise they got redesigned again after dai, afterall why wouldn't different clans have their own variations?) BUT
Davrin's does look kinda like June's with the thick lines and v at the top centre.
And Bellara's looks more like an entirely new desgin, but-
The crisscrossing wavey lines on the left and right close to her hair line do remind me of the ones on the cheeks of the dirthamin vallaslin, and she has little arrows and dots around her eyes which the dirthamin vallaslin has a lot of too.
Course they could just be tattoos rather than vallaslin i suppose.

Why not two Grey Wardens? I want more of them! (says the girl who romanced Alistair and Blackwall) Blackwall is only a Grey Warden if you make him one, he definitely doesn't count. Absafraginlootly your pics aren't working?

Well now we have all our 7 companions. What do you think about this selection? I don´t know. Sure its great to be right on Harding but the rest i need more informations. I not gonna lie i kinda miss another familiar face. Ok ok i say it out loud i miss Calpernia in the roster. Maevaris would also have been nice but that´s life. In my case i win (Harding) and lose (Calpernia and / or Maevaris) at the same time. For me i take the time after the trailer to get over the art. 4 female, 3 male aren't bad. But i am not sure of romance so far. I knew that after DAI I would have less choice this time. I guess i need more information or i go without romance. I love the baby griffion (big win). My lose that i doesn't get the female crow from the concept art. But hey that's live.

Going from the trailer and the descriptions given, so far my tiers for the companions are: Like: Bellara Davrin Meh: Harding Neve Dislike: Emmrich Lucanis Taash Curious to see if this will change. I agree with Emmrich. I am not a fan of skeletons. And his age is a problem and not a problem, that depents on the age of the HC and if he is romanceble.
Lucanis, Neve, Darvin and Taash are what so ever at the moment.
I don't understand Harding. But i am happy for everyone that wanted her. Solas know her to well after the missing in my eyes.
Bellara is interessing.

In this i love Bellara, more adult then in the trailer. Fits better to the rest. I think i romance Bellara in the first run. very interessting world state. Romance: Alistaire - no one - Cullen - Bellara.

There are likely to be intriguing aspects to all of them: Harding: If she does start acquiring magical abilities that will likely be part of her personal quest. It probably will be related to the Titans and probably something she will need to come to terms with because it might be a little unsettling for her, particularly if she is connecting to something other than the Fade. Davrin: He is not a second Blackwall because the latter was never a true Warden. Davrin is a Dalish elf so it will be interesting to discover why he joined up. They do have a history of doing so and probably even more in the northern part of Thedas but it is more common for city elves to join up, for obvious reasons, or elf mages from the Circle. It looks like he has a bond with a young griffin, which is amazing and ties in nicely to the Last Flight. That may make for another semi-companion in the line up. If his vallaslin are those of June that could be relevant. They hinted there was more to June than we had been told when we were in the Temple of Mythal. Emmerich: He definitely features in Tevinter Nights as a senior member of the Mourn Watch, a special branch of the Mortalitassi. Now whether he would have approved of the actions of the female Mortalitassi in Dread Wolf Take You or not, it seems likely that the Mortalitassi are in direct opposition to Solas. It always seemed a bit strange to me he was so chilled about them in DAI, so I was pleased to see they rectified his attitude in Tevinter Nights. If Manfred is serving Emmerich willingly then perhaps Solas would give him a pass but I imagine it could be an issue. So, it is entirely understandable why Emmerich is on the team. I don't think his age will be a problem; let's not be ageist eh? (says the grey haired one). Also, there is a possibility that he and Manfred will be something of a comedy double act to lighten the mood. Lucanis: The interesting aspect to Lucanis is that he was raised as the likely inheritor of the title First Talon and then rejected his inheritance, even going so far as to fake his own death to avoid it. He is a killer but does have his own moral code which is probably why he opted out of staying within the Crows. Also, he is in direct opposition to the Venatori who want revenge on him for killing so many of their own. I wonder if he already knows Neve. Neve: The lady with the prosthetic leg, so disabled representation. I liked her character in Tevinter Nights. Like her even more now I know she is part of the Shadow Dragons, who I assume were only just being developed back then as there was an anti-slavery group mentioned but they didn't have a name. She has contacts in Tevinter but not part of the establishment. It will be interesting to learn her history. Bellara: The fact she has unknown vallaslin points to her likely being an ancient elf or Executor. If she has access to a power orb that is hardly surprising since foci were common back in Ancient Tevinter and they likely pilfered them from elven ruins. She, though, would know how to use it properly. If she is from the Executors then they are opposed to the Wolf. The Veil Jumpers seemed to be researching and combating the weird magical phenomena in the Arlathan Forest, so I think she is going to be a fascinating companion. Taash: Bet you that's short for Ataashi, the qunari word for dragon. She has presumably fully embraced her draconic heritage. As a Lord of Fortune it would seem she has definitely quit the Qun, unless she was always Vashoth. I imagine there are more independent members of their race up in Rivain than elsewhere. I'm still hopeful, though, that she is perhaps a renegade Tamassran or other member of the priesthood and so knows what their connection to dragons is. She looks like a dual wielding warrior to me, like the Arishok in DA2. Either that or she is a rogue who can dual wield more than daggers. I wouldn't be surprised if she is a Reaver, like Bull, because it comes naturally to them. Also, the latest reveal actually links pretty well with the old 2020 trailer. Remember Varris saying: "We've got your back". Well, this crew is the "We".

