I was thinking about Liara's gift to Shepard on Earth. I think it's as much for her as it is for Shepard. This way, even if Shepard doesn't survive, they have this thing they mentally shared. A memory to always hold close.

I really loved Shadow Broker in ME2 with Liara. That is one of the high points for me in that game  But when I took a FemShep over to ME3 who previously had romanced her I didn't feel the same magic. I think it was due to the fact that you had to lock it down again but it just ended up feeling weird. That specific FemShep went for Traynor instead, I will give Liara a second shot in a PT one day but early on in the game I just felt that there wasn't my extra to being in a romance with her. I had seen everything with my previous FemShep who just was her friend. Granted this was a long time ago but I just felt that she was more of a friend and less of a LI somehow. Maybe I just exited the romance-arc too soon. |

I'm stuck at a point in ME1 right now (literally right now) where I can choose whether to romance Liara or not. This Femshep previously flirted with Kaiden but he just bit it on Virmire. I've never had a Shep romance Liara before (done Kaiden, Thane, Garrus) and originally the plan for this Shep was Sam in 3. But...I think she is going to go for it.  |

We all know she took this Shadow Broker job only to stalk Shepard.  you say that like it is a bad thing. Her behavior is one of the many reasons why me and few others join Cerberus. Mildly stalker-ish is non always a good thing. |

Anyone else wish we had seen more of Matriarch Benezia in ME1? Because I do! I wish she could of survived Novaria because her death scene with Liara was so sad.  Little Wing Agreed! The more times I play it the sadder it gets. Was always interested in learning more about Benezia, the Matriarch who had the willpower to briefly break free of Indoctrination. Liara's stories about her in me3 is a nice touch. |

IIRC in ME2 Aethytia stated that she found love in the arms of krogan, turian, and hanar, she could have had more a few more daughters I mean Samara had 3 daughters. I suspect however that PeeBee and Liara are NOT related since BioWare doesn't seem to want a lot of call backs to original trilogy. |

However, she did quickly become one of my favorites in the series. While I, personally, will likely never think about romancing Liara, I think think she is one of the only romance options who are fully dedicated to the relationship. It's very endearing. The lengths she was willing to go just for Shepard and the fact that she never once thought of anyone else made the whole romance more special.
Looking back now, I see that Shepard was probably her whole world. Her mother is dead, she has no other known family and she seems to be lacking any notable friendship beyond the Normandy crew, it's really bittersweet. Knowing that Shepard died fighting against the Reapers kills my heart when I think about that idea, because now what does she have? Only memories. And she knew - she knew what was going to happen.
Even if you don't romance her she still seems very emotionally, possibly even romantically attached to Shepard. Her kindness, innocence, intelligence and dedication are what made her the perfect character. Additionally, the fact that she developed in a realistic way in accordance to events, that is just one other thing that makes her character so great and realistic.

I think especially in a romance, the other members of the Normandy, both past and present, would be there for her, even if just out of respect for Shepard.
