Is it just me, or does the inside of the geothermal plant in Emerald Vale look suspiciously like a Vault?

I feel like the smuggler from SWTOR, chaotic neutral fellas. building my empaya.

Finished the game- it was okay. I found it to be a lot like New Vegas (which I never finished), just with companions and better combat.

The ambient music that plays on the Groundbreaker is almost a dead-ringer for Taris.
That is entirely a compliment.
I really hope we get DLC, and a sequel.

I can potentially see them doing DLC, but a sequel is less likely to happen - IMO - given that (a) they're published under Microsoft now, and ( Microsoft likely has them working/prototyping new RPG's that they can add to their 1st party line-up.

I should be getting Outer Worlds in the mail tomorrow, so that'll give me a chance to try it out. I generally enjoyed New Vegas, even though the bugs did ruin some of the fun, so if what I'm seeing - in terms of comments - is indicative of that then it should make for a good experience.

Just finished my first run. As per first run tradition, no wiki, forum help, or anything.. so sloppy as hell, and likely missed enormous chunks of content. I only got 4 of the 6 companions. My level was in the high 20s when I finished. Encountered 1 significant plot bug (game thought companion was dead, when companion death was off) Gunplay is average to subpar. It's functional, but not great. Despite this, I already want to do a second run.. so.. draw your own conclusions! I give it a 8.5/10 to 9/10, depending on future playthroughs. The game's plot and themes are EXTREMELY New Vegas-esque. If you loved New Vegas, you'll love The Outer Worlds. Though the experience is MUCH cleaner than New Vegas in terms of bugs. More details: Companions The companions are deceptively hard to find. Mass Effect, for example, more or less railroads you into the companions, where nothing like that happens here. Also, the companions in Mass Effect are visually distinguishable and striking from NPCs, where in the Outer Worlds they are not. The character writing isn't ME2 or DA:O level, but it's passable
Environment Some of them are gorgeous, and the color pallet is really impressive everywhere.
MechanicsEnemy resistances are a PAIN-they are not visually distinguishable and there is no 'tutorial' on what counters what. I like the gun 'tinker' and 'mod' systems. There is no large, continuous overworld-its parsed into several small sections-but I didn't mind it at all. Loadscreens are minimal and this is fantastic. Towns often only have a loadscreen to get in and get out (as opposed to every house and shop). The ship is ok. It's functional, small, and accessible. I the character creator. It's fantastic. You cannot strip all fallen enemies like you could in similar titles. They'll have some stuff, but you're not going to peel their armor off. Bugs/Polish I experienced one broken quest.
Companions are not AS derpy as similar titles, but still unimpressive.
I also had a LOT of issues with stuttering. (PC, custom build)
Still great though.
Graphics Not as impressive as some of its contemporaries, but still very good. Some of the enemies, paticularly the creature enemies, are very striking. Writing The factions are not as strong as in New Vegas, and not as unique. There's feuds and backstabbing and whatnot, but there's no rigorous divides like New Vegas. It's a lot of corporate a holes vs other corporate a holes.
Gameplay Gunplay is meh. I particularly had a lot of trouble hitting people who were close to me, even with a shotgun.
I did not really bother with melee.
I played a heavy armored shoot-my-way out (mostly) guy-crappy sneaking, not a ton of dialogue, give the companions heavy weapons, etc.
Giving your companions machine guns is OP as heck. They do not consume your ammo.
Progression You will likely have a LOT of trouble with ammo in the beginning. I did, and I mostly prefer lower fire rate, high accuracy weapons.
I specced my character to make a lot of money with perks and whatnot, and later on I was rich, but in the beginning I was very poor for a while.
You may have trouble finding guns you actually like. I didn't find any guns to be useless, but there were definitely ones that were more functional than others.
The tinker system allows you to upgrade guns, but this is generally a frivolous waste of money after a few levels. It's easy to loot or find something in a vending machine.
Finding armor you actually like is harder than finding guns you actually like. The shops almost universally carry the same few armor types, where there are many more armor types you must loot to acquire.

Just a shame that they do not want me to support them properly.
Maybe once it comes to GoG.

In part because the level cap is 30, which is the same as Vanilla F:NV. And that had four DLCs and each one raised the level cap.

Pretty short if people have finished it already? The game is 30-40 hours long for a mostly completionist playthrough (some might go above 40 hours too), but like the Mass Effect trilogy you can rush it (main story only) under 10 hours.

I'm about 40 minutes in, so far so good. I'm experiencing some discrepancies with the mouse, it's kinda weird. At times it feels like acceleration, but then it's not. Maybe it's framerate, I haven't actually checked if it's consistent or not with an actual counter because it feels consisten, might have to check though. Anyways, screen tearing is horrific though, without Vsync it's an absolute eyesore. Outside those technical problems, I like the game.
Art style and ultra colorful palette are nice and get the tone for this game going. The game is also pretty humorous, but without tryharding or telling dumb jokes, it's just natural. I picked Hard difficulty level fearing Normal would be too walk in the park, I'm okay with that decision, and the character is a very "all around" type of build, I'll get into more roleplaying and meme builds for future playthrougs, for now I just want to get a feel of the game and try everything more or less so I can make a choice of what to do next for 2nd and later PTs. It's usually what I'd do with a game like this, since it's impossible to know what skills do what immediately and if they're worth it or not. Not sure if the whole game is like this, but the Hub maps seem large enough, it gives a sense of scale without being a tedious immense map filled with garbage that never ends.

Yes, but New Vegas was known and loved for its story, where Skyrim was known for its wandering around and Fallout was known for its glitchy settlement builder.

Is it just me or is the Unreliable trying very hard to be the Serenity? I mean, the ship's interior almost looks the same and has a very similar layout, my mechanic is basically Halcyon's version of Kaylee, I have a priest on board and when I came back to my ship last night, I actually found my cargo hold full of cows:
