I mean, if they started working on the current iteration in early 2018, I wouldn't say that late 2020 is entirely off the table, depending on how much they kept of the previous version.

Yeah... and how do we know she’s not working on Dragon Age? Like, legitimately? Also, she developed an extraordinary amount of foundational Dragon Age lore already. A lot of revelations that were revealed in DAI’s ending were already established before DAO shipped. Her work is literally intrinsic into the franchise itself, but with that being said, it’s not like a new writer can’t just walk their way over to Mary and ask “hey, what do you think of this? Does it fit with the lore/character you wrote?”

IF we were new writers on the franchise, wouldn’t that be a thing we’d do? We are just fans and we are already thinking about the importance of Mary - the devs currently making this game, I am positively sure, are aware of her importance. Let’s also not forget Bioware’s post about a core team of developers that have been there since the early days. They are surely well aware. This is not a reboot of a franchise (MEA) or a new franchise. This is some early 2000’s Bioware s***.

Mary Kirby is great and I have loved all of her characters. I cannot
put into words how much they have resonated with me. But....whether Mary is absent or present, I happily believe that DA4 won’t be hindered by either reality. It will not make or break the franchise. Let’s not forget Pweekes hopped on during DAI and arguably wrote one of the most interesting and enigmatic DA characters thus far. It doesn’t take a DA veteran to write something downright fantastic.

Solas was basically given to Patrick on a silver platter with words saying “welcome, now write Solas.” He was a new writer on the franchise! And he wrote Solas!

Let’s iust... chill. Take a breath. Dragon Age 4 is coming and we will get to play it. We only have a teaser trailer so far and few tweets. We got this guys.

Keeping in mind that most of the studio was probably trying get Anthem somewhat presentable until early 2019. The past 6-8 months are probably all the earnest full production time they’ve had, but they have hopefully used that preceding time to thoroughly plan and prototype what they want to do.

Voice Actors are paid for their time in the booth (+ expenses). And if it's just voice work, even a major character can have all their lines recorded in just a few short days. Given that, availability probably isn't an issue unless you're a well-known actor/actress... or Jennifer Hale.  

It only gets more complicated if they're involved in performance capture as well.

I hope they don't announce ahead of time in DA-4 who is romanceable and not because I think it's more fun to find your own way. The first time I played a DA game I had no idea there were romances and then BAM! Leliana! Wait? Is she flirting with me? 😍❤️😍❤️

Can you imagine how half the DA fanbase would react, not being able to go into the game already knowing who they're going to romance and how to get to the ending they want? The humanity.

I'm torn. I literally want them to drop vast character bios ahead of time and/ or leave us entirely in the dark.

This is the main reason I like to know before hand as well. They did not reveal them before Mass Effect Andromeda and look how that turned out for them. A lot of disappointed and hurt fans that resulted in a whole patch for another romance. 

I hope they do. I don't want to get to a point where suddenly the romance has something that I do not want to partake in, like a explicit sex scene, with the only option being go back to the start and walking through the minefield again hoping for a better result.

I know you were already waiting to find out if Inky was going to be in it, but are you going to delay the buy until you find out whether there are sex free romances confirmed?

Andromeda's sex scenes were so over the top, I don't think I like the trend of "porn or not porn" they're going with. But they handled the no sex option with Dorian pretty nicely so maybe I should trust the DA devs not to go that direction.

What I remember of my impression of No sex Jaal is "cute." but my impression may have been reduced in grade quality as I dealt from the trauma of the Freddy Kreuger porn I hadn't known I was signing up for when I said yes to the sex the first time. blergh. I came for the kisses, the flowery language, the post fade to black chit chat. Not that.
