I hope there's not a Grey Warden companion. I would agree but do we really had ever a full Grey Warden Veteran in the party? In the Past we have only Recruits, one Exile and the last was a Fake Grey Warden. Also i believe that Anderfels Grey Warden would be different from the Ferelden / Orlais Grey Warden.

I guess there'd a difference between who you think will be a companion, and who'd like to be one. I definitely think Dorian will be one of the mage companions, and reading this thread I'd agree that Scout Harding is likely to be one of the rogues. I suspect one or more characters from the comics will feature as companions too - Vaea or Marius.
The one I'd like to see is the return of Talis, probably now Tal-Vashoth.

I guess there'd a difference between who you think will be a companion, and who'd like to be one. I definitely think Dorian will be one of the mage companions, and reading this thread I'd agree that Scout Harding is likely to be one of the rogues. I suspect one or more characters from the comics will feature as companions too - Vaea or Marius. The one I'd like to see is the return of Talis, probably now Tal-Vashoth. Dorian isn't going to be a companion, at least no a full-time one. At most he'll be like Cullen, where there is a quest or two where he'll join you. Bioware has never made a previous LI a companion in the next game. Of course they can break that pattern, but I don't see a reason why they would. Seems like extra hassle when you could use that spot for a new LI/companion. |

I definitely think Dorian will be one of the mage companions Unlikely that Bioware use Dorian again as Companion. Bioware doesn´t like to bring former romances back as companion.
Also he is busy as the Leader of the new Lucerni Faction.
I believe that we get the similar Maevaris Tilani instead of Dorian.

The recurring trends are:
A noble (personality) warrior, an andrastian, an elf, a dwarf, a spirit touched person or spirit, an apostate, someone with some connection to lyrium. Plus others if time and some can be two or more.
That probably won’t change. I suspect there will be only 7 or 8 companions this time.
Warriors:
1. One from a comic.
2. An elf KISA
3. A dwarf
Rogues:
1. One from a comic
2. A tevinter andrastrian mage assassin revolutionary that takes lyrium
3.a qunari who is not racially a qunari

I'd really like to see an old male mage character, the typical fantasy wizard, perhaps a little muddled from years of sniffing potion fumes. He's usually a little tipsy off of his hip flask, complains about walking so much, and calls the other companions by three wrong names until he gets to the right one.
Give me Grandpa wizard Bioware!

1. RETURNING COMPANION: Merril. After Kirkwall and the possible loss of Hawke, it would be interesting to see her blood magic could hold the key to defeating the Elvish god of trickery. 3. RETURNING COMPANION: Nathaniel Howe. Every game needs a Grey Warden companion. I've always thought Nathaniel would be an interesting companion to return. What has all these years as a Grey Warden done to him? Does he struggle with The Calling yet? What will he do to see the Wardens confront the new threat facing Thedas? As much as I would love for Merrill to return, unfortunately she and Nathaniel can be dead so we won't be seeing them in any major role. Maybe a cameo, but that's it. But Mass Effect 3 had companions who could die in the previous game. I don't see why they couldn't do that in Dragon Age. I also want Merrill back and I'd like to see Bethany/Carver as well. |

As I said, I would love to have Merrill return(so long as they don't ruin her character or ends badly) but I just doubt they will any more than a small role at most. Yes Mass Effect 3 had Tali and Garrus able to return, but there are too many differences between ME3 and DA4 that I don't think they would do it like that. |

A fog warrior. Maybe not a "warrior", some of them can use some kind of magical fog...so could be a mage, or a rogue with a special class power. Doesn't like Tevinter, doesn't like Qunari.
A Tal Vashoth female. A warrior. I'd go with an ex Ben'Hassrath who are studying magic/eluvians. So you'd have a female warrior who'd be more like a researcher or savant. + Could help with Eluvians.
A Venatori/ex Venatori. Could be Calpernia. I'm not a huge fan of Calpernia ( never actually played a full templar playthrough) but you'd get the slave angle + backstory about Cory + Tevinter mage with a twist.
A male warrior/rogue dwarf from Kal'Sharok.We know Kal'Sharok dwarves have something weird going on, probably blight related. So could be an interesting companion quest. On a mission to create some trade agreement/route between Kal'Sharok and the Ambassadoria (dwarven embassy in Tevinter)
An female elven slave, mage, who turns out to be an ancient elf spy working with Solas but decided Solas plan is a bad idea and now wants to stop him. Was also a minor noble during ancient elven time, wants the elf at the top of the food chain again without the magical apocalypse.
A male Tevinter mage part of the Tevinter Chantry. Send as "help" by the Black Divine. Cynical, doesn't really believe in the Maker or the Chant anymore.
A "mage killer" rogue. Actually part of a secret guild in Tevinter specialized in political assassinations. Not from Tevinter.

I don't mind Calpernia, but I'd prefer not to have too many characters who should be high level in the party if we're starting at level 1 again. OTOH, mysteriously low-level people is kind of a hallmark of Bio's house style, all the way back to BG1. |

Because it would have felt wrong if Garrus and Tali weren´t Squadmates in ME 3. Tali was almost not included in Mass Effect 3 as a full squadmate. Patrick Weekes convinced the team otherwise.
Sorry but unlike Garrus and Tali Merrill isn´t absolutely essential for DA 4. Also in DA Series Bioware don´t like to bring former romances back as companions.
That would be too expensive. Both have to many fates that Bioware that to consider.
I would prefer Hawkes Cousin Charade Amell. That would be a lot easier for Bioware. Only one fate (Alive), one profession (Red Jenny) and One Face.

I don´t have the impression that Valta would like the Surface and therefore traveling through Tevinter. Also at the End of Descent she preferred to live a Hermit Life.
Edit: Why not Bevin?  That would be a real Surprise.
And as Romance.
Sounds a bit weird but in Fallout 4 one of the Companions and Romances is a former Child who was also in Fallout 3. Robert Joseph MacCready
And Bevin is at the Time of 9:44 Dragon and beyond also a grown Man.
