I don't see much remastering (I watched game play over Twitch); I have the original game btw. For those who has the original, there's a discount until 23 Sep. From some of the reviews I read (players who owned the original game already); keys cannot be rebind, a number of reported crashes, no options to optimize graphics, laziest effort of "remastering". Its not huge difference, but higher resolution textures are noticeable. There are in fact more graphic settings, on top of that there are camera and FOV sliders. Be aware that EA still owns original game, so they probably did what they can with it. If this was just remaster I would wait for deep sale on Humble or Fanatical, but since they gave 50% off for owners of the original (Steam only) that will last two months, on top of release 10% off that will last two weeks, I bought Fate Edition for 21 Euro, wich is by my standards worth it since DLC will probably be around 15 when it come out and sountrack is 10. Game is running nice on my potato PC with everything maxed out except supersampling, around 50 FPS with occasional drops to around 40 in towns and villages.

I just checked EA Play Pro and guess what I found! The Re-Reckoning version of Amalur as a new entry on the play list.
I wasn't planning on buying it because it doesn't look worth it and I own the game on Origin not Steam so no cost reduction, but I already have EA Play Pro so maybe I'll try it now.

My oiginal run suffered a save glitch and I never finished the game. We picked it up and the XBone graphicsnupgrade is sign8ficant. It was highly cartoony before, with 360 limitations.
I forgot how much fun chakrams are. I'm running and archer mage and having a blast wiping out everything before it can even run over to me. The quest setup is a hundred times more engaging than Skyrim, in that people actually care if you accomplish things and seem to have noticed that there's a war on. That said, I am also remembering side quest fatigue. It's just so hard to resist those exclamation points!

Tried it for an hour. Never played before. It seems a bit clunky, especially the inventory. Age I guess. I dislike item durability in general, so might remove it.
Too early to speak about the combat. Going for a dagger rogue, but I get the feeling the game is trying to push me toward mage.
The environments so far look really well and have atmosphere and scope.
Guess I'll give it a shot at some point.

Going for a dagger rogue, but I get the feeling the game is trying to push me toward mage. I played a dagger rogue. Over time, it ended up being dagger-rogue with Minors in Warrior and Mage. There are a few specific abilities/spells that really augment a dagger rogue, and eventually that's more effective than further rogue specialization.

I kid, I kid. The "Very Hard" difficulty lives up to its name. Until you've reached level 14, EVERY enemy is a boss enemy, and every mini-boss gets the dreaded purple text. SAVE. OFTEN.

Way I remember it, after the first region or so combat became trivial because of overleveling. I'm still in the same boat that I enjoyed this game enough back in the day that I'd like to give it another shot, but not for almost forty dollars. I'll save it for next year; maybe the expansion will be good enough to tempt me further.

Piercing damage especially seems to be the useful one. I made a bow around level 20 that I ended up using till I finished the game. I think I rolled around with close to 70% crit and lots of bleed and poison bonuses. Kinda trivialised everything, but I guess all builds do.

I am at level 18 but still don't have the long bow core to be able to craft a bow. Is there a merchant who sells that? Haven't come across one yet 😪😪

I am at level 18 but still don't have the long bow core to be able to craft a bow. Is there a merchant who sells that? Haven't come across one yet 😪😪 A great way to get a top-quality bow is to craft something with a gem, then dismantle the bow. Better gem = better component. To quote the Skyrim guards, I'm more of a sword man myself, but I do know that it's the best way to get a physical weapon with decent elemental damage. Basically, craft the strongest elemental gem you can (Pristine Fire/Ice/Lightning + Pristine Magic) Craft a bow using said gem (any quality, so it's a solid way to get rid of 'junk' components) SAVE YOUR GAME. Dismantle the new bow, reloading your save until you get the desired component. A "Flawless" component is the best quality, whether it's rivets, grips, hilts, blades, etc. So, a "Flawless Restoring Grip", for example, would be the best health-regen grip.

Steam Game news page:
New Expansion For Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, Fatesworn, Releases On December 14th!
Vienna, Austria, December 2, 2021 - Almost 10 years ago, a legendary RPG was born: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. This year on December 14th, the journey of the Fateless One continues. After the Crystal War has been fought and Gadlow has been defeated, the people of Amalur were hoping for peace to return to their lands. And although peace has indeed come to Amalur, rumors of a new threat are starting to spread, rising in the far west, the icy lands of Mithros. None other than Telogrus, the God of Chaos himself has awoken and is gathering followers to throw the whole world into chaos!
The upcoming expansion Fatesworn offers a brand new storyline, a new environment, various new quests and missions, new Chaos Realm dungeons all over Amalur, a new gameplay mechanic, new weapons and armor, new enemies, and much more. It will raise the level cap to 50, and even features a new soundtrack by famous composer Grant Kirkhope. Fatesworn requires the base game Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning.