Which companion is that in the back with the PURPLE WINGS?! Pretty sure it’s Lucanis. It’s the only one that fits You would think it would be Emmerich because he is a high ranking Mortalitassi with access to abilities not previously revealed but I always thought there was something more to Lucanis in Tevinter Nights than they let on at the time. The Venatori called him the Demon, so may be those wings might have something to do with that title.

The Veil Jumpers seemed to be researching and combating the weird magical phenomena in the Arlathan Forest, so I think she is going to be a fascinating companion. For Harding, I don’t think it’s necessarily because of the Titans. As I said in her thread, I get a feeling her suddenly having magic will be a result of something that happens in the prologue mission. With Neve being disabled representation, I hope if the Inquisitor show up they have a prosthetic arm as well instead of them just sitting around giving orders. As for Bellara being potentially an Executor, I wonder if that’s why she has a more Asian appearance. I remember way back when Gaider or one of the other devs was asked about Asians being the Dragon Age, their answer was they’d have to come from a different continent. Well, the Executors do that. Could be a descendant of elves who lived on one of those other continents for a while. That or BioWare just changed their mind and based her appearance off her voice actor.

I'm still wondering if there might be a secret party member whose existence is too much of a spoiler. Seven companions seems like such a strange number. Seven is a lucky number. Also 7 Samurai, the Magnificent 7, etc. However, it might allow for temporary companions joining up for specific quests. Besides, if we really are going to be limited to a party of 3, then too big a roster of companions and they would definitely never be used. They have said that their personal quests are going to be integrated into the main narrative, so this may also account for them limiting the number so it didn't becoming unwieldy to do this.

Could be a descendant of elves who lived on one of those other continents for a while. This is a distinct possibility, particularly as the Executors appear to have come across the eastern sea. Also, there seem strong hints that the elves were originally spirits that crossed over from the Fade into the Waking World and took on material forms. If primitive humans already existed when they did so (which would fit with the Chant of Light), then they likely copied the form of the humans where they crossed over. Hence elves having the same ethnic mix as humans when it comes to skin tone and other secondary facial features, depending on where they crossed over.

For those unfamiliar with Emmerich, he was in Tevinter Nights: Down Among the Dead Men and this image accompanied the DA Day short story with him in from 2021 (I think). His full name is Emmerich Volkarin.

Well that was very disappointing.
I guessed we'd have the horrible harding. From the set up doesn't seem like i'm going to be able to murder knife her unfortunately. But so far the Mage Killer is the only companion to jump out at me in a good way. As far as romances Bellara is somewhat appealing physically but her limited presentation in the trailer didn't attract me much and that awful bow thing. Also curious is the whole asian elf thing a stab at the whole furore elven diversity or are they going to bother to world build it.

So the Game Informer cover has quite an interesting ring to it. Granted its hard to go all Avengers Infinity War with this many characters all the time but the idea of Hardin, Bellora, and *ehecks* Davrin being the top of the group and larger then them is an interesting choice. Also considering some of my latest fan theories.

Looking forward to Ike Amadi. Wasn't the biggest Javik fan BUT something about the brief clip we got of Davrin way back did sell me on the character.
