Oh god no, that look awful. I'm still going to vote for a workable prosthetic arm with 5 fingers.

Yeah I imagine the prosthetic would be one that looks and operates like a regular hand, if for no other reason than to make it work for all characters.

Yeah, if the Inquisitor is coming back they're definitely going to use some sort of prosthetic with magic attached to it. Otherwise I don't know how my elf bowman will kill anything. You need two arms to use a bow. Umm.. That's just a grappling hook, though. Its very Batman, but not exqactly a replacement for a long bow. I imagine the Inquisitor having several different attachments. I look forward to the Dagna as Q scene where she tells us about the grappling hook, the sword arm for dual wielding, the golden hand for fancy occasions, and the special quill pen whose nib, if turned counter clockwise three times, can be used to shoot knockout gas into the faces of our enemies and former friend/Fade boyfriend alike.

You need two arms to use a bow. Umm.. That is likely a temporary thing, made for the Trespasser endings. There’s no way they can use that type of model, unless they scrap weapons as a item to find.

It would make no sense on Inquisitor to have a working prosthetic hand. Suddenly they figured out how to connect nerves to metal, wood or whatever, even we today are struggling with the tech. This isn't fullmetal alchemist. Could magic work, maybe but I find highly unlikely. Unless some super weird magic happens and they can form a new hand out of magic.

Well, hang on - this isn't Fullmetal Alchemist, but it is a world with magic too Also - who said that having a prosthetic hand in Thedas means 'figuring out how to connect nerves to metal, wood or whatever'? We can carry a spirit sword created from a sentient creature in DAI. We can talk to an embodiment of pride or despair. There are different disciplines of magic and enchanting and so on, and Inquisitor IS one of the wealthiest and most influential people alive, with access to some of the most brilliant minds alive (Dorian, Dagna, Bianca, etc).

And I did say that yes I get that there's plenty of magic.
It just feels so out of blue that there could be working prosthetic limbs that work/could work like in science fiction. And even if it's a more simple than that it would make designing a battle system for an impaired character very hard(how would two handed weapon work, sword and shield, archery would be limited to crossbow potentially). It's a system I feel would be completely unnecessary and would demand extra time and work.
Magic alone can't be an answer to everything.

In our own medieval history we have examples of prosthetic limbs that allowed people to fight, ride, write, etc. And we didn’t have the technological savvy that Dwarves and Qunari have or magic. BioWare has already played around with this idea so no it would not be out of place if they did it.

It just feels so out of blue that there could be working prosthetic limbs that work/could work like in science fiction. Okay, if you are aware that there's plenty of magic then why are you insistent that there could be working prosthetic limbs that would work like in science fiction??? Why can't it be a prosthetic limb that could work like in a fantasy world with magic in it? Like - nerves and ligaments connected to body and animated by willing spirit or the like? ...Which is why Dragon Age has been meticulously surrounding Inquisitor with people who know what the heck they're doing in that regard. Dorian knows a ton of theoretical and exotic magic, and marvels that mere connection to Inquisition allows him to acquire rare artifacts like sending stone (a device that works like phone with NO resemblance to our technology, btw). Vivienne can connect us with the Formari. Dagna spends all day researching magic and weaving it into our armor (which btw. is able to boost, heal us or withstand attacks of creatures larger than houses) and Bianca has a ton of inventions under her belt, including the machine that can recognize seed type and plant it. IF Inquisitor shows up with a functioning, combat-ready prosthetic it certainly WON'T be out of nowhere. They've been setting this stuff up from the beginning.

I suppose to me it'll then just feel like it didn't end up mattering that the Inquisitor lost their hand. Give them back a new one like nothing happened. The Inquisitor had their adventure, years of it. With them losing the hand means that they're out of the fight giving room to a new hero, doesn't mean they can't do anything anymore but just not be part of the new story. In other words, don't really want to play as inquisitor again. Like it was with DA2 with Hawke being a new hero instead of Warden and then Inquisitor in DAI.

Sure they have something that operates as a hand but that doesn’t mean it’s like nothing happened. It is a constant reminder of what happened just as much as having no hand would be.

Dragon Age has those Knight enchanters who pretty much make weapons out of magic energy. So i really don't see the problem of the Inquisitor using a magic powered mechanic arm.

I don’t know who is familiar with the series, but one prosthetic I think of is the one Yang gets in RWBY. It’s not connected into her body like automail, but instead is more like a regular one you can slip on. It just has more capabilities due to being powered by Dust, their Lyrium essentially.

Having a prosthetic could open the door for so many cool gadgets tbh, something all my Artificer Inqs would be losing a ton of sleep over.
I'd also just give ppl the option of a workable hand aswell though for those tender moments 😂😂
But yeah i'd totally rock a 1h crossbow or DW those bad boys if given the option
Certainly will be interesting

Say "DA4 is definitely going to suck and won't come out this may", please. Unfortunately, zica doesn't work if you try to force it, you have to really believe it. I really hope I think DA4 is going to suck, LOL, I'm already a little hopeless with Bioware after Andromeda

*after second watch*
Not here for this headless elf shape that the statue forms. Let the elves be happy for once, BioWare! Anyway, is the one opposing Solas our protagonist? It appears to have some knife ears and the sun symbolism, plus the red eyes...Elgar'nan? The statue seems to be Mythral, judging by the head symbol.

There’s a chance they’re both Solas, maybe in a similar way then it was rapresented in his tarot card after leaving the Inquisition, for showing off his two sides. The elves/Evanuris will be a central plot in the game, since Solas will (likely) be a main antagonist or major character in it, and the elves are gathering around him.

It is now bed time (Australian time zones mean I've had a whole afternoon to be excited about this) and I just wanted to make one more post in this thread to memorialise the time that I thought the most exciting thing to happen during the Game Awards would be a CGI bird from an ad for a game I don't even play not being killed by a grenade ... AND THEN THERE WAS DRAGON AGE.

I thought of that, but it doesn't seem to portrait a duality of self, but opposing forces, with the middle being the source of the conflict (which won't end well for the elves, I'm sensing. But does it ever in DA?).
To be fair to your reading, the "sun" there could be a full bloody moon; there was a red waxing crescent on Solas' not romanced end game card.

God of War won? Wow, I thought Red Dead Redemption would romp their way to victory 0.0 I knew it was going to be God Of War. Not surprised at all. RDR2 got praised to the heavens by critics but player feedback was mixed. I personally LOVE RDR2 but the gameplay is all kinds of annoying and frustrating. There are so many things they could have done better. It's really not the most fun to play. The narrative is great and they got an award for it, and well deserved. The open world is amazing. But actual gameplay is super janky and gunplay is really just whack a mole.
Best game should go to a game that people liked the most overall and that performs well in most every respect. All the minor flaws of RDR2 pile up and they took realism too far and sacrificed some of the fun for it. I didn't play God Of War but everybody seems to love it, so I'm "happy" the better experience got the award.
