Sylvf @sylvf1 So do people LIKE videogame bosseses with second forms? Is it a thrill or a pain when you realize it's one of those fights?
A. It's cool. B. It's a drag.
I think it depends on combat more than the nature of a boss. If the fight is fun and not the case of, say, spending half an hour emptying boss's health bar only to realize that the damn thing is filling back again ! I don't really have an issue with such encounters.

Depends on the implementation.
Then again, I'm usually not into combat enough to tailor my builds to every encounter. As long as you can take baby steps on easiest difficulty, it can be fun to learn the specific strats.
Remember, remember the Palace of Winter, the Qunari gaatlok attack. I know plenty of reasons, why Fen’Harel’s treason should end with a knife in his back.

Drag. I hate having to kill things more than once. It's fine if they change forms mid-fight but don't go back to full health each time, like Imshael in DAI.

Meredith was a multi stage boss, wasn't she? It's been too long since I played DA2, so can't remember whether I found it annoying or interesting.

But she didn't regain her health each time; she just summoned a boatload of statues to do her dirty work. Then, once they were gone, you go back to fighting her again. As I said above, multi-stage is fine, cronies (though irritating) are fine. But don't let me think I killed a tough boss in a drag-out fight only for it to resurrect even stronger than before. That's annoying.

I don't even like having to kill bosses the first time. As long as the health doesn't regenerate, I don't mind.

Just to avoid misunderstandings, I wasn't replying to your post. In fact, I was typing as you posted, so couldn't read it until afterwards . I just meant it as an example of a multi stage boss, since the tweet didn't specify if the boss would regain health or not.

I do wonder what boss they may have in mind - some kind of minor boss somewhere or main boss? Plus, we know that ancient elves, shapeshifters and powerful demons can fairly easily change forms.... hmmm, clearly we can count in Solas into possible contenders for such encounter
Like... I may be even a bit disappointed that - if we do have some sort of epic fight with Solas - he won't shapeshift into something cool at least once!

That is one boss fight I might actually enjoy, just to see his wolf form in action. But I don't want to kill him. I won't. You can't make me do it, Bioware!

When you get the bosses health down to half or whatever and that triggers the next stage in the fight where you have to use different tactics to take out the remaining half of its health, that can be fun. But when you've just spent a really long time getting their health down to zero and it suddenly resets to full, that can be a downer.
I suppose if they had a smaller health bar then it resetting for each stage wouldn't be so bad? I dunno. That still might leave me thinking: but when does this end? I think as long as you can see the health bar continuing to go down you have a sense that your progressing, and also of how much longer the fights likely to take.

What if in the end we lock him in a Pokeball?

So long as the bosses health doesn't go back to full I'm fine with it. It sucks having to - essentially - put them back down again after what could have been a pretty extended fight. Such a transformation should also incorporate new mechanics that add additional challenge to the boss.

Depends on the second form. If it's just a cheesy upgrade of the first form, it's a drag. If it's something completely different that would cause me to adjust my fighting tactics to defeat it, it would be cool.

Maybe? That's a pokemon thing, right?
I never got into pokemon.

I never got into it either, yet this thing is so widespread I've absorbed some stuff via osmosis.
Anyway - given that Solas had such a difficulty killing Evanuris that he's eventually decided to lock them away (seemingly at the cost of sundering Fade from the world) and with Mythal still managing to survive being slain by the Evanuris, question remains what would happen to Solas. If the goal is to neutralize him in some sort of forceful way (which I wouldn't be a fan of either, but still - hypotheticals!) it may not happen via straightforward killing. Locking him away in some way is possibility.
And if it happens that we may have to lock him in something like his orb, I expect a lot of people joking about pokeballs

I still want to seal him in the same inescapable prison that the Evanuris are trapped in. Let them all have fun for all eternity. He killed Mythal after all, and we know what he thinks the punishment for that should be.
