Interesting idea I've seen suggested a few times, but I think a ship base would be better for a Dragon Age game that is based around Rivain, Antiva, and maybe even going to another continent. I want to play that one!

If the game takes place in Tevinter, I would like a magical house or castle with lots of personalization options. I had an idea prior to DAI's release that the base of operations should be a magical inn (potentially operated by Xenon the Antiquarian). It exists in multiple locations, but it's literally the same building no matter where you enter it. And when you exit, you always exit to the same place where you entered the inn, so if you want to move around the world, you still have to travel.
Kind of like The Lost Room, but without the capability to teleport people around the world, or to swallow up non-Objects.

Myself I would like to see Kirkwall or somewhere near to it since all my DAI Inquiz'es are going to hang out at our new digs and I think it would be a good place to find fresh blood that Solas knows nothing about and besides I think if the inquisitor does make an appearance next game they would be awesome leading the Calvary saving the day during the Qun/Tevinter war.

Kind of like The Lost Room, but without the capability to teleport people around the world, or to swallow up non-Objects. An inn at the Eluvian Crossroads...? Kind of similar. But the Crossroads basically lets you travel long distances, while Xenon's Innporiums (TM) would not transport you anywhere.
To clarify: let's say there are three Xenon's Innporiums (TM) in the Exalted Plains, the Emerald Graves and Emprise Du Lion. No matter where you enter the inn, it's always the same building. But when you exit the building, you always exit to wherever you entered, be it the the Exalted Plains, the Emerald Graves and Emprise Du Lion. It exists in a pocket dimension, just like the Crossroads.
This means that to go across Orlais, you would still need to travel across Orlais. But when you stay at Xenon's Innporiums (TM), you'll always know exactly what kind of lodging experience you're in for, no matter how far you roam!

I want an underground den, similar to the Skyrim Thieves Guild. I'm hoping to play an agent or at most the leader of a small group. My general aesthetic preference for these things is compact and functional.

As much as I like Skyhold, I would prefer a small fortified mansion of sorts in Minrathous, Kal-Sharok or whereever in Thedas. A ship is a nice idea but although it's a mobile keep, it would be a very vulnerable one.

I imagine part of defeating Solas would involve stripping more and more of the Eluvian network from him. Cut off supply lines and all that.

I wouldn't mind having a mobile base. Stay in one spot for a short time, then move to another location. Since you're trying to avoid having Solas know your movements and what you're doing to stop him, it would be best not to stay in one place for an extended period of time. Yeah, I too thought something like a caravan would be a neat idea. Like the baggage of a moving army or a large group of mercenaries. Heck, even something like a temporary fortified camp would work, when the roman soldiers moved around during war times they would build a camp with elaborate fortifications every single night. With tents, a small ditch, a couple makeshift ramparts and pointy logs rammed into the ground for protection against cavalry and massed attacks. I really do not want a huge manor with marble floors and more rooms than I can count, In DA4 I don't want to be made a wealthy influential snobby nobleman-hero-jesus in a matter of one chapter. I find that so boring.

that would be interesting...would solve the time issues this series is known for. "Let's go on a couple week long trip to Val Royeaux so we can have a lunch talk with Cole then go on a couple week trip back to Skyhold." On the plus side, that weird time handling can lead to some interesting theories. Such as: if the mages always saw Wisdom as a demon, from the moment they summoned it, how the hell did they survive nonstop demon fighting from the day Solas had that dream in Skyhold while the Inquisitor was hauling ass to the Exalted Plains over days/weeks? Several of them even have closely-shaved hairstyles, did they take shifts fighting the demon so their friends could trim their edges? Now the obvious answer to this is that Solas gives the quest in Skyhold for game reasons, because otherwise it would be much harder to trigger. But the fun answer is that either Solas or Wisdom is lying about the timeline, and thatβs part of why Solas keeps cutting them off when they try to explain. Especially βweβve been fighting this demon-β The natural continuation of that phrase would be β-for hoursβ or β-all dayβ or β-for weeksβ, but we never find out, because thatβs exactly when Solas interrupts them. If either Solas or his friend is lying about the timeline, that recontextualizes the whole situation. Rather than being stolen across the Veil, Wisdom planned this. Again, itβs probably just game mechanics rather than a sinister plot by a pride demon. But I still wonder why Solasβ quest, out of all the companion quests, is presented as so black and white. Youβre telling me that Solas, Mr. Look In The Fade, Everyone Sees A Different Angle On The Same Event, is the one whose quest is populated with irredeemable cartoon villains? Sure.

Hulk smashing around Skyhold never gets old, but I'd like something smaller with more personality. Something like the Origins camp or a ship would be pretty cool.

I hope whatever it is we get it sooner than Skyhold and it has a role in the story. Skyhold felt too detached and too peculiar and that never went anywhere plot wise so it felt kind of game-y

The concept of 'hub' worries me. It feels isolated with the outside world. You have to see the loading screen when you go or leave. What you do in the hub is very, if not completely, different from what you do in the outside world. It somewhat breaks the immersion and pace. I'm not saying the hubs in previous games (Normandy, Mansion, Skyhold) were bad. But I feel that they were just expedient, and they seem to be a little outdated.

While i love skyhold, i do agree it was a bit big and wasn't as consequential to the story. Like, it was a beautiful castle but i never went to the lower part of the castle, or the dungeons. They were places i explored once and never went to again. I also wish that upgrading skyhold had more impact - both visually (fix the goddamn hole in the wall by the war room!!! Do you want to be assassinated??) and as part of the story (coryphibutt should have attacked skyhold imo. Coulda be like the suicide mission in ME2 (omg an assassin could get in thru the hole and kill one of your advisors if you dont fix it!!)). I would have also loved a quest exploring the history of skyhold because it just sounds so interesting.
Also i love the reclaiming the eluvian network idea. Would serve as a way to weaken solas and his operation, and explain how you get around the map so damn fast. Also i just love the crossroads.
So yeah basically smaller map, more connected to the story and eluvians.

How about a small room. With everyone you can talk to standing in a nice line or two, just waiting for you to approach them . But seriously. I know people look at the Hawke mansion as their βhubβ, but I rather feel like Kirkwall as a whole is the hub. I wouldnβt mind something like that again, as long as you can fast travel. I liked that the companions had their own space and life (well, most of them, anyway). Also, no matter what way they deal with it, I need a way of knowing which person is where and when. Especially if they intend for them to move around and interact with the rest of the place.
