Having played some Gold pugs lately I can only agree, lots of Harrier/TGIs and Reegars around.

A couple of days ago I did something I haven't done in a long time, I promoted my soldiers and took a lvl 1 Kroldier into Silver, and what did I get? Spawn nuking Reegar/AIU and BW/SI, Jesus pugs it's Silver not platinum speed running.

And it's a projectile weapon, so staggers Phantoms, always a bonus.

The slow travel time of the projectiles is what puts me off, I struggle to hit moving targets with the GPS (unless they're charging right at me, like the aforesaid Phantoms). It's best on a character with a hitscan stagger power, I find.

For me it's not just the slow travel time. Given the high probability of getting a laggy host at some point during a play session, there is that nasty bug. I use the gps while soloing because I will once in a blue moon rp as a hunter. The gps is pretty forgiving on moving target as it does track targets slightly which helps. Also make sure if using as an infiltrator you use it on host or cloack cycles will be messed up badly.
