I expect to see at least another human and a couple elves in there.

I don't have any real predictions, though. I could imagine Maevaris and Calpernia showing up as either straight or bisexual LIs (given that they've had male paramours), wouldn't be surprised by either a gay or bi human KISA character (or brooding Marius), wouldn't be surprised to see Harding again, wouldn't be surprised to see a female elf (Vaea or some unknown character) as an option for straight guys.

Would drown in lust if we got a female Tal-Vashoth, but I kind of suspect such a character would be older and unromanceable, maybe a more hardass Wynne? 🤔

It's not about that. The joke will just spiral out of control and eventually we'll probably see some serious articles on various sites pondering whether BioWare took it a step too far by baiting male players with a transgender character who only revealed themselves later.

Alternatively, they would just have Mae mention or imply it outright early on, which would probably later spiral out of control with various articles pondering whether BioWare is shoving it down people's throats.

I can't see it bode well if you meant to put Mae in place of a female romance for straight male characters.
As just a possible fling I would not be too worried.

But it should be duly noted that despite what a transgender may try to explain, people will still look at the birthed gender regardless. Most polite people will be willing to use different pronoun if asked to do so, obviously, but the underlying thought will still be there.

This seems to not only be a problem with heterosexuals, btw, but homosexuals too.

So if by fling you mean someone you can flirt with on the side is actually a very good idea.
But trying to make her a replacement for a gay or straight romance, not so much.

I just want revenge for Bioware denying David Gaider the chance to make Zevran a gay male elf. I also want revenge for Solas being cut as bisexual because '' don't want to stereotype bisexuals as evil '' or whatever. 
I want all the gay male elf energy that has been festering inside Bioware headquarters to finally manifest into the real deal. I also think elves are going to be important in DA4, whether it's because Solas or slave rebellion. Things are happening, anyway. 

Please take sexy egg concept and make it into a gay elf please.

I think it would be best to stay away from Mae and the trans romance issue. Threads always turn to shit and end up getting locked because of it.

The only thing that baffled me is that seemed to be inviting a hostile workplace lawsuit. Maybe Canada is different on that score.
