DA 4 Romances! New info for real this time!!! Zom-bangin'?

Ikr, I used to go around saying, "Nothing is better than that #SlowBurn Kaidan romance, best BioWare romance evah!!!1!" except now I know the truth; there is something better than OG Kaidan romance: modded Kaidan romance.

I'm sure BioWare is more than capable of whipping up more shorties that are shawties.

Wouldn't be the first time we romance a crazy mage.

I meant, I have no interest in dating someone who is obviously completely possessed by an outside entity. Coryphaeus or a Titan, pass.

Whoops. I need to withdraw that suggestion. I just remembered that I'm shipping Sigrun and one of my Wardens, and that'd be decanonized if Bio implements this.

Mhm. Would also be nice to meet someone from that other big dwarven city that we know about but never hear about because every dwarf in southern Thedas is somehow an Orzammar exile. Tevinter, however, is in the north, and more or less equidistant from the two. I want me some Kal-Sharok booty.

A gay romance with a similar level of plot relevance to say, Solas, would be the tits. One thing that irked me with the "Why couldn't Solas be bi" thing was Weekes' response along the lines of that it would have made Solas the evil bisexual or whatever. Personally, I think that's the wrong way of seeing/approaching it. Representation means being present at every level, that includes the morally ambiguous eventual antagonist (or 'bad guy' for short) level. Disservice steps in if the character is weak which acts like a kinda substrate but specifically if sexuality is somehow implicitly yet fundamentally tied up with the status as villain or sexuality is moralized somehow. Solas is way, waaay too good a character to have simply been dismissed as some depraved bisexual trope so instead we just missed out on the 'main' (most weighty plot ties) romance of the game.

I don't like the reasoning cuz it implies the only good representation is if good = gay which... is not the point. You don't want to replace one kind of canned representation with another, however well intentioned. Existing as a person in the world, with all the nuance and complexities that entails, who just happens to be gay or bi or w/e is what matters, not whether or not it would be appropriate for someone of a certain sexuality to inhabit the space of a villain. 

All things considered I would have respected a "Solas isn't bi because Solas is straight" answer more. 

I wubs me some video game romance, though I admit I'm not especially picky.

This is probably because the LI isn't for me, but the character I'm playing. I know that my character is designed to be attracted to any of the available LIs, so I can pretty much always find someone suitable.

That said, Imma share some opinions that I expect might be unpopular:

1. I'm not a fan of sex scenes in games, and prefer fade-to-black. I think this is for a couple of reasons:

-- I exist somewhere on the ace spectrum, so I just generally dislike sex scenes.
-- I prefer a degree of ambiguity in role-play.

I think my favorite sex scene in a BioWare game to date was w/ Isabela in DA2. Wild foreplay, cut to the post-coital intimate conversation. I also really enjoy the ambiguity inherent in DAI's Josie romance - very loving and intimate, with an amount of ambiguity that allowed me to headcanon the rest.

2. I'm good with an all-bi or all-pan LI cast. In my mind, the difference (bi or pan) is that pansexuals would be more open to trans, intersexed, and/or non-binary partners, whereas the word bi sort of implies a binary. A couple of other points here:

-- I do acknowledge and appreciate BioWare's efforts toward representation. Wade/Herren, Branka/Hespith, overhearing boyfriends on the strip in ME3's Citadel DLC or the asari and human woman talking about their affair on the Citadel - these are all nice ways to represent different sexualities in these worlds.
-- It is a bit frustrating when the one you really wanted is exclusive. Cassandra was perfectly positioned to be the shining gay KISA, but nope. And don't get me started on Aveline (though the flirtation was nice).

On that topic, I guess I have a couple of other things to say about the supposed implausibility of an all-bi (or pan) group of LIs - though others have already addressed the topic and offered some great justifications in support of it. I tend to believe in the kinsey scale , and the implication that significant numbers of people are not firmly on either end, but somewhere in the middle. Sexuality labels are entirely self-selected, and thus serve as part of one's identity. How we think of ourselves, how we identify is a function of socialization and society's current understanding of sexuality, which changes over time. I would also point out that Thedas is not this world, they have mages and demons and dragons and the fade ffs - so I don't see much reason to assume that the peoples of Thedas necessarily align with our world in terms of sexuality.
