Ok, so how does observations of eclipses and the angles of shadows in vastly different locations determine Earth curvature? And how many possibilities on how a sextant could work on a flat Earth have you eliminated to come to that conclusion? Earth's shadow can be observed to have a curve during lunar eclipses. By measuring the angles of shadows, taken at the same time of day, hundreds of miles apart, one can demonstrate the existence of curvature by observing how the angle changes based on latitude.
No possibilities exist to eliminate, a sextant on a Flat Earth could not be used to navigate as it would on a Globe Earth.
Earths shadow on moon is an assumption, not proof. Your sextant argument is now an argument from ignorance.

Earths shadow on moon is an assumption, not proof. Your sextant argument is now an argument from ignorance. The Earth's shadow always appears curved on the moon during a lunar eclipse, thereby proving the Earth is spherical as this is the only shape capable of doing this. If the Earth was flat, even as a circular plane, the shadow would alternate between appearing as a straight line and a curved ellipse.
Say the person ignorant of how a sextant works and why it could not work as it does on a Flat Earth.

That sounds like Niel deGrasse Tyson. First not only is that "Only sphere can make sphere shadow" claim false; Timstamped to 31:12 to demonstration of a rectangle casting spherical shadow.Second, the idea that if Earth was flat the eclipse would be a straight line is blatant strawman since no flat Earther believes in space or that that's how eclipses work.

Got to stop using that argument from ignorance fallacy, seems to offend and that's not my intention. So I apologize if it came across that way. Anyway, hope to chat more with you tomorrow. Have a good night, Sifr.

This Sunday's Globebusters might be interesting, as there's quite the debate on gravity even among flat Earthers. ^ Stream will start in about 60 minutes. (Here's direct YouTube link so you can participate/view chat) There are some other interesting things about gravity that went down this week in regards to an interview a baller had with George Musser from Scientific American. Was going to summarize with links and might still do. In very short summery this flat Earther named Sleeping Warrior often used one of George M's links from Scientific America on how Einstein gravity superseded Newton's and how it's not a force. And he used this citation in one of his one on one debate with Craig (aka. Fight the flat Earth), to which Craig replied he'll interview George M and get to the bottom of this. And he did interview him, but George M still says "It's not a force, but you can't think of it as a force." Lots of double speak in that interview. Didn't post last Sunday's Globebuster's stream, it was mostly on the Apollo moon missions with Jeran hosting instead of the usual Bob Knodel. Will add link in spoiler for anyone interested;

Have been spending time on Flat Earth Discord channels lately, partly why I've been quiet here. But the show Globebusters has been on hiatus for a bit and is just coming back for a stream on the hour. And this show is good for beginners to FE and also a good gateway into the community for anyone interested. Watch in YouTube if you want to see/participate via livestream text chat.

What was even the point? Such a waste. There's a joke in there about seeing the curvature of the earth on the way down, but it'd be kinda crass . I wonder if guys like him truly believed, or just pretended for their work?

If Earth was flat, it would have no volume. If it had no volume, then people wouldn't be able to stand up. We wouldn't have rivers, lakes, hills, mountains, or even an atmosphere.

Huh, I guess it's meant to be a cylinder or cuboid with a depth of at least 12.3km, so maybe like a 1000:1 ratio of diameter:thickness? Please don't fuel the Crazy.... Just, let it die. oops, sorry...
