I think this is worth posting, even if it might dampen the hype for some. It's not exactly groundbreaking news around here, given the leaks and all. Shinobi posted this on resetera: "I'll say this: I think if fans have been yearning for a quality Bioware game like they were used to before, this is that. Tight design, great character models, environments, animations have gone next level, combat fluidity, etc...it's all here. I compare it to the jump from ME1->ME2. This isn't a spoiler, as Game Informer said, it's a full on action RPG, and you can still pause and issue commands. But this is not DAO. Preferences put aside, Bioware's moved on from that ages ago. This isn't BG3 at all. But they've put a huge emphasis on making combat feel good to play. As in engaging the player, more real-time, more Mass Effect. It's a meaty, single player RPG with lots of systems going on inside. Also, like they said, this is the prologue, the beginning of the game. Keep that in mind if you don't see everyone's powers unlocked or intense pause and play. If you keep all that in mind, I think you'll really like this." I don't want to reopen the age-old discussion but... I feel like if someone's still expecting Origins-like gameplay has only themselves to blame at this point. BW has moved from that more than a decade ago, long before their period of "crisis" (one could argue their most successful games were, in fact, the more action-y ones). I imagine there's probably going to be a lot of complaining today around the Internet when they show off the gameplay - regardless if it's good or bad or inbetween. We'll have to wade through the "Why doesn't it play like Origins???" comments to find the actual constructive criticism. (I'd be extremely happy if I'm wrong)

I found the word "rampaging" associated with "gods" pretty interesting. What kind of gods are those? "Blood for the blood god! Skulls for the skull throne! Let the galaxy burn!" Doesn't give me "elven" vibes exactly. "Milk for the Khorn flakes" For elves? "Silence offends Slaanesh"

I am expecting a better DAI. I'd agree in regards of not expecting DAO, especially in regards of gameplay, but I think the shift in the gameplay might be bigger then what we got across the three previous games. Again, it's something I think most people that followed the rumors and leaks would already expect, but I think it's still worthy to point out.

I'm fully expecting Mass Effect in my Dragon Age, with all the implications it brings.
I don't mind it. Been half-expecting it for a while before it got confirmed by playtesters.

I would like gameplay where I don't have to "forget" an ability I've trained in order to map a new one, like I had to in DAI and MEA.

I would like gameplay where I don't have to "forget" an ability I've trained in order to map a new one, like I had to in DAI and MEA. I completely agree on that. Inquisition's reasoning was most likely due to MP, has the excuse of the controller limitation made zero sense. In DAO and DA2 you can map even less abilities on controller, and the combat wheel allowed the full usage of every ability you unlock in those games. Hopefully they reversed course on that decision.

FUCKIN' STOKED.
Environments are 100%.
Animations/cutscenes look beautiful- Varric looked a bit funny in some parts, but nothing awful.
Fighting looks pretty solid.
Neve is pretty cool.
Demons are stupid looking.
SOLAS WTH MAN. NOT BIANCA.
Looks like you can have more than two companions- probably two of your choice, leaving a spot open for guest companions that further the story along at key intervals. I like this because it means you're not sacrificing a companion of choice to bring someone else along like you have to do in BG3 for story quests (I hope).

They took the advice to heart when some people asked for a decisive move either towards action or back to pausable real-time Origins-like combat The move to action, in my opinion, absolutely benefited the gameplay shown today. Sure, there are people disappointed - but there are also many people that are pleased (including me).
(Also, Solas is as f*cked as we are )

They look less scary and why change the most iconic demon design of the series?!

Solas saying he wouldn't do this if there was any better option makes me wonder if he knows something he hasn't shared with us about why he's doing this. Of course a part is to bring back the good old times but maybe there's something more to this than fixing a past mistake. Maybe the entire world was going towards a bad end anyway. Maybe the whole "killing archdemons might be bad" is related. Or maybe he's just trying to justify things to himself.
