To be fair, the trailer did nothing except say "Here are some characters, some you know already, some you don't, here's a 2 second blurb about each of them, this is in-engine footage by the way, not in-game, see you on Tuesday for more actual in-game footage. Kisses!"  On that premise alone and it says at least the release window, it did a decent job of letting people outside of us know that there's more to come very soon. But this is bad marketing. The game looks like made for live service/mmo for 12 year old. But 12 year old cann't buy it. I think it will be at least 16+. Everyone that know DA but isn't a hard core fan like us, will be deterred by the art styl and the story part. Because this trailer looks like a part of a serie where you have to know what was before. I see only us getting interessted for Tuesday.

But... is it me or has Dragon Age 4 been COMPLETELY de-Solasfied? First it's Dreadwolf name being changed, and none of the trailer or the new art has a reference to him. What is going on? This isn't some super big secret that Solas is a big antagonist, so why are they hiding him? Especially when a lot of the teasers have been focused around Solas. Something fishy is going on and idk what to make of it. I think it's probably as simple as not wanting new players to feel like they need to have played DAI to understand what's happening. Previous teasers were mainly aimed at the existing fanbase to reassure us that the game still existed, now they need to get all the potential new players (who outnumber us by orders of magnitude) to buy in. For that reason they have done a bad job. A fighting trailer would have been better. Like the one from DAI. New player don't know Varric or Harding and will fear they have to know them. The story they show is as we go from a not closed story to part 2 and that will not help getting new player.

It will mostly depends on how will be their actual personalities in game (I remember loving the descriptions of both Isabela and Sera, just for them to be my most hated characters in the entire franchise)but for now is a toss between Davrin and Lucanis. Tho Emmerith is a silver fox that I find very interesting.

I have seen a couple people in a live stream I'm in say that Patrick Weekes and Mark Darrah have responded to the negativity about the art style saying to watch the gameplay on Tuesday. Maybe the writers themselves are not fond of this trailer as it’s not representative of what they worked on. I hope so. Mark Darrah said on his stream this was the best Trailer they have done.

I'm torn between Lucanis and Davrin. I really do like how they look and behave, but ofcourse it's just few shots from trailer and I need to learn more about their in-game personalities.
Speaking of which, we only really know about Harding. She's cool in Inquisition and I think her romance will likely be quite cute, but I always saw her as friend first over first romance pick. Going to need to see more from the characters to make a decision, as currently none truly hit my archetype buttons. Then again, repeating someone like Cassandra( or Tali and Vetra in Mass Effect) wasn't going to happen, BioWare likes to make different characters each game to avoid being formulaic.
But if I were to pick between Lucanis and Davrin for sake of argument, I guess I'll lean to Davrin. Sorry Lucanis, but Griffon pup is hard to ignore in this.

Haven't seen this posted before. It's from Game Informer. Those tentacles are curious, like it is a dragon broodmother. Could it be the ultimate broodmother? Or what the god with the multiple legs/arms and the spear turned into when she/it shapeshifted? The rosy glow definitely seems to connect to darkspawn in some way but not a regular Arch-demon. Notice our hero again has that glowing sword in their left hand, although this time looks a curved rather than a straight blade, so may be it changes over time. |

Just regarding the backlash that is rampant on the YT trailer page, be ready for more. Sure, if the art style in the trailer isn't your thing, that's fair. But BW is going to pull all the "anti-woke" crowd who will be drawn in like flies. YT is already suggesting vids to me calling DA "woke trash" because I've viewed vids on Veilguard. The atmosphere in gaming right now is seriously toxic. Larian was the same and with good marketing they have cancealed the crowd. This marketing trailer was an instant fail. I know that the moment i saw the trailer. So we are up for massive hate, because now they had a reason. The anti-woke can now use other for a hate train.

Respectfully disagree, even if it IS a low bar. Thought ME3's trailer was better. Set the tone, set the stakes, had the artistic contrasts and the visual storytelling going, didn't need words or narration. Was great. The game's ending was a let down, but the trailer was really good.

Not sure if this was already posted but regarding visuals... Shinobi602 @shinobi602 It looks like a much, much better Inquisition in terms of visuals. At least to me And in terms of visuals, people still ask me "What is that awesome looking game you post video snippets from?" - it is DAI multiplayer from 10 years ago, I answer and they drop their jaws.
