Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (and Re-Reckoning)

Not to mention THQ's remaster policy and free copy if you have old game.

Fucking yes! Not gonna lie, I pretty much forgot about the IP, it was a long ass time ago when this thing went into the limbo. I hope they put themselves to work on a NON-MMO game, would love to see a sequel or whatever for the franchise.
Always said the franchise has a lot of potential if they exploit it right.

I loved the combat in Amalur. A remaster would certainly be something I'd keep an eye out for.

That said, EA still holds the publishing rights so that could still be a hurtle...

Strangely that's one thing about Amalur that never bothered me.

I like the Destiny system, it's a lot like the Profile system in Andromeda (or more accurately, the Profile system is a lot like the Destiny system in KOA:R)

My favorite was the Might/Sorcery destinies.

Empty wasn't the problem.

Lack of character was. But it was mechanically damn good...

the question now is will it holdup for future games? If what they planned for Copernicus means anything they got a deep lore set...the question now is how will be original vs a WoW clone.

I know I'm late to the party but I just wanted to say this is great news. I am huge fan of the original game and it was a shame the game was overshadowed by Skyrim.

Oh, now here's a story!

I found a copy of the game at my local shop, to my delight. Got it home, installed it, started playing it, and... everyone was speaking French!

That was when I looked at the cover of the game and realized everything was written in French. Living close to Québec, I get kind of used to seeing French on labels and not thinking anything of it. I understand French, but not well enough play a video game that way. The shop guys are nice, and they took it back for a refund, which I used to pump some money into my XBL account.

That's because they added Kingdoms of Amalur to the "Backwards compatible" games for Xbox One. I just tried to buy it and they wouldn't let me. Because for some reason, you can only buy those games from Xbox 360, not from Xbox One. Which makes perfect sense ( )...

So after trying every way available, I spent over an hour with support getting nowhere. Eventually, I tried to hook up my nonfunctional 360, assuming it wouldn't start. But it did... after 30 minutes. So once it had started, I tried to connect it to the TV but it refused to send the signal. I tried connecting it through my capture software, and lo and behold the signal wouldn't go to the TV, but the capture software was able to display the 360 UI... on a 12 second delay.

So with that 12 second delay, I entered the new network information (that took about 10 minutes with the joystick interface) then worked my way through the search function to find the game, then worked my way through entering all the account information (yes all this took a stupidly long time with a 12-second delay per entry before I could see the results.) Finally, I was able to select purchase.

I have downloaded it to my Xbox One successfully.

After all of that, no pressure Kingdoms of Amalur, but you'd better be good!

It’s not gonna blow your fucking mind but it’s pretty damn good.
This game was horrifically overshadowed in reviews because it came out only some four months after Skyrim (needed more time to let those hard-ons settle).  Almost every “major” review outlet/YouTube channel compared it to Skyrim, which was retarded because aside from “fantasy RPG” the two games are extremely different in a lot of ways.  It’s a good game in its own right, worth the bullshit you went through at least.
