I play on PC, so every now and then when DAI tells me I have too many saves I grumble and go move a whole character folder to some other place on my harddrive.
You know, I actually forgot about that save limit. Hopefully this game saves different char files in different folders instead of lumping them all in one like DAI. Yeah. I still HAVE all my DAI saves, but I have no idea what half of them actually are. Which is fine until I want to replay one of my existing characters.

I have my old saves, but I'm afraid they're un-playable, since many of them rely on mods I downloaded ages ago.

I was just listening to Varric & Neve talk about Solas "working alone". Okay, for the ritual - sure. But we know he has numerous spies & followers. I'm hoping we can convince them to help us, because if not - that's a lot of angry elves to contend with.

Or they learned what he was actually going to do and opposed him so he killed them.

I'd say the other elves are working for him (and his cause, I suppose) but not with him. In my mind, if he was working with someone, that someone would have to be Solas's equal in power.

It wouldn't surprise me if none of the elves working for Solas ever got anywhere near his ritual or knowing his true goal.
Probably a great distraction for the people looking for him though.

IMO it's very possible none of the elves working for Solas got anywhere near him, ever. He can contact them and leave instructions via dreams after all - and he is the 'lone wolf' type, who stays away from everyone. But as for ever getting anywhere his ritual, or rather the ritual site... well, someone has to raise that scaffolding that kept the statues upright and Rook so diligently destroyed, and somehow I can't see Solas doing all that work alone

After all, that was his aim, to save his People.

We know he doesn’t. His whole line of “the return of my people means the end of yours” he says even to Lavellan. He literally laughs when they say elves are his people after the Winter Palace. And we know Abelas also doesn’t see modern elves as true elves, nor did Fellasan until the end.

Solas is pulling a Thanos, "the great purge blah blah, a buncha b*tches gonna die, and those who don't, are strong, and pure, and will deserve to live in my new world... mwahahaha!" I wanna slap him. Again.

I think maybe I was a bit misunderstood - what I meant is that I think Solas' origin isn't really being elven. We can reasonably assume, thanks to exposition from Cole, that someone "called for him", making me think he was originally a spirit who took an appearance just like Cole did (which would explain his name, which means "pride"). It's likely he resents and regrets this, and is why he tries to encourage Cole to remain a spirit. I think Solas' "people" is primarily spirits rather than elves. Whether the other ancient elves are also spirits taken mortal form in not sure.

My theory is that Solas didn't want the elves near him there cause the ritual was delicate and he didn't want them around to distract him. Demons seemingly attacked surrounding people but not Solas himself.

Why the limit? I believe Bio wants to control the amount of cloud server storage space. DA:V, however, plays offline and therefore the limit is the amount of storage available on your SSD.

Got to be honest, I'm not sure he considers even them his people. I have a feeling he has a very narrow definition of what his people is. We know he doesn’t. His whole line of “the return of my people means the end of yours” he says even to Lavellan. He literally laughs when they say elves are his people after the Winter Palace. And we know Abelas also doesn’t see modern elves as true elves, nor did Fellasan until the end I know but it does make me wonder how many "true" elves are left out there for him to save. Also, he does say how they are like tranquil to him, so perhaps if they are reconnected to the Fade he will recognise them as proper people again. (I'm not saying I approve of his attitude but just trying to explain how he thinks he is saving his people). Also, it would seem to confirm my theory that Charter was really an ancient elf who swapped sides; hence appealing to Solas not to kill her as she hadn't actually betrayed him. Then he says that the elves who remain, like her, might actually like the world he has bequeathed them. So, if only ancient elves were intended to survive, ergo Charter had to be an ancient elf and likely one of his followers because she had no vallaslin. I wonder if we are going to be allowed to quiz the Veil Jumpers on their relationship to Solas or other ancient elven groups. I always thought Solas' tale about being a humble apostate was suspect after reading Masked Empire, although obviously I didn't clock he was actually the Dread Wolf. Then after the Winter Palace and confronting Abelas I was convinced he was an ancient elf considering Abelas recognised him as one of his own but didn't do the same for my Lavellan. So now any elf who turns up with an enthusiasm about the Fade and ancient elven items is going to be equally suspect to me. If they aren't working for Solas that doesn't mean they have the best interests of the current inhabitants of Thedas at heart, however benign they may appear. However, if the voice in our head doesn't mistrust them that will be even more of a reason to do so. On the other hand, just because he warns against them doesn't mean I'm going to give them a free pass.

But I also strongly suspect that all the ancient elves were originally spirits; this is hinted in some of the Trespasser codex entries iirc. But then, don't all modern elves descend from ancient elves? I think Solas must have got an F in high school biology.

The DAI limit had nothing to do with online storage space. In addition, it was a universal limit, not per character like with ME2 and ME3. As for why, I have no idea the purpose behind it. Probably something to do with too much data needing to be loaded or some such technical voodoo.

If Solas' dagger was forged from the Red Lyrium Idol, it looks like he cleansed it of the Blight. Theoretically it was always possible because Merrill cleansed her eluvian of the blight and it is likely that eluvians like the idol are infused with lyrium, so that may have something to do with it. Also, the Core Rule Book said that the Dalish knew how to delay the onset of symptoms of the blight, as Marethari did with Mahariel, so perhaps that was based on incomplete knowledge from ancient lore that the demon gave Merrill the missing pieces to. If so, I wonder if actually has the power to cleanse the Red Lyrium Blight (perhaps at some central node) in the places we go. It has to be important in some way since they have featured it in the marketing. However, I think that is likely to be something much later in the game rather than just cleansing node points as we go round. That bottom beating heart looks to me like it is actually in the Black City or the Black City is a mirror image of a location deep underground. If you do the Dalish origin in DAO, when we look into the eluvian we can see a dark city with some strange entity within it. Yet it cannot have been the Black City in the Fade because it was linked to the underground city we were in and darkspawn were coming out of the eluvian, presumably from the place we could see. Then that is the eluvian that became Merrill's in DA2.

It has to be important in some way since they have featured it in the marketing. However, I think that is likely to be something much later in the game rather than just cleansing node points as we go round. I fully expect it'll have an endgame purpose, but if it was only a late-game/end-game McGuffin, it would likely be a late-game quest to acquire it. If we acquire it after the Prologue, it'll be something that gets used throughout the game. Which is what I would expect given its prominence in the art. BW also alluded to our being able to change and revisit the locations in the game. So cleaning up the Red Lyrium feels like a good place to start.
