I hope they clarify exactly when and how you can change your slotted abilities, eg only at the lighthouse? any time as long as your not in combat? In combat like mea? (Hopefully without the cooldown)
Also does anyone know what "proc" means? They said it a few times in the q&a but i don't recognise it.

Procs are random events where special armor or weapons provide the user with temporary extra powers or whenever the opposing character suddenly becomes more powerful in some way. www.lifewire.com/what-is-proc-2483498

Proc refers to effects that trigger based on certain conditions. For example, a proc could be a buff you get after casting an ability. It could also be a damage effect that triggers when you hit something. etc

In overwatch, proc usually means to "trigger" an ability that's a passive. There's a character called Brigitte who is a close range mele support who automatically heals in an AoE around her when doing damage, so to "proc" her heals you might use your long-distance whip cd so you can heal without going into close combat.

I suppose close quarter combat applies to the battle-mage or warrior-mage but an ice mage that be long distance and the 2nd weapon is, as you say ???????
Neve uses a sceptre, that might be the 2nd core mage weapon, maybe with additional ones becoming available when you choose the combat mage spec? Ala Bellara and her bow. I wonder if a mage can have dual sceptre's? Use frost and fire at the same time.

I wonder if a mage can have dual sceptre's? Use frost and fire at the same time. I hope they decouple the basic attack elemental effects from the items. The flavor of magic should come from the Mage, not from their stick. It feels like something that will remain, though, since it's a really easy way to make low-level itemization matter.

I posted however long ago the Inq cuts off the arm of a giant to replace the one he/she lost. The Inq gains new powers. There will be the smash talent. The grab and throw talent. If that talent is upgraded, be able to choke the baddie to death. If anything, I can see Inq going to Dagna to come up with something. Have an arm, but the hand can have many different replacements. A hook, a hammer, a grappling chain like what the warrior has in DAI. Go-Go-Gadget-Grappling-Chain!
Where did the Inquisitor obtain his prosthetic appendage??? ... At a second hand store, of course.

So everything has been going so quickly, I just realized I missed giving any kind of reaction to the Inquisitor being confirmed to at least be involved in things. We went from "wait, maybe they're mentioned in the CC, but it could be just text to select choices" to "You get to customize them cus they're definitely gonna show up." so fast, in the midst of so many other details and the gameplay trailer and.. yeah. lol Anyway, I think I did react in the Blanketfort, but I just wanna say: I mean, we don't know yet if we'll get to control them during their scenes, or if its gonna be more of a DAI Hawke situation. But they're gonna be there! And I'm so happy about that! CC demo can't come soon enough! (Yes, I am still holding out hope for the dual-protag scenario where we just straight up play the Inquisitor in some parts. What can I say, I'm a dreamer.) (... Er. Not the magic murdering kind.) (Probably.)

I just want to share that Kala Elizabeth, an artist and BioWare YouTuber who was part of the Community Council and playtested the game (watch her videos if you haven’t already, and also treat her kindly please), said that in the small part that she played of the game, there was a story moment that completely blew her mind. She was surprised.
Just wanted to build the hype. That’s all.

Finding out a story bit that blows my mind and not being able to publicly disclose and speculate about it? I doubt I could handle it. lol

So it looks like some abilities are rolled into our basic attacks - like this Twin Fangs-style jump-attack (double-jump attack?). (Note that it builds Momentum, not using it) Now, those mechanics could go deep if they wanted: Dodge-attacks? Roll-attacks? Parry/Block-Ripostes? Roll-Dodge-Jump-Jump-Attacks?? Then ofc you have similar-style Defensive abilities...

DA:V core gameplay is combat. If one cannot master combat, one cannot play the game. All the effort into banter, dialogue, character depth, missions, side quests, curated stuff, hidden caves/dungeons, loot, powerful magic items... etc. are useless as tits on a bull if one cannot master combat. There is no level progression... nada, zilch.
DA:V is mission oriented for the most part. If you are stuck... tough titties, as my wife used to say. And, so far, Bio is reticent in talking regarding mage combat. Ranger class is my other option. I'm still looking at this option for me, as so far, Bio has focused on close quarter combat.
chose the no die difficulty and you are good to go.
There's that.

Oof, Inquisition better look out, it’s GOAT status might be in jeopardy.

Now I do have one minor, repeat minor, UI quibble regarding the Ability Icons on the Radial UI. Notice the Ability Icons with direction? Depending on which side of the Radial UI the companion is on, the Icon could be pointing towards the target eg. Harding's (which "feels" right) or in Bellara's case, pointing away from the target (which "feels" wrong) - like the ability is directed away from the target. Because it's a Radial UI, it's like you're looking down a scope to your target, and everything should feel like it's directed towards that target.

One thing I was thinking a bit about DAV is the team dynamics. I hope we get a group of companions who, at least initially, may not be thrilled to work together (Neve and Lucanis perhaps). I kept thinking about Morrigan in DAO and Merrill and Fenris in DA2 and how they resonated (or not) with other characters. I'm also super interested in how the relationship between Rook and Inky is going to be developed - will there be a possibility of conflict between them (perhaps regarding Solas' fate)?

The icons would have to change their looks depending on whether the game considers a companion as #1 or #2, i.e. places their icons on the left or on the right side. I think the top left "down arrow" of Harding's abilities is some kind of "down-strike" attack and will always look like that, while the ones pointing to the right are all longer range attacks that fly over the ground, so to say. I think it's better to give each ability a unique, non-changing icon that you learn to recognize quickly.

I haven't understood anything about the gameplay and how it might work so I'm not going to worry about it until I get to play the game.
All three previous games have been vastly different in terms of gameplay so everytime I've had to figure things out and not rely on what the other games had. So it's safe to say gameplay isn't going to be a deal breaker for me.

One thing I was thinking a bit about DAV is the team dynamics. I hope we get a group of companions who, at least initially, may not be thrilled to work together (Neve and Lucanis perhaps). I could be wrong here but I think those two are more likely to get along as they both oppose the Venatori, although I suppose Neve might object to his methods. More likely there could be antagonism between Neve and Emmrich because she doesn't approve of his use of spirits (Solas didn't and views it as slavery), Lucanis and Taash, because he knows the Qun are attacking his homeland and all he sees is a horned giant not the individual, or even Harding and Neve, whichever was chosen in the gameplay the other disapproved, including I think whether to talk down Solas or not. However, Lucanis did seem to be magic sensitive in Tevinter Nights so if they have retained that aspect to him it is possible he is going to be prickly with any mage and they with him (he is called a mage killer after all). Guess what, I intend playing as a mage first run. Still I put up with Fenris and eventually got him to love me, so I can put up with pretty much anyone.
